That Temptations, Spinners, Candi Staton and Roberta Flack records all in the mix with some great southern rock and classic rock with Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. Hi 👋 Good records. Sad Cafe had a big hit in 1979 called Every day Hurts. It charted here in New Zealand where I live on our top 40. I like the song. Very melancholy. Tracy Chapman I like, and her debut album in the 1980s sold well here. From Carl.

Great finds RM. the Detroit Spinners album is an absolute classic 100%...& hard to find in the U.K. The Bee Gees album is also superb, Definately their best. Tracy Chapman is about £30.00 plus nowadays. I’ve just got the ‘Fast Car’ 12” single.

    • @retromusings
      @retromusings  4 місяці тому

Wow. A maxi "Fast Car" single is awesome. Well done. On Discogs it seems the average price is about £30 and I saw on Ebay that record is being auctioned with starting bids at £20 -£30. This is the first time I have ever seen that "Detroit Spinners" in the wild and it is in excellent condition. I've never seen that 1973 Temptations album "1990" before which was produced by Norman Whitfield so it's great to have it as he is such an amazing producer. And to find it in the wild like that...it was just mental. Thanks for watching.

@@retromusings Thanks for the reply : -) I listened to it yesterday and remembered that my copy has a bad edge warp that makes the first song on both sides unplayable, as the needle jumps off the groove. A couple of 1 yen coins on the tonearm can't keep the needle in the groove. As a coincidence, I also saw another video yesterday by Dillon at Noble Records about removing warps from records. The only way I ever knew to do this was with a record pressing machine or that two-sheets-of-glass method, but I think I may try Dillons Hairdryer method, which sounds very very risky, but I'm confident I can not cook it. Wish me luck!

I think I paid more for just that one record than all of those stack of records you got there. Feel so happy for you that you found all those. Still can't believe the whole lot cost £25. I rarely buy new records anymore due to the cost but also the quality of some of the pressings is so bad. I bought the newest Pat Metheny record last year and had to return it twice because the pressing was so awful. Thanks for watching.

…what a great haul ! Congrats on finding the Chapman album ! meant to say, JD Souther is an 80s LA songwriter known for keeping friends with The Eagles, Linda Ronstandt, The Souther, Hillman, Furay Band…some excellent songs with attractive voice…

WOW 😲😲😲 you are certainly the cat that got the cream RM,well done, great finds 👍👍👍
Songs from the wood is the only Jethro Tull album I've heard from beginning to end,an enjoyable listen. I don't personally own any of their albums but I've heard plenty of their songs,as my mother's husband was a big fan of theirs. I suppose I consider them a bit of a guilty pleasure ???
50p for a copy of Dexys Searching for the young soul rebels,my fave album by them. There there my dear is the stand out song on that album for me.
Roachford had a bit of a hit with a song called Cuddly Toy,that's all I can tell you about him.
Well done again RM on all those fantastic pickups, especially the Tracy Chapman album 👍👍👍

It's crazy. The whole lot for £25. There must be a record fairy godmother who sprinkled fairy dust over me that day! haha. I'm really looking forward to listening to the Jethro Tull album and all the other blind buys as it's always exciting to enjoy and learn about music outside your usual "lane". Shocked to see the 1973 Temptations album "1990". So far I have never seen that record in record shops or charity shops until now. As a Norman Whitfield fan, that is crazy to find it in the wild for 50p! Thanks for stopping by and watching.

I would not be surprised if Tracy Chapman was influenced by the wonderful Joan Armatrading. And I mean that in a good way.

Brewer and Shipley became famous for One Toke over the Line, and Commander Cody for Hot Rod Lincoln.
But The Outlaws were a Gih-Tahr Army with Hughie Thomason, Henry Paul, and Billy Jones…..saw them many times.
Listen to There Goes Another Love Song, It Follows From Your Heart, then the epic Green Grass and High Tides!
I really show my age in your videos! 😂
    Thanks, be well…

Can someone tell me what P is? My guess was that it was a shortening of £, I’m just not familiar and I wanted to make sure I understood the currency.

50 pence is British currency. It's equivalent to roughly 65 US cents.
