    0:00 - Introduction
    1. 2:11 If Revelation was written after 70AD, why wouldn't John say anything about the destruction of Jerusalem? Wouldn't he write about a prophecy of Jesus that came true? Pretty big event to ignore.
    2. 6:09 Do we have free will? If not, how does that affect God's sovereignty? If yes, how can we be punished for sins when we had no other option?
    3. 13:11 As a conservative Christian, is it wrong to enjoy New Age music? I enjoy playing and listening to the relaxing piano music, but if it is connected to New Age, I do not want to disrespect the Lord.
    4. 16:08 From a Christian perspective, do you have any advice on dealing with and overcoming the fear of death? I've been experiencing a lot of anxiety over my own death and the death(s) of my loved ones.
    5. 21:01 How do you view the false prophecies of Trump winning? Pride? A lying spirit spreading the same false prophecy? Do we stop listening to all those who claimed this?
    6. 26:50 In a futurist view of the end times, which current country do you think would best represent Babylon?
    7. 28:27 What is your advice for a young adult who wants to start a ministry platform similar to yours, but who doesn’t have any formal training? I want other young adults to care about theology like I do.
    8. 31:02 If God is omnipresent, would His presence also be in Hell?
    9. 34:23 Can you help me understand why Paul would permit Timothy to drink wine for his sickness in 1 Timothy 5: 23 even though it seems that he was under the Nazarite vow? (Numbers 6:1-4)
    10. 38:25 In Galatians 4: 27 who is "the desolate" referring to: Sarah or Hagar? My Bible study disagreed and I can see arguments for either one.
    11. 43:13 Who can baptize? Can I baptize my kids?
    12. 45:56 Why is it that big name Calvinists, in general, are super arrogant and ultimately unloving? And shouldn't this disqualify them from leadership and make them false teachers?
    13. 48:11 Should I stop reading the devotional on my “Bible in one year” plan? It seems to be eisegetical and groups the Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms/Prov. daily reading under one common theme each day.
    14. 49:05 Can it be argued that the authority and power Jesus gave to the 12/70 disciples in Luke 3: 15 and Luke 10:9 to heal the sick and to cast out demons is different from using our spiritual gifts?
    15. 52:37 In Matthew 11: 22-24, Jesus says if Sodom saw and heard the miracles you have they would have repented. So why didn’t Jesus do those works in Sodom instead of destroy them?
    16. 57:41 In your marriage videos, you referred to men as “knuckleheads” that weren't acting as the “head” in decision making. Is it permissible to actively consult with and make decisions with your wife, cooperatively?
    17. 59:18 Am I a covenant breaker if I agreed to a divorce that I didn't want? My wife is divorcing me, and I told her we need to go to counseling first but she said she doesn't want to fix the marriage.
    18. 1:01:11 Does the Bible teach that we can “feel Gods presence,” or is it just human emotion in response to our minds receiving biblical truths?
    19. 1:05:26 What advice would you give to me who struggles with apathy in my spiritual life?
    20. 1:07:11 Do we need to feel bad for our sin when we repent? Or is knowing it’s supposed to be wrong enough? My ex-girlfriend and I sinned and I feel bad about it, but she doesn’t.

Moreover, the videos have also touched on a leader being “beyond reproach.” What exactly does it mean to be beyond reproach, considering we can’t attain sinless perfection on earth?

I put my faith in Jesus Christ, but God used Ravi's ministry to help me grow in my faith. In your opinion, can Ravi's ministry still be used to lead people to Jesus?
His actions hurt many people, and he needs to be held accountable for them. This situation is a testament to the implications of ongoing sin, and is an unfortunate depiction of the battle between the flesh and the spirit referenced in Romans 8. It also shows us that we shouldn't put our favorite pastor/evangelist/apologist up on a pedestal, because even though they are to be "beyond reproach," they're still sinners just like us.

Can you maybe explain the bad name Calvinists have in the English world? I’m from the Netherlands and nobody here sees Calvinists as arrogant as far as I know. Once some American people attacked me online and acted like I was in some sort of cult because I am a Calvinist. Are American Calvinists generally that bad people?

    • @TaylorAtwood
      @TaylorAtwood 3 роки тому +2

@@janbasdegroot2186 I think there are two main reasons for it.
      1. Many non Calvinists don’t tend to get the nuances that Reformed Theology teaches, and therefore end up straw manning it.
      2. The Young Restless Reformed movement in North America raised up a LOT of cage-stage Calvinists, which ended up discouraging fruitful discussion between Reformed and Non-Reformed brothers and sisters in Christ.

    • @spiritandflesh8477
      @spiritandflesh8477 3 роки тому +2

@@janbasdegroot2186 I listen to a lot of Calvinist preachers and at one time would have considered myself "almost" Calvinist (if there is such a thing). I feel as though whether you label yourself Calvinist or not depends on the lens which you view salvation through. I can listen to a Calvinist stance and affirm that God has the complete authority to do whatever he wills and we as sinners have no argument against him, however, I come to the same conclusion that Mike does. Like parents and their children, the Father allows the child to make their own choices and learn from them, whilst giving him the tools during the time to overcome the trial. God's will remains unchanged as individual choice does not have an impact on the Lords Eternal plan. God is just, and man is accountable. Like all things, you will meet some Calvinists, Americans, Non-Calvinists who are humble and honestly seek the Lord, and you will also meet some who have a prideful heart. Surround yourself with those who earnestly seek the Lord and you won't go wrong :)

Thanks for the great videos - One request - more videos of 30 minutes or less! I would watch daily if it wasn't so often such a time commitment. Separately, the question on fear of death is interesting in my own path. When at age 29, after 11 years as a self-professed atheist, I made a commitment to Christ, one of the things that immediately changed was I stopped being depressed about death and the shortness of life - that was a regular problem during my decade as a self-professing atheist. Losing that sense of pointlessness and fear of death was a big, sudden and extremely welcome change. One of the hardest things to get used to after that point, (25 years ago) was the fact that I'd still have big, juicy, pain-in-the-neck problems!

We have free will but not a free nature, and the decisions of our free will are limited to the choices our nature provides us. If we have a sin nature, we can only choose to sin and reject God. If we have a new nature, born of the Spirit, we freely choose God. This is in the sovereign will of God.

This has been a worry for me. Whilst I know we will always sin, what bothers me is that we are told that we grow in sanctification. If that is true I struggle to see how Ravi could not only stumble and fall, but to continue in this kind of sin for many years, right up until his death.
Was he not convicted? Did the Holy Spirit not help him resist temptation?
It is these questions that trouble me most.

Just wanna say I appreciate the time you take to teach. I'm a new believer and I've read the Bible in its entirety so far in my 2 month journey, in the form of the ESV audio video Bible here on UA-cam. I have a tendency to have an arrogant and thus foolish demeanor. I can be quick to speak and, even worse, to judge. I apologize for times when I have done this to you in the past via comments. I'm just trying to figure out how to worship and serve the LORD God the best way I possibly can. My commitment to keeping the Law, not for salvation but for devotion, has made me arrogant already in my journey, and I found myself attacking any pastors who didn't teach keeping the Law. This was not right, it was not good of me, and I fear it was also not good in God's eyes. It is clear that you are a humble and genuine teacher who has put in the time to attain a deep understanding of Scripture. I still keep the Law because it makes me feel like I'm doing something good. However, I believe you are serving the LORD our God in a phenomenal way. And I apologize for speaking badly towards you in any of my previous comments. I prayed to The Father in Jesus' name to ask for forgiveness. I guess this comment is my attempt at repentance. Thank you for all that you do. Much love, Pastor Mike.

On the topic of "knucklehead husbands": I was married to one of these. He "accepted Jesus" just as we were separating and preparing for divorce, but would not take any initiative to grow his own faith or relationship with the Lord. I advised him to find a church, to join a Christian men's group, to seek mentorship and counseling to help him grow as a new believer, I gave him study resources, and recommended some good teachers on UA-cam, etc. His response was, "I don't want to do any of that, couldn't YOU help me and teach me?" That's was the "nail in the coffin" for my marriage (right or wrong) where I knew that he would never be able to be a leader in our household or the spiritual covering that I would need him to be.

At 59:09 you said that a man who sits back and let's his wife make all the choices so he doesn't have to feel responsible is a "knucklehead." What if the wife has the same attitude? (I'm just going to submit to everything my husband says so that he has to make all the decisions and bear the responsibility for them. If it fails, it's on him, not me.) I fell into that a lot at the beginning of my marriage (without even realizing it, i just thought i was submitting to him in everything, as to the Lord), and it took my husband telling me that he wanted to make every decision WITH me, together, for the good of each other and the good of the family. Our partnership looks much different now (mutual submission and respect, conflict resolution and problem-solving) and it's been such a blessing.
Which is why I'm struggling to understand value of the lead/submit model.

Comment on question 8. Yes! I believe that Scripture bears this out. "dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, AWAY FROM THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD AND FROM THE GLORY OF HIS POWER." (2 Thessalonians 1:8,9).

A note on the new age music!
I do believe if you have a background in new age you may have triggers with the type of music used in new age practices (yoga, mediatation, reiki etc) . . . and I think it would be unwise to listen to this music with the memories tied to it. ALSO I believe there is a genre and almost a supernatural connection to this type of music (mediation music for example with flute playing etc) and when it was designed to accompany these practices I believe there is something supernatural connected to it with a feeling that is almost tangibly associated with yoga etc. . . I believe the person who made the comment (LindaCaswell??) about it was feeling that feeling and therefore somewhat convicted. therefore I say to them please go with your gut which clearly warned you about listening to it. "let your heart not be convicted in what you approve". God bless you! :)

I think that it's not anger or mistrust or even hatred that is bringing down the Christian community nowadays. I DO believe it is apathy. The complete lack of caring or lack of emotions for situations or one another. Everyone talks the talk of love but this is the loneliest bunch of people...I know I sure am. I know we all are. We dont even keep up with our own families so we sure dont keep up with our church families unless it's a juicy piece of gossip. Dont THAT get around? But spend a week in the hospital and see who knows. You can't even get a family member to drive you home. Apathy, not hatred, not disgust or lust or even greed, will be the death of the church of our Savior. But then...who cares?

I was in seminary for 6 years, I've been in ministry for over ten years. Can confirm, a BULK of the Calvinists (and health/wealth people for some reason) followers are arrogant, obsessively intellectual, angry individuals. The generally don't let any conversation go more than 2 minutes without "flexing" on people with their "superior" intellect. It's not all of them, certainly, but when over 50% (easily, I could make a case for 80% of them that I've met personally) of followers of a single type of teaching all carry a similar trait, we should be able to poke it with a stick and address it. I'm further under this assumption by countless people all having a similar experience with them. Like come on now. Don't dodge the question because of a technicality. "Not all!" :/ Ok. But many of us have encountered a majority of them, and that should be enough. His question was poorly written, but it's close enough to the real question.

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? I think Mike has answered questions on this before. I would look back through his videos specifically his teaching on the mark series. From my understanding the signs of believers in that verse is unique to the apostolic ministry. No doubt, satan and demons still have the power of influence in this world but as Christ accomplished power over death on the cross, Satan's power is limited. He can tempt but if you are in Christ, you won't be tempted beyond what you can handle. We are called to know God first and foremost and be the light in this world, and where the light is the darkness will flee. It seems as if so many have turned away from the light the darkness overwhelms but when you read the Word, its not hard to see who holds the power and authority. It was Satan in Job Ch.1 v. 12 that had to receive permission from God to wreak havoc on Job. The problem is our world has exercised their choice in turning away from God and don't realize the spiritual influence going on in the background. As the church body our responsibility is to know the Word of God and share it with others. Even if people were healed and demons were cast out, if the people still don't know and love Christ, they won't be any better off. Just my own thoughts but I hope that gives you some comfort. Seriously though, Mike's series on Mark is pretty in depth.

The people who enabled this are not a part of the body of Christ and they need to repent and come to christ or be cast out and given fully unto the world. I don't both sides issues like this. So speaking of baptisms, the bible indeed sets a precedent in many areas. 1. Spiritual leadership should be present if possible. HOWEVER, why didn't you take it a step further? Where is the precedent for baptizing children? Baptism is not something for parents to or anyone to impose on others. This is where every church fails. Baptism is for mature persons who can reason and fully understand the implications and responsibilities of serving Christ. By baptizing children you violate free will and God's desire for us to serve him willingly out of love. Jesus was baptized as a man and subsequently not one baptism mentioned in the bible ever talks about kids. Baptizing children is setting them up for failure. Years from now they'll be on UA-cam saying, "my Mom baptized us at X years old but it was never really our conviction." Conviction first, then get baptized.

They need grace. They have an elitist mindset and don't even realise it. They love the feeling of their ego being stroked and there's nothing I know of that works except just keeping your focus on Jesus and staying humble to Him.
Pray for these people, and pray for yourself to have the patience and grace and character of Jesus to be a light before these people.
