Why Does Orochimaru Wear These Clothes?

Orochimaru killed and stole the face of Shiore, a genin from the Grass Village, but where did he and his henchmen get the clothes from? And why did he keep wearing the same smelly outfit for a month?

So, there is one detail that everyone seems to have missed, and it explains the outfit. Notice that the grass ninja's pants; they're connect with her sandals and are relatively tight. The moment Orochimaru substitutes behind Anko in episode 30 (discarding the disguise), he is wearing baggy pants that don't connect to his sandals and has bandages around his shins, which the grass shinobi doesn't have. Plus the grass genin has dark brown pants, while Orochimaru's are grey. He is depicted wearing these in flashbacks too. I can't be the only one who noticed this.
In the end, I think it was just a coincidence and ironically is probably the reason he decided to impersonate this person in particular.

Wow, nice find! In the manga, he actually keeps the same pants style in that particular scene (ch50), and it's not until the chunin exam finals (ch117) that he has the bandaged calves.
That said, it's a really interesting detail. Chapter 117 debuted in April 2002, and episode 30 aired in April 2003. My best guess is that the animation team created their model reference from the later chapters to get the most up to date depictions of Orochimaru, but somewhere along the production line they missed the continuity error (or, decided the pants should be different).

Either that, or Orochimaru took inspiration from the grass village sometime during his excommunication/the grass village has been under subtle influence of Orochimaru for awhile. Could be that grass genin have a very limited dress code or maybe the dress code signifies team roles or jutsu specialty in the grass village, and either Orochimaru has been into that for decades, or leadership in the grass village are making dealings with the sound village/are under genjutsu, and are puppeted by Orochimaru/Kabuto/Sound 4/anyone Orochimaru would trust.

Shiore's fit was so raw it changed Orochimaru's fashion sense irrevocably. The drip was so utterly raw it changed his fashion sense pre-emptively, sending ripples through time and implanting the design in a child Orochimaru's mind. Finally after leaving the leaf village he designed the outfit. Of course in designing the outfit earlier in time he became the first person to make the outfit and had to arrange for Shiore to wear it in the first place to introduce it to his future self... Why do I smell metal?
