    This is fantastic. My friends and I are graduating art school and many of us can't afford Harmony and the other high end animation softwares that we learned in college. It's great to see a more accessible alternative. Thanks so much for these tutorials, and good luck to the Pencil 2D developers!

    Thank you SIR. Your tutorial helped me out alot. I was trying to animate in KRITA, but its to tedious. Plus you have to install some code to actually export the movie you create. And it doesn't work sometimes. Im glad you dived into this in detail. I like to know how to go from start to finish, even if the visuals are simple.

    I am at 13:25min now and grin.^^ I am a noob at this topic, so first of all wanna say: THANK YOU! As educator and student of Cognitive Science I absolutely appreciate people who share their knowledge. If they are good "teachers" and even sympathic it's a true benefit for mankind..! And you are cool man^^ Translating is a problem though, and I shiffered after reading the first lines of auto translation (German). The idea to improve the translation (voluntarily) came pretty soon. If there are other vids having priority etc. tell me 🤗

    How do I do clean up in Pencil 2D? Do I just do a bit map layer over it.

    • @GrifNMore
      @GrifNMore  6 років тому +1

      Hi Douglas. That's what I did. In this video I did 2 cleanup passes. Usually I start with a light blue color for my rough drawing. I then lock that layer, make a new bitmap layer, and draw over. ua-cam.com/video/i6TmRD-GuKQ/v-deo.html

      Please let me know how it goes. I would like to make sure your problem get's solved so you can make some great animation. Here is the section in case you couldn't find it. ua-cam.com/video/nCX55XLx1F0/v-deo.html
      I also post some little extras on this page. www.mediaresonate.com/pencil-2d-complete-tutorial-speed-run-deluxe-edition/

    I used to use Pencil on Mac all the time and Vector layers were very important. Eventually I found they weren't working the same and I couldn't really overcome the problem. I haven't used Pencil in years, does anyone know if the problem is solved?

    Hi GrifNMore. I want to make a suggestion: How about dividing your 35 minutes tutorial into 2-5 minute parts where each part shows ONE functionality? I REALLY know how these very basic functions of a software like filesaving works. I'm really NOT interested in details like re-arranging tool-windows right at the beginning of such a video. First of all I would like to get an overview about the CONCEPTS. Take a look how TJ FREE does it in his tutorials.

      Great suggestions. This video is quite old now and I would do it differently now. I may get to doing more practical tutorials on Pencil 2D

    You can see the resolution over here *put mouse off screen*.
    Resolution is literally nowhere, what are you talking about, how do you find it and how do you change it?

    • @GrifNMore
      @GrifNMore  6 років тому

      Pardon my error. You can change the resolution (scene size) by double clicking a camera layer. 1080 x 720 is good for HD on UA-cam. 1920 x 1080 is also good.

    • @KatastrophicNoodle
      @KatastrophicNoodle 6 років тому

      I've done that but it seems to have made it even more pixelly and the brushes are just huge. I use 1920 by 1080 and opened a file i created in paint that is 1080 by 720 px and that image is larger than the screen given to me.

    • @KatastrophicNoodle
      @KatastrophicNoodle 6 років тому

      Also I got it to work one time and when i put an image into it, it wouldn't let me draw on it.

    • @GrifNMore
      @GrifNMore  6 років тому

      This page has some additional information. www.mediaresonate.com/pencil-2d-complete-tutorial-speed-run-deluxe-edition/
      It sounds like you are zoomed into the canvas if your brush is more pixilated. As far as drawing problems go, make sure you have a bitmap layer selected. This makes it active.

    • @KatastrophicNoodle
      @KatastrophicNoodle 6 років тому

      I watched the video lol
      I know I wasn't zoomed it because I could still see the grey. When I changed resolution it just made it do that instead of the resolution i picked. Maybe it's because I hit enter on my keyboard instead of clicking ok?
      Also I definitely had bitmap layer selected. Wouldn't let me draw on the image. Just did a line and as soon as I let go it disappeared.

    I’m not sure if anyone answered this, but I have a more modern Wacom that does a similar thing to what you described. Sometimes the driver just...stops working and I have to reinstall it. I did some research a while back and apparently it’s a problem in most of their products and can’t really be fixed. Of course, this was a couple years ago; so maybe someone has discovered a cure.

    • @GrifNMore
      @GrifNMore  4 роки тому

      Windows updates will often mess up the Wacom with windows ink. Disabling some of the ink features often corrects these problems. Thanks for sharing your own experience Lauren.

    Have there been any updates since this video was made? I'm planning on making an animated series because I have too much time and an overactive imagination.

      Audio can be imported to an audio track at the bottom. You should have no problem drawing with a tablet.

    Tips for a better experience:
    -Run at 1.5x speed
    -Set to Spanish captions, then hit Auto-Translate and English.
    Ta-da, the video is now shorter and you have captions in english!

      Follow up question: Is there a way to increase the size of the screen that animates to fill the screen? Zoom well, just zooms but it's be great if could adjust/increase the area that animates.

    • @GrifNMore
      @GrifNMore  6 років тому

      Thanks for the Sub. It Realy helps! So the answer to copying multiple keyframes is that it's not available but on the list.
      For zooming, you can use ctrl + mouse wheel. Ctrl + up and down also works. You get an export size option when exporting a movie. For UA-cam HD, I recommend 1280 X 720. Just keep the aspect ratio in mind while you animate.

    I did a quick crossviewing about this video. It covers already a lot of details like rearrange toolboxes, doubling pictures between keyframes etc., etc. etc. Can somebody guide me to a MUCH more BASIC video that shows an even MUCH more simpler task/project and how it is done. Let's say something like there are two lines symbolising a pipe which slowly fills up with blue color symbolising filling the pipe with water

      The section on onion skinning is here. ua-cam.com/video/nCX55XLx1F0/v-deo.html
      This lets you see a few frames ahead and behind the current frame you are drawing on.
      I use it constantly in this short video where you can see my workflow.
