Emmaline your grandmother was a wise woman :-) slicing around would make it SO easy to take the pit out when you're eating them! Imagine if they did that for us with olives!
You are so welcome! We love to hear those kind of stories. You are the reason we work so hard to get these videos out. We want everyone to be able to preserve and know exactly what is in their food. (The variety is pretty nice too.)
You do not need to prick plums but hole is already made upon removal of stem. Leave headspace and stuff jar like you would pickles so no worry of airpockets. 4c water with 2 c sugar. Boil ahead of time. Add before canning. Leave headspace.
HI... Two questions. Is this a Quart jar, I think so, but if I can the plums in Pint jars, should I use less sugar, like 1/6th cup? AND... How did the different types of piercing the plums work out? When you opened them, were the pricked plums different that the plums you scored all the way around? Thanks :) Great Video. This is the first year my Plums are producing fruit.
It is so nice to start getting fruit. I would cut the sugar in half if using a pint jar. And you can decrease the processing time by 5 minutes. I liked the pricked plums better. The scored ones seemed to fall apart more.
@@WisdomPreservedvideos on how you use what you can would be helpful. I came to inquire as to how you use these canned plums. Do you make a recipe from them or just eat from the jar alongside a meal?
@@raydeenjaques2048 We plan on making some how to use canned goods videos in the future. For this one, I either eat it as a fruit alongside a meal, in a smoothy or I bake it into kuchen.
Thank you for creating this channel! I love it and it answers so many questions I had. I absolutely love it!
Our pleasure!

Thank you for the simple instruction. This is my first try. You have inspired me.

It's great to hear from you. My paternal grandmother is from England. I would keep the processing time the same in this case.

And now you can have for snack later on in the year?
Yes, or great ingredients for later recipes. After we get a good supply of canning videos we want to do some on how to use our canned goods.

I used your recipe for canning whole plums, it was so easy but the sugar did not dissolve and now won’t mix in??? What to do?
Just give it time. Sometimes it takes a bit to dissolve. If you want to speed it up you can shake it a few times this week.
