Tekton had impressed me with their warranty program. Took me 5 minutes to submit a claim with photos (still under 10 even if you have to make an account). 15 minutes later I had the tracking number of the new replacement and it showed up 3 days later. That was it. I don't know how much easier it could get.

@@SPTOOLSUSA where do u manufacture your hand tools? I know even the biggest names are made in Taiwan these days. Also a lot are made in China but I'd be more than happy to pay extra for Australian made but I know its virtually impossible for a company to do that and be successful. I own a lot of good tools that are made in Taiwan,Germany and a few even from Spain. Btw this is just my opinion but ive noticed that if a company brings out some really nice ratchets especially flexhead ratchets then everyone sees that company as having great tools. If SP can bring out a few really high quality ratchets that everyone wants then not only will the ratchets sell but your other hand tools will sell a lot more to. That's just my opinion on what I've seen but id like to see SP become bigger than they are

A lot of the reason i buy tools off the truck is the guys give great service, if the reps don't, i don't buy their tools. however these online companies really have an advantage now because they are cheaper and the warranty process is just as easy. Usually the guys on the truck have what i break but other times they don't and it can take 1-2 weeks to get an item. I could call them a head of time as well. One advantage of the trucks is having a truck account with no interest... Yea i'm sure that is factored in the price. vs online you have a credit card and some companies interest rates are outrageous even if you have good credit!

My experience is that if you pay 100% cash (no payments) on the Snap-On truck for your tools and your shop is full of them, when you really need a tool next day or same day, the driver will go out of the way to get to you.

I really don't even worry about the warranties anymore. It's like if I break a socket or a ratchet it's not a big deal for me to go buy another one. Most of this stuff holds up for a long time anyways. If something breaks I've made lots of money from it by that time.

I had terrible luck getting two of my pry bars warrantied over the holidays. broke two a week before Christmas. Snap on dealer came and didn’t have any in OD Green. And only had one in red. No biggie tool does the same job. Worst part about it Christmas and New Years both fell on the day my dealer comes around. Had both pry bars order in OD green. And gave him back the red one. Took a total of 4 weeks, no fault of my snap one guy. Just shitty timing for a tool to break.

Tool companies are like cars and women... it’s somewhat personal taste and everyone loves the one they’ve chosen for their own reasons and they will defend it passionately. From my own experience the facts are simple... I had a 3/8” snap on torque wrench and no warranty. The heavy duty repair shop division of the company I work has kicked both the snap on and Mac trucks off their routes due to garbage warranty performance. Matco has been the only one that has honoured their products without lawyer bullshit excuses. For my home stuff here in Canada mastercraft maximum is very affordable especially on sale and if it breaks they replace it immediately at the local Canadian tire no questions asked ever. My dad was a licensed auto body repair mechanic starting in 1969 and he’s been very clear that the current gen snap on is nothing compared to what it was. His box is still full of 30+ year old snap on hand tools and I’ve seen them. He’s right.

pat s actually it takes longer for the truck. So 3 days tool trucks if not in stock a week. Not looking too good for the trucks. However where the trucks make out is if you’re buying the USA made stuff. They also do well in offering lifetime warranty on stuff that doesn’t normally have a lifetime warranty.

  • @Peep18m

It’s sad a online company can warranty quicker than a truck. No Mac tool truck where you’re at? We have no Matco where I’m at. The trucks are good for USA made stuff as well as lifetimes on tools you normally don’t get lifetime warranty’s on. I.e. drill bit sets, tap and dye kits, Lang tools etc.
