  • My quest for the 50cm redfin continues coming painfully close over the past few years. Were back on tranquil waters, enjoying the surrounding nature and of course the epic fishing which begs the question is this better than the bay. No swell, great scenery and plenty of fish.

    I hope they cleaned up the area near the gun club and the tracks down to the water. It was disgusting when i was there before Christmas. Stunning on the water - shame, this are a could be a prime family fishing destination if the relevant management parties cared about the pollution on the land, access and development of facilities. Love your vids in this area though - i didn't know they had bass or cod here! great video!

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 роки тому

      Thank you Jeremy !! Its greatly appreciated. I agree with 100% this location is a real missed opportunity. Local councils could do a lot to make this area so nice for families and local anglers and we are starved of good land based and kayak spots in the area. I have been requesting improvements to key fishing bodies for better land based angling, kayak launch spots and tidy up of places like melton res, but they seem to spin you in circles. Itys complex with to many parties involved and nothing ever really gets done which is a real shame.

  • @hansulrichjohner2694
    @hansulrichjohner2694 2 роки тому +1

    Very nice video!! I propose you another goal for fishing red fin, we always try to catch as many below 20cm as possible, this is a completely different way of fishing, we were allowed to use 5 hooks on one line, this makes a good catch of small red fins, if you do try it, go to places where a lot of birds are diving to the water. They are best to eat, remember the "Millers Wife" recipe.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  2 роки тому

      Ah very interesting strategy, the smaller ones are supposed to be better eating aren't they,

    • @hansulrichjohner2694
      @hansulrichjohner2694 2 роки тому

      The smaller ones are definitely more tender, yes, but this is not the only reason, small redfins live in scools close to the surface, if you find them, look out for birds, small red fins bite very easily and sometimes they fall into a feeding frenzy so you can catch them in the multidozends, a very exciting fishing. An old friend of mine used to catch 100 to 150 small red fins in like two hours after work.
      Big red fins often stay at the bottom of deeper water, say 3 to 10 meters.

(Mind you, I thought they weren't allowed north of the bridge, but they regularly hoon around, making waves for kayakers) Have the rules changed? I've never been quite game to go far beyond the bridge. Has anyone ever been told to leave that area?
