What an absolute champion of a bloke you are! Love your work mate & you deserve all the best 👍🙏🫡🇦🇺
Thank you so much 😀
Mate your generosity with the folk down there says loads about your character. A great example of what we need more of in this world. Ripping to see. P.s. The west is the best
Thank you kindly !! For the most part its a wonderful local fishing community, so good to see people working together, encouraging and helping others.
@@fishingmad Community is what it's about. Rocks to the right of the Grey River, between Wye and Kennett has a few really good reef gutters (Long but achievable casting distance) that big Salmon work on an "outgoing" tide. Berley will naturally wash out through the gutters to send them into a frenzy. Fun spot
Would love to see some beach/rock fishing videos from you
Your in luck, there will be some over the coming weeks. Stay Tuned
Me too!
Nice mate your fishing all the places I fish regularly and all of them on there day can go off cheers mate
I'm 60 y/o, and when I was a very young teen, I caught 4 trout downstream from the bridge at St George Creek ( the 1st Creek past Lorne) on unweighted, peeled prawns, while bream fishing.
I didn't expect to catch trout so close to the ocean, but it made my day.
Also caught an Australian Bass on a scrubworm that was just under a pound, (the fish not the worm) which I carefully released immediately, i caught it in the Erskine River from the east side of the bank in the downstream caravan park the following day.
Most of the creeks along that road, all the way to Appolo Bay and beyond, have decent fishing, and most have small trout upstream.
BE VERY CAREFULL OF TIGER SNAKES, BROWN SNAKES, AND COPPERHEADS, when walking up and down ALL the streams because they are EVERYWHERE and are extremely difficult to see until you are very close, so always take a pressure bandage and also wear waders or thick gaters.
There was a record sized brown trout taken from the AIRE RIVER, which was mounted in a coastal shop for years, until it started leaking junk out of it after being there for almost half a century.
The whole GREAT OCEAN ROAD has a wonderful, sentimental, and very interesting history and is well worth reading about and investigating.
. LEST WE FORGET .
Very enjoyable video.
Thank you, mate.
Bob. Australia.
Great video, you are right about the labyrinth of spots, us fishing addicts put in a lot of time trying new spots and often fail but that's probably the biggest factor in being part of the 1% club
100% agreed, people don't see the crazy amount of hours scoping spots, the volume of travel, the insane amount of hours trailing different products and setups, it makes a huge difference
Class act looking after the community. Keep up the good work mate. 👍
Thank you !! Will do....
I love the kindness and generosity you spread in the fishing community. Out of curiosity what was the setup you were running? I’m looking at putting together a light rock fishing setup.
Thank you, its greatly appreciated. I love giving back to our awesome fishing community and most love being involved in the content. The rod was a G Loomis 3-6kg rod paired with a Twin power 2500FD. Ive started using a light 8 foot Shimano Dialuna for this stuff aswell which is awesome
@@fishingmad appreciate it and love the content you’re producing.
You'd struggle to find a better bloke in the fishing community honestly 👌
Thank you so much !!!!!
What a legend
Hey fishingmad, loved this vid, wondering if u could do some more land based episodes more inside if Melbourne? Have a good one 😊
Next week will be a land based vid in Melbourne, and I'm working my way through other local land based spots to. Weather and species biting will dictate the ability to film and catch. But next weeks will be a ripper so stay tuned for that.
Awesome video as usual keep up the good work looking forward to seeing more videos keep warm enjoy 🎣🐟
Thanks so much! Will do!
thank you ! great watch and very enjoyable . cheers mate.
Glad you enjoyed it, Thank you !!
Your a legend for doing that for those people mate :)
Thank you, We have a wonderful local fishing community. I've spent hundreds of hours over the years meeting and helping complete strangers with their fishing, it was great to be able to hand out the soft plastics and by all reports many caught with them that day
a bit of every day fishing vid , awesome Allan , was fun to watch ,thanks for sharing ,good to see a few guys just have a fishing day for fun :)
Great fishing vedios, please keep the good work up, subscribed!

What a channel! You are such a nice person Allen! It’s great to see someone who is nice and good at fishing! I should add..l extremely good at fishing! Because of your tips I was able to get me PB bream this afternoon!
Keep up the amazing work! Tight lines bro 🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣🤙🎣
Thanks so much !!! I really appreciate the kind words and that's amazing to hear the content helped you land a PB bream. A BIG well done from me !!
@@fishingmad the amount of time you put into educating the viewers, when I started watching your channel I was hopeless… and now I’ve caught a fair few decent fish, with the help of you and the whole UA-cam community!
Those kahawai are good fun on light gear!
Yes they sure are!
Allen you're so sweet man. I can't imagine bumping into you and just fanboying the hell out lol.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate the kind words. If ya see me out there always come and say hello.
Great video Alan, really enjoyed seeing some of the salmon you got. I’ve never tried to squdigies sp but going on the boat this Sunday so I might make a last second trip to the tackle store to buy some.
Thanks !! yeah the salmon have been wonderful lately and they will happily take a variety of plastics but yes those work really well. Good luck on the boat on Sunday !!
Thanks for the video! I’m new to channel, great tips
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
@6:45 one of our local couples that come to Bcf Melton! i havent been to lorne in a while especially for salmons.
That's awesome, they were really lovely people, i spent a bit of time chatting with them. the salmon are going great in that region so good time to head back soon.
Travelled from Wagga to Lake Fyans then to Lorne and Geelong and didn't catch a thing. But we will be going back to try our luck again.
Lorne is fishing pretty good at the moment, just flick plastics in natural colours
Try fishing the LORNE to GEELONG stretch again during mid winter because at least you will be guaranteed to catch a cold.
Sorry mate, I just couldn't help myself.
BTW, I hope you catch a heap next time.
We can't catch fish if we are sitting at home, can we ?
Keep at em brother.
Bob. Australia.
Hey mate been watching the videos for a while been really enjoying them as they have helped me catch more fish. I have a few spots I'd like to see you go fishing at to see if you can pull some good fish there.
Hey mate, would love to see the gear you use in these videos in the description. Great vid!
Thanks !! I usually walk through the gear in each episode but try not to get too repetitive. In this vid was using a 3-6kg spin rod, 2500 Twin Power FD, 15lb tasline and 1 rod length 15lb fluoro. Soft plastics were 4 and 5 inch paddletails i white, i used lazy lures rerigged plastics and kettech 4 inch easy shiners and Munroes 4 inch paddletails. Also flicked a few 20 and 30 gram metals
Great area around their, when that new vanford comes out I hope to see your review! Thinking of upgrading my 2020 ci4+ to something newer and right now it’s between the new TD black or the new or old vanford
Nice one mate. Can I just say I’m a huge fan of your channel and your generosity when giving back to the community. I had one quick question though, was wondering if you had any tips for finding fish when fishing off the rocks? I’m currently planning a trip to chase some salmon with topwater lures on light gear (also let me know if you had any good areas around Melbourne and Geelong). Thanks heaps mate, tight lines 👍
I like to cover as much ground as possible, do a handful of casts in an area and if nothing is happening move a small distance and try again and keep repeating that process can really help. I also like to try identify the depth, gutters, any reefs, weed beds and know what species I’m targeting. This has a massive impact on the lure and plastic choice, retrieval speed, weights etc. In this case I was using soft plastics with ½ ounce and ¼ ounce weight and lures between 20 and 40 grams. Mix up the retrieves sometime fish like fast aggressive retrieves and other times they are sluggish and prefer slow retrieves. With experience you get really good at identifying these things and making changes on the go. Have fun with it. Experiment and go with a game plan of an intended species, and a idea of which plastics of lures that will work best. I hope that helps Best Regards Al | FishingMad
@@fishingmad Cheers mate. Thanks heaps.
Hey Alan, Love your videos just haven't seen the Big Show out with you lately. Any chance you will catch up with him soon. He is my favourite besides you of course ;_)
Yeah his a genuine Legend. His been pretty quietly lately, word has it his working on some big things at the moment. So something very exciting coming for viewers.
🎣🎣🎣
G'day Alan, love the video, man those salmon go hard!
Just wondering, how much 8lb tasline could you put on a 2500 vanford?
Love your work, cheers
Thank you the salmon sure are a lot of fun. Now with the vanford you usually get about 165 meters of 10lb on the spool, so 8lb tasline just apply a small amount of backing and youll be all good
Great video Alan, is there any fishing around Mornington? Im finding winter a bit tuff for fishing.
I think I saw you at the warmies today
Yep you sure did, it was very hectic there, caught so many
Caught a few salmon and tailor great day of fishing
Hey Alan, great content! I’m heading down there what lb braid we’re you using, cheers
16lb Tasline elite x8, its a great spot so i hope its still fishing well
The salmons are out in full force. Some areas are much better and got the bigger models.
Awesome video man, i love your content. I was wondering how you store your plastics once they have been rigged.
Thank you. With storing soft plastics it very much depends on the brand. If its a berkley soft plastic it must go back in the original packed and sealed properly otherwise they go hard. Most other brands like Zman, Squidges, etc they can just stay rigged and ready to go. I usually try and store as many as I can in the original packets which I keep in a tackle tactics deluxe bag. Hope that helps
@@fishingmadYeah thanks man, i was wondering if you had any thoughts on going to the northern side of the bay and doing similar land based videos, like around black rock. If not, have you got any tips for land-based beach fishing around the bay with lures.
Yeah 100% im doing some spots right now around Melb and soon after will try and hit that side. Will prob hit spots like patto, mt martha, black rocks that sort of stuff. With the land based stuff its really important to have an intended target species, and really lock in on that, picking the right plastics, that match the depth, current, weed/reef volume and to mix up the retrieves and plastics and lure choices. Have fun with experimenting
@@fishingmadOh that sounds perfect, can’t wait!! Good luck man🤙🤙🤙
@@fishingmadThanks for the tips, i will have a go in the next few weeks although it la pretty hard land-based in my area at the moment.
I was just wondering what plastic ur using I just started fishing and I Wnana know what soft plastics I’m getting the ST grubz soon blood oil like u used at bawon heads and amazing video
ST grubz are an awesome starting option so are berkley gulp turtleback worms, i used a variety of plastics in this vid mainly 4 and 5 inch paddletails in white colour
Ok thanks I can’t wait to get the st grubz but really good vid but can u do some vids showing land fishing near werribee or Altona and close there
Al what rod / reel setup would you suggest for this type of fishing?
Cheers for now
2-5 or 3-6 kg spin rod with a 2500 or 3000 size reel spooled with 15lb braid. Some would prefer longer rods and heavier but thats how I like to fish and I catch plenty with this setup. in the surf i dont mind 8 foot or 9 foot rods
Please come and fishing land based in the mornington peninsula because I don’t own a boat
Hoping to do some land based vids on that side soon
When you fishing warmies next?
Fished there today and smashed it !!
@@fishingmad oh Ye nice
😀😀😀
Have you heard of trout fishing in small creeks in the dandangong ranges because I have seen and heard rumours of trout in small creeks around the dandangong
Yeah I too have heard whispers but haven't really put the time into them, over winter hoping to hit some alpine country and fish some of those amazing streams around Vic
👍
What are this shoulder patches, it looks like an alien's face?
Good luck mate
