    It always blows me away how much all of this is like playing outside as a child. All of these instincts, the love for building fire, shaping things from clay, digging in the ground, building huts... all that is still there, but we almost never use it as adults

      As you get older, the body has become more subject to wear, the fastest regenerating parts of your body, the insides of your mouth, minus teeth and other bones, are pretty close to the slowest, your brain, which braincelles live for about 70-75 years when not being killed outside of age, and reproduce in their last quarter. The knowledge will be there for a long time, but your joints and muscles ache sooner and you lose energy faster (larger body to support, too). So for most, it's just getting tired and lazy so we build what will last the longest with least repair we can afford, though also wanting easthetics (ie. a house with wood panneling over a concret box).

      You confuse the cause with the result. Ancient people did such things because it’s in the human nature, not vice versa.

      Its mud. I agree with you

    • @belalabusultan5911
      @belalabusultan5911 5 років тому +48

      there is a theory that each human goes through all the main stages of history at the stages of his life,
      1) your infancy 0-4 years old you really do not remember that period, just like we can not remember the history of people before stone tools and wheels, all you know is that you built yourself up in that stage and now you are there, able to move, talk, and make some decisions.
      2) early childhood, this is the time you play with mud and sticks, your instincts drive you to go explore everything you see, you want to know more about animals and see what you can keep as pets, you are basically a stone age person.
      3) intermediate childhood, in this time you start have aspirations, you begin to know what you want in life, you start focusing on idols and praising them, you are now competitive and could fight other kids to prove your'e the strongest, you are basically the person in early civilizations like Babylonians and ancient Egyptians.
      4) late childhood and early teenage years are basically your progress from focusing on power, to focusing on popularity, you want to party and make friends, this is the era similar to most (cool) history we learn of, from Spartans to Persians, to Phoenicians to Romans etc....
      5) mid and late teenage years, you cool down a bit while some kids are aggressive, those kids have failed the history lessons and are living in their dark ages (mental illnesses), while you are in your'e living your intermediate period like the byzantine and the ottomans.
      6) early adulthood is the time you stop caring for most adventure, and start caring for money, you are now a modern human being (enlightenment age to current day)
      as you grow older you can see hat you become more tolerant and wise, those who fail in gaining money develop mental illnesses like depression, so you can tell that the future age is more tolerant than today.

    • @ErykaSoleil
      @ErykaSoleil 5 років тому +63

      Belal Abu Sultan : You have a very interesting take on things, although I question your depiction of mental illness. Even those who are quite successful at gaining money and pursuing goals can still be affected by it. Mental illness is not caused by some failure to mature or grow as a person, but by physiological issues such as hormonal imbalances, misfiring synapses, traumatic injury, exposure to chemicals at some point in your life (i.e., lead, mercury, chemical spill into the water supply), or an episode of severe illness. Sometimes a particularly intense psychological experience can alter the brain's workings enough to have long-term consequences. But given access to the proper healthcare (therapy and/or medication), most (although certainly not all) people living with mental illness can lead fairly full, accomplished lives.

    , Its plain and simple yet you can sense how he actually enjoys what he is doing. You pick up on the energy of people in videos too you know. That's why videos of narcissistic teenagers blabbing on about random shit they think is so relevant leaves you feeling agitated and spaced out. Watching him leaves you calm and centered.

      The only thing in the above video I'd want my son to be able to do is to build a fire. If he can build a fire then you can literally hide under a tree with the fire nearby and you'll survive. You don't need to build a hut like that, so the argument "for survival" is kind of moot. In todays world, knowing how to change a tire, drive manual transmission, perform CPR, handle interviews, knowing how to swim, money management, and the ability to use current technology are all superior in terms of survival compared to everything performed in the above video (except as I said, building a fire).

      It doesn't, it was dismantled in the "Primitive Technology: Planting Cassava and Yams" titled video, ~2 years after this video.
      Given the state it was in, It seems it takes quite a bit of maintenance to keep it in shape, what with the monsoons and stuff (though I have little idea about the weather there). The chimney is just mud or clay, so rain did a number on that. And the roof, oh, I don't wanna be fixing that. It's just leaves. Organic material. In rainy environment. It wont be a long time till you need to replace it in full, and that's, like, 40% of the work of making a hut like this in the first place.
