In a way it was; one of the first "smartwatches" that I can remember was the Sony Ericsson MBW 150 which was released somewhere around 2007 and was designed to work exclusively with non-touchscreen Sony Ericsson phones and also came with an LED screen that could show notifications, tell you what song is playing on your phone, and tell you who is calling you. The watch also had 3 buttons on the side that I think were just used as playback controls but I might be wrong, it has been a while. So in a way the main idea of a Smartwatch was to be a watch with concealed smartphone features, and then the "shove everything on a screen" era came along and now hybrid smartwatches don't seem to get the attention they deserve.
I really like the look of this, the health mate app is really good as I have it for some of their scales. I've got the Garmin version of this which isn't as premium but very similar in a lot of ways. Love how they look like real watches and keep your heart rate and steps
I use the Withings move ECG. Great little watch : step counter, full medical grade ECG - which can be emailed to a GP, it's light, discreet & reasonable in price. Connect the app & your off.
Have the £220 version (black with red step counter hand - Amazon easiest place to buy it) - great watch that looks fab and you can find many alternative strap choices online - has all the same features so better value buy than the horizon model in my view
Just ordered the scan watch hybrid 42mm on black week sale. About 150 €. Still saphire and all functionality, just not dive style boet but darn pretty, imo the most beautiful smart watch out there together with the premium one you reviewed. Thanks for the review. Btw i have a Samsung watch 3, Samsung active, Huawei GT but honestly never use the smart functions except sleep tracking and checking time. But annoying to wait that split second reach time i want to know the time + the Samsung ones only last a day so often discharged. Huawei better standby but not a lot if functionality.
For info, a rotating bezel to select menus instead of a push button will never happen on a Withings watch nor any other smartwatch beside the Galaxy Watches. This is a Samsung patent ;-)
Wondering if anyone who has it could answer some questions. How is step counting accuracy? How is the back plate holding up? When going on a run, how's assisted GPS? How's the floors climbed accuracy? How's the heart rate accuracy when doing indoor exercises? What features does it have for sleep measurement and waking up, does it have Smart Wake? Thank you
Normal Scanwatch, tended to read low compared to other step counters about 400 steps per 10,000 (A good or a bad thing) The Back plate popped off just out of Warranty. after a bit of arguing got it replaced.
Always wondered 🤔 what that watch was you are currently wearing, looks Chunky, I like it... I like it alot! Obviously you like it as I notice you have it slapped on in most of your reviews as of late
Spot on review. I basically switched from my Apple 6 (still have it bc of peloton) because I was having to charge it twice a day, and despite the fact that the smart watches don't track sleep perfectly I am interested in getting some idea of my sleep schedule. I can't do that with the Apple Watch because it is on the charger at night. That said, Withings does have a device to put under your mattress to track sleep so I mayl try that. I do have the Withings blood pressure monitor and the scale - both work great.
I'm tempted to buy the standard version B&W at £197 for the ECG etc and sleep tracking although I love the look of the Horizon (youth) version even though I'm an old granny 😂 and the B&W one has to be the most boring. There are a few shortcomings, accuracy is supposed to be the best but an awful display (but after what I'm used to maybe that isn't too bad, lack of backlighting though - that's another con to add to my list. I'm tempted by the Huawei Watch GT3 otherwise. Other watches like the Huawei look more fun but only a promise of an ECG maybe if they get certification. My current old Garmin HR (Vivosmart?) band now needs charging once a day it used to last 14, it doesn't last 24 hrs and is very basic so anything would be an amazing upgrade. I have to change the silicone strap for stainless steel or something I'm not allergic to.
That would be a perfect choice for me IF it could display seconds. Because it can't, I won't be buying it. I love the design are there other smartwatches that look like this one?
I've got the scanwatch, and one of the major annoyances is the fact that the buttons on the right get activated every time you do most exercises, even to the point of doing a diagnostic check! Has this been corrected by auto lock like Garmin has?
@@airmanfirstclass3535it’s basically the perfect everyday watch, It helped keeping me connected in a subtle way with minimal notifications. It is very sturdy during exercise and I even was in a fight wearing it without it getting scratched 😝. The battery gets close to 3 weeks with moderate 3-4 day exercise a week and sleep monitoring ( turned sleep breathing and spo2 off bcuz it drains the battery). The silicone band was unfortunatly bitten by my dog so I only have the metal remaining 🤣
Me and my wife have the cheaper versions of the watch we picked up on a great deal don’t think this i worth the extra cost I have dive watchers that look better and able to go down to 300 meters not that I snorkel more then over 5 ft when I am in the Caribbean Sea on holiday
I have watched ure vids for years and what always makes me laugh is when u say the screen is a big bugger!, have u ever had a Huawei Mate 20X 5G to review? The screen is 7.2 inches!, (not foldable phone), I'm about to retire this phone soon, would u be interested in doing a review on it if I sent it to u?
Don't buy this watch because it's not repairable, not openable ! I had mine for 2,5years, side button is becoming faulty , apparently it's a common problem, it's not under warranty anymore but they told me it's not repairable , so you pay 300€ for a disposable watch !
That's should have been the main idea about a smartwatch. Looking like a classic watch but full of smart features to complete both worlds.
The first smartwatch that grabbed my attention! I’m just so into classy watches that I don’t like the apple watch samsung watch etc shenanigans.

Beautiful watch! Hate charging everyday. Definitely get one. Great review !
Bought the blue one like 5 months ago, really a classy watch with nice features

Watches and tech , two of my favs together 🔥😊👍
Of the smartwatches you wear, what would you say you wear the most often (when not specifically doing a review)?

I love this kind of mix in tech. 🙃

The Withings Sleep Analyser is really good. Used it for a few years now it also plays nice with other fitness Apps Apple Health, Samsung Health etc

Amazing review. Keep it up.

Waiting for your 5 cents on the Huawei GT3 Pro!
Is there a timer or stop watch ? I often need this feature !
Yes, both
What phone is used in the video?look really wide but nice.
Interesting concept. Does that black diver bezel spin or is it just for show?
Please do a review of Redmi k50 and f50 pro.. 😊
Won't be breaking my piggy bank for that. Thanks for the video.
I really love the ECG function. Nice looking watch too. What I don't like, is the lack of touch support.
touch support for what?
...I'd have gone for the 'Chuck Norris' suit of armour.
Great video mate 😎🇬🇧👍
I guess Jason Statham is the English version of chuck Norris!
What about accuracy?
Why dont u give buy link ?
4:45 HOW IS YOUR HEART RATE SO LOW
He’s probably on the sauce as usual, let’s hope he’s not becoming Tech fizzled out🤔😂
0:39 Heard about Garmin Marq?
What was the fone?
I consider buying it but not for 500 bucks!
@tech Spurt
What is your wrist size?
This watch is wonderful classy and cool
£499 bit pricey for what it is. I would rather go for an apple 7 or a galaxy watch and buy a few extra's.
Just bought the blue one after watching this video 😂 that is literally what I want
What are your thoughts after so long
Didn't you like the green one that was under review here?
The green is nice but the blue one looks much nicer

2:05 You had a perfect segue to a "your mum" joke and you missed it! Mind you this isn't a TSW video so I guess that makes sense.
Put granberia on the next one im beging u pls
Hi what’s your wrist size ??
Me and my wife have the cheaper versions of the watch we picked up on a great deal don’t think this i worth the extra cost I have dive watchers that look better and able to go down to 300 meters not that I snorkel more then over 5 ft when I am in the Caribbean Sea on holiday
Won't be trading in my Fenix 6 anytime soon. A warning, no wrist based hrm is accurate, you need to use a chest strap.
Apple watch hrm is pretty good tho
Amazing premium ⌚
All the Withings and Citizen smart watches are based on Fossil designs. That are usually considerably cheaper !
So heavy and still no GPS included. Amazfit 2 is 24 grams, huawei GT is 46 grams....
Thanks..
nice but huge and expensive
Wish they had a ladies version
Looks awesome but 500 pound 💷 hell no
🤔That's a premium price, would chose the other one blindly over this design tho
Smartwatches is so cheap, give me a Rolex watch with smart features 🤣
Love it
it sure looks nice, but too expensive, too big and 30 day battery life? come on did we not send a satellite to space for a decade?
The normal scanwatch is plenty. And cheaper and same functions.
Anyone knows where he gets his phone wallpapers from?
6:42 cultured

There’s no smartwatch on the Horizon!
😂😂😂
You kinda look like jody from just one more watch
That’s an unforgivable price 😂
Boss..👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
this guy appears to be about 4 feet tall
aite
Better off getting a galaxy watch
That is built like a toy compared toy compared to this
Do not buy, no back up from Withings.
Don't buy this watch because it's not repairable, not openable !

Half a grand and no rotating bezel, that is unforgivable
Bezel rotates... but as a normal diving watch, not to interact with the display. This is Samsung's patent ;-)
In other words "buy an Apple Watch"
No
first
Dope!
And the shitters watch
