Thanks for the review Mike. I'm considering this device because l'm a time piece enthusiast and am looking for a serious and as accurate as possible health monitor.
Do watches like this function fine (like a normal watch) after the softwares and the phone connectivity are out of service (after 5-10 years)? Since you said the time is set by the connected phone I’m assuming not. I would probably get this for daily life and get a cheap fitbit or something like that for running with. I’m deciding whether to get a smartwatch (like AW or Garmin) or not for a long time now and can’t quite bite the bullet. Having nfc on the wrist for like train pass and music on my runs sounds nice but having a good looking watch like this hybrid watch for the 98% of the time when I’m not doing that sounds more important to me, but in the end can’t decide. If it works like analogue watches even after the smart/digital parts of it are obsolete it would be worth it IMO, if the lifespan can be expected to be the same as a regular smart watch it’s kind of eh.
the time continues to run so long as the battery doesn't die, regardless of whether it's connected to another device. there is no way (as far as I can tell) to manually set the time without the app, so if it dies or if the time gets off and you don't have the app, you won't be able to fix it. there may be a solution, but if so I can't find any documentation for it online.
Rest pulse would be informative to see wether the training has a positive impact on cardio health...but unfortunately this isn't possible in the Withings App, only average heart rate which basically tells you nothing. 1) Doing sports lowers the heart rate in general 2) While doing sports the heart rate is increased If we can't separate them with gyroscopic information (rest pulse), then the interpretation of what's healthy or not would contradict each other
I'm just tucking into the video. If it's made by Withings does that mean its data will port really well to popular health tracking and exercise apps? Is it's weight compatible with a workout, or is the metal band and case make it too cumbersome to run a few miles with it? These are my biggest concerns to hybrid watches like these.
Seems like a decent watch. The look with the polymer band wasn't too bad and I bet that reduces the weight of the watch a lot. Thank you for reviewing it.
I really wish we had a smart watch with the aesthetic of this one but none of the health tracking, Instead a business focused watch with notifications, voice reply, and calender. And at least a week long battery. I don't need a smart watch for my sleep or track my heart. I need to know as messages come in asap if they are worth bringing out my phone for or not. And if they are if I can save time and reply right from my wrist. If I have to charge it overnight for a day or two of use, not worth it.
Crazy how different people have different needs. I need a watch with ECG tracking but I don't want a smart watch. I really enjoy divers and this aesthetic is OK for me. My phone notifications can just say on my phone. I don't want any of that on my wrist.
Same here, give me this watch with step counter, heart rate monitor and phone notifications. I've got the Samsung active 2 and it's quite annoying charging daily

I've been obsessed with smartwatchs and tried most of the popular ones in the market. That said, I settled for a withings watch for three main reasons: 1. Battery life 2. Looks professional 3. Clinically validated Also, there app is outstanding and provides you with helpful tips and health information on a daily basis. So, it feels like a complete package that goes beyond owning something cool or interesting.
@@meric12131415 After trying Withings it was hard to settle for regular smart watches. The standard Scanwatch is a fantastic choice and cheaper than the horizon if you want something lighter and a bit more practical. Great review but this watch is not accurate : steps, HR ( during exercise or when on bike even worse). I have rerurned my scanwatch for Huawei GT3 pro.
Hi Mike. Thanks a lot for your excellent reviews. Your videos are really helping me choose a suitable hybrid smartwatch 🙂 I just got a Vivomove Style, but I'm having second thoughts with it and I'm considering getting the Withings Scanwatch instead (the regular 42mm one, not the Horizon). Since you also reviewed the Vivomove Style, could I ask you a couple of questions on how it compares with the Scanwatch in terms of "smart" features? 1. Which one is better in terms of notifications in your opinion? Even though the Style has a larger, "double" OLED screen, I find it very inconvenient that you have to tap on the notification icon to see the message contents at all, especially considering the touch controls aren't the best. Does the Scanwatch display text messages in that scrolling fashion rightaway as they arrive? Is it convenient to just glance at them without interacting with the watch? I come from a Pebble Time that would simply display the message on screen as it arrived, which I loved. 2. Which UI is more convenient to navigate? Looking at your video, I feel like the rotating crown provides a more reliable and precise way to control the UI in general, and the OLED screen in the Withings seems to have a very high refresh rate too, with nice animations and bouncing effects. The Vivomove Style has a larger screen, sure, but touch controls are finicky and transitions can feel choppy and unintuitive at times. 3. When you have unread notifications, does the Withings display some sort of persistent icon in the homescreen whenever you turn on the OLED display? Is it easy to go back and read notifications that you didn't cach as they arrived? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, your videos are beautifully crafted and really help people get a good feeling of each watch, both aesthetically and functionality-wise.
The vivomove is more of a sports tracker with a lot better health metrics and - in my experience - better notifications, as it simply mirrors your phone. Withings has a special section in the app where you can customize the notifications that you receive, but some of my apps are not visible there. Messages arrive instantly when they are allowed. You can't go look at them again, though. The digital crown vibrates and is a wonderful way of interacting with the UI - especially if you detest touch screens. The Withings oled screen on the watch and the general design is really minimal: no notification indicator, no weather info, no stats, or additional apps. But You get a WATCH that can also do some Health tracking, and in terms of the watch, this is the closest thing to the analog experience that you will get. If that's what you're after, get it.
If it had contactless payments and a replaceable battery it would amazing, it would last as long as analog watches and if you forgot your wallet at home you could use the ewallet
Li-Ion accumulators usually last around 500-700 cycles which should be 20 to 25 years with 2 weeks of battery life and then the battery would be at roughly 70% capacity but still should work
I honestly hate the generic look of the watch, like I've seen it a million times before on every street corner of NYC....otherwise, it's a nice concept, they just need to hire a designer that isn't lazy and it'll be a success.
Amazfit watches can easily get 1 week on a single charge, if not more. And you're not faking classic watches. And Amazfit ones are hardly the only ones.
Nice watch but it only tracks heart rate every 5 or 10 minutes outside workouts, while a Garmin does it multiple times per second. So therefore unfortunately not accurate.
Honest feedback from experience after working with Withings support for months with no improvement. Got the latest app version. Sadly, it got worse. New problems: BPM (blood pressure devices) no longer works. It crashes the app. Old problems (not able to test) Notifications don't work. Calls are the most reliable, but the rest don't work or are unreliable. BPM results are not readable when using a dark theme. Background color competes with foreground text, making it unreadable for someone with normal vision. If you are color-blind, I imagine it would be worse.

does the watch have an integrated memory and I can transfer all the data at the end of the day onto my smartphone or do I have to keep bluetooth on all the time? Thank you.
bought it. step tracker is very inaccurate. returned the watch.
can you swim in salt wather with it (sea or ocean)?
can the watch show the seconds somewhere?
Wish they made a black dial option.
I've been obsessed with smartwatchs and tried most of the popular ones in the market. That said, I settled for a withings watch for three main reasons:
1. Battery life
2. Looks professional
3. Clinically validated
Also, there app is outstanding and provides you with helpful tips and health information on a daily basis. So, it feels like a complete package that goes beyond owning something cool or interesting.
Wait it's clinically validated?
@@meric12131415 Check their website. They provide detailed information about the research and studies used to validate their products.
@@brainactivity737 🤔 now you got me intrigued
@@meric12131415 After trying Withings it was hard to settle for regular smart watches. The standard Scanwatch is a fantastic choice and cheaper than the horizon if you want something lighter and a bit more practical. Also, the Withings app makes the experience much more enjoyable. I use it everyday to track my steps, calories, heart rate, workouts, and get general health info to assist me in living a healthier life.
@@brainactivity737 ah that's good I mean for me I'd prefer a smart watch over everything else mostly because of the additional functionality speaking of which care to guess which smart watch I own?
This is miles better with just the leather strap . Brings out it's elegance .
Are wrinkled shirts a new style or something that I just missed?
Thnx
Nice Review
Might add that with the nighttime sleep-apnea function activated every night battery drastically decreases to around 5-7 days, without it I get 20+ days with regular use!
How does it work in detecting sleep apnea, like how accurate. And does it wake you up?
This would be so dope if it were able to show Notifications lol.
Is there an always on display option?
This watch is always on
Great review but this watch is not accurate : steps, HR ( during exercise or when on bike even worse). I have rerurned my scanwatch for Huawei GT3 pro.
Wow sweet about time they made an update. Love the previous ones but not big enough diameter. Nice
Why wouldn't you swim with the steel bracelet? Most dive watches are steel
Hi Mike. Thanks a lot for your excellent reviews. Your videos are really helping me choose a suitable hybrid smartwatch 🙂
I just got a Vivomove Style, but I'm having second thoughts with it and I'm considering getting the Withings Scanwatch instead (the regular 42mm one, not the Horizon).
@@matrhein Thanks a lot!
I mean it doesn't look too mad it could use a bit of a bigger screen though
If it had contactless payments and a replaceable battery it would amazing, it would last as long as analog watches and if you forgot your wallet at home you could use the ewallet
Li-Ion accumulators usually last around 500-700 cycles which should be 20 to 25 years with 2 weeks of battery life and then the battery would be at roughly 70% capacity but still should work
Someone please tell me how to buy it in India!!!
I honestly hate the generic look of the watch, like I've seen it a million times before on every street corner of NYC....otherwise, it's a nice concept, they just need to hire a designer that isn't lazy and it'll be a success.
Too bad it doesn't have Fall Detection. I'm looking for something that isn't clogged with useless stuff but want fall detection.
Good vid
Ouch the price on Amazon 😮
Does the screen scratch ????
It's Sapphire crystal, about 4 times more scratch resistant than Guerilla glass 👍
Amazfit watches can easily get 1 week on a single charge, if not more. And you're not faking classic watches. And Amazfit ones are hardly the only ones.
Does it play well with IOS?
Yes
Nice watch but it only tracks heart rate every 5 or 10 minutes outside workouts, while a Garmin does it multiple times per second. So therefore unfortunately not accurate.
I prefer the normal scanwatch
Unfortunately too expensive for the delivered smart watch features and competition!
Honest feedback from experience after working with Withings support for months with no improvement.
Got the latest app version. Sadly, it got worse.
New problems:
BPM (blood pressure devices) no longer works. It crashes the app.
Old problems (not able to test)
Notifications don't work. Calls are the most reliable, but the rest don't work or are unreliable.
BPM results are not readable when using a dark theme. Background color competes with foreground text, making it unreadable for someone with normal vision. If you are color-blind, I imagine it would be worse.
Don't buy this watch because it's not repairable, not openable !
I had mine for 2,5years, side button is becoming faulty , apparently it's a common problem, it's not under warranty anymore but they told me it's not repairable , so you pay 300€ for a disposable watch !
Apple Watch 41mm stainless steel with stainless link bracelet blends with a suit.
Cool watch, but I'm not paying $499.99 for an quartz movement. I can buy a nice automatic watch for that price and have my steps tracked by the accelerometer on my phone. I don't need super accurate data, but I do need a great watch.
no nfc, no calls. might as well buy a decent analogue watch
I liked it until I seen the price :(
Is there a version for women?
That would be the Withings Steel HR 36mm. It's not a 'diver' though -- it's more dressy. However, the ultimate dressy hybrid for women is the Frederique Constant Smartwatch Ladies Vitality.
500 bucks aannnnnnd there goes my wallet 🤣
$500 for this piece of metal ???
Did he just say wawa?
huawei ??????????
500 euros 💀💀
Man atleast press your shirt 😑
Not working good....
Too expensive
Not a good smartwarch. Not a good real watch.
