Thank you for posting this video and telling which order the tubes go, into the preamp slots. Great video, very helpful, including the information on Biasing the power tubes. The Preamp V1slot ECC83, V2slot ECC83, V3slot ECC82. Mine has two 7025/AX7WA's in place of the two ECC83's.

Thanks.... Your video gave me the confidence to do this myself. Although.... I think your blackstar is warping space-time.

Because its been asked by a few comments : 26:12 He sets the bias to 35mA (I think he meant 35 mV)

DUDE. Which way do you the tubes in? Those two. I just took of them out and now have no idea which way to put them back in!

Is it necessary or required to bias the tubes? Specifically the preamp tubes?

You.need to spread the bear claws open before removing the tubes. Doing it that way can pull the glass loose of the base

Hello Chad.Just wondering if you ever use anti-oxidant spray to clean the pins of tube or tube socket connectors. I haven't as yet cleaned my my sockets and tube pins.Thanks,Tex.

Is this an MkII? For some reason I read on a forum you can’t bias the MkII, I only ask since I have a blackstar MkII kentucky special and I have it sent to a tech to change the tubes, I had read before most blackstar don’t need to be biased but for some reason I can’t find that information. Cathiod based amps don’t need to be biased right? Just fixed biased amps?

Not sure if this is helpful being it’s a few months back.. but these amps including the 40watt Kentucky are 100% bias able, I’ve ran 6l6 and el34 in mines and rebiased to recommended specs and they work like a charm. 🤘🏼

And what's the plate voltage on each tube at the time they are being biased? Need this to verify power dissipation for the tube type and desired setting

Am a I wrong but you need to plug in your speakers not the input jack for your guitar?

  • @buzzsaw161

What's the spec on the tubes you're biasing? Very important

I just use vise grips to pull those pesky 12ax7s out.. 🔧🔧🔧

So the ECC 82 goes in the slot that is nearest to the power tubes right?

Chad - nice of you wanting to help others with your BIAS experience BUT this has to be one of the worst "How-To" videos I watched.

You're right... your video damn near killed me. Here's a non-expert learning how to work on an amp while we watch... and nah... let's not hear a before and after.. that would be silly.

    • @ChadBoston
      @ChadBoston  8 років тому

Lol 😃. Yep I got rid of it because it sounded like a wet blanket on top before and after ... So you weren't missing anything 👍🏻 peace

+Chad Boston Lol, that sucks. I was debating getting one of these, but I did notice that it's not a very bright amp.

+Dartheomus yes exactly... But I am totally sold on my line 6 helix and my line 6 Firehawk 1500 amp... Thanks for watching 😃

love the part of. "there in, there are bias. was very simple" and nothing was explained. lol.
This video had a good idea. that's was it. just learn of how bad smoke is...

This is very bad, load s of vids on UA-cam on biasing amps, if you want to do it correctly and safely watch Uncle Doug & D-Lab, these guys know their stuff. I suggest you get a decent meter, learn to use it do a few maths and bias properly .
