Patrice shutting down Derosa for trying to make a point that didn't even need to be made at 6:00 has to be one of funniest low key moments in the show.
He was asking a question, but fair enough. Hearing Patrice's opinion on why those movies are so bad and why some black people relate and pay to see it would be interesting, but it was a bit off topic.
Anthony Badessa how dare you sir I love that shoulder less man he had the greatest podcast with bill burr the name escapes me it was like 6 years ago someone give me the name
Eddie Murphy has made Coming to America, Trading Places,Nutty Professor, 48hrs,Life! that's more hits than anyone can ever imagine so he can just relax and get paid now he has earned his spot!
In Eddie Murphy's defense, Shrek is a hilarious movie and there's some adult humor cleverly mixed in there. They ran that franchise into the ground though.
I remember watching nutty professor in the the theatres. The entire audience was belly laughing through the whole movie. it was really good at that moment in time. People still quote Boomerang to this day. I have the misfortune of being named Marcus, and I still get the "Marcus Dahling" cat calls to this day.
Yo I love these videos man, I feel like Ant and Patrice could have "saved" each other in a way like, They got along so well and honestly them and Norton should have done a show together.
I'm a 35 YO white dude and I remember seeing "Boys in the Hood" as a very young kid and I loved that movie then and I still do. There's something about it that's always really just appealed to me from the story to the atmosphere and settings. I grew up in a pretty rural/country area so there's really no "connection" for me in that way but man, it's just great. Also, "The Scorpion King" is one of my all time favorite 'guilty pleasure' movies. When I used to have cable, I'd watch it every time it was on lol and I even saw it in the movie theater. It just makes me feel good.
Don't stop making these let me back up by saying thank you first for making these we need more there is at least 11 hours of this movie talk with O&A and Patrice
I think Ice Cube could have still transitioned into a more family-friendly genre and kept his NWA-ish fear factor if he had done some 'tough guy whos rough around the edges but ultimately changes schoolkids minds and lives for the better' roles, he had that aura about him. If, after Friday After Next, instead of doing those 'Are We There Yet' films he had done a Samuel L Jackson in Coach Carter, a Denzel in Remember The Titans or a Morgan Freeman in 'Lean On Me' type of role, he could have maintained that image but still advanced and matured it. To be honest, he could still do that, if he chose to.
Nah. He may not have actually been hard, but he sold that image well. He's right, Ice Cube was a scary dude back in the day, i listend to NWA as a "new" group. But then i later met people who worked for him, and they said he's the nicest most polite dude you could meet, and i couldn't buy that as a kid.
+John Webb Ice Cube is a character he plays. I met a few people in metal bands and they're super chill, the raging maniacs you see on stage is just an entertaining act.
He called Mickey Rourke Lil Kim face. If he could see Mickey Rourke now, holy shit, and it's sad Mick's awesome. And I laughed when he said 7 pounds was Sugar Chocolate. It's funny because every time I think of 7 pounds I always think of 'Water For Chocolate' for some reason. And Patrice is right about Conan. Same for Terminator. If you watch Terminator, it is a seriously dark, almost bordering on horror and the fact that you can't escape, there's nothing you can do. Even if you injure it it'll fix itself, you can't stop it. Then watch T2, it's so much softer. Because the studios wanted more money. Still 3 awesome movies though but the first one is powerful.
I think Ice Cube making family movies didn't bother me because he's older. I don't want to see a 45 year old man still trying to be a gangster. That's pathetic. You have to grow out of that shit eventually
veksone77 thats a good question.. art imitating life.? Idk..it the same with athletes.. like it would be hilarious if the manning brothers got caught knee deep in whores.. everyone would go well there not real upstanding people .
Trading Places is absolutely hysterical in places. Dan Akroyd as drunk Santa stealing his own fish makes me howl to even think of it, but I thought the pacing wasn't as good as BHC. Jamie Lee seemed to slow the movie down in my opinion. It's a good movie but Beveryly Hills Cop flows better; there's no slow spots. I could be wrong. I don't love "Coming to America"
Ice Cube will always have street cred because he is a real person unlike corporate Dr.Dre and Snoop Dog. These people obviously never really listened to his lyrics post NWA. His goofy movies change nothing.
veksone77 its such a great play on words. same with ice t.. gangstarapper . millions made there.. young kids now are trying to live it out (meaning the young rappers..)
Madea is to blacks, what the Ernest movoes is to Whites. It's silly comedies that cater to one specific group. If theyre good they break out. I loved Earnest scared stupid as a kid. Us Latinos have famous characters like that too. Its nothing new and Patrice is right, but Eddie was way too fucking famous in his heyday to do that tho.
Sugar chocolate... The way Patrice's mind worked cracks me up.
"A true diabetic would say that." 😂😂😂
Wish i could hear Patrice talking about the Will Smith slap 👋🏽 😂
🤣👌🏾
He would have opened by calling Smith "Mister Will Pinkett"
The Rock must have listened to Patrice on movie career advice
He still did a lot of family friendly shit after that

God I miss Patrice. His outlook on everything from race to music and movies was just mind blowing. Brilliant.
"Little Kim face" might be my favourite descriptive phrase
Patrice was dropping jewels when he was talking about Tyler Perry. He found his audience and fed them
Facts, even tho i dont like his movies he's def platinum in the hood
"Don't flip up" you can't get anything passed Patrice
He was so attentive
He listens out of both ears .
That Sugar Chocolate movie poster is hilarious.
"Lil Kim face" Oh man. LOLOL
When the poster for seven pounds came up and it said “sugar chocolate”😂😂😂😂😂😂

He was referring to movies made AFTER Coming to America. He had a few good ones, but mostly family oriented movies &/or duds with spots of brilliance.
lil kim face.
i see that face everywhere these days

my all-time favorite. I think ill watch it now

In the 80s and 90s rated R movies could be blockbusters but I don't know what happened where every blockbuster HAS TO be pg 13.
