- This song means so much to so many, including Jimmy 🇺🇸
==========================================
American country and gospel singer and guitarist Jimmy Fortune has become one of the mainstays in the music scene, his career dating back to 1981. Fortune found his big break when he was discovered by and began to tour with the Statler Brothers. During this time, He wrote the group’s second No. 1 hit, “Elizabeth,” on their 1983 album Today, and followed that with two more No. 1 hits: “My Only Love” and “Too Much On My Heart”. Fortune also wrote the Top 10 hit “Forever” and co-wrote the top-10 hit “More Than a Name on the Wall”. The group was later inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame and the Country Music Association Hall of Fame.
Jimmy Fortune started a solo career after The Statler Brothers retired in 2002. As a solo artist, he has released 8 albums, one of which, Hits & Hymns, reached No. 10 on the US Country charts. He continues to write, record, and produce today, and still tours extensively.
I had 2 brothers who are Vietnam veterans who were just 17 when they went to war one was wounded but both have agent orange this song brings tears to my eyes 😢God Bless all past and present who served our great country 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The pastor's wife at our church has a beautiful voice. Memorial Day she opened the service with this song. The whole congregation turned to mush. No one was consolable, our pastor said I believe the lord has touched us already today. He then dismissed service. His poor wife kept apologizing to everyone. Said she had no idea it would break the church down so bad. This song has the ability to place you in the heart of a lifelong grieving mother, so powerful. Thank you Mr. Fortune
For God and country. May we thank God for those who gave all this Thanksgiving. Thank you Jimmy for remembering them through your song writing. Jimmy, may God continue to bless you with His glory and grace.
God bless you Jimmy. Either version is special and honorees our Veterans who fought and gave their lives so we could be the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Thank you Jimmy remembering all those veterans and their families God bless you too Jimmy
This is the set of lyrics that I most treasure although I love your new ones with Brothers of the Heart. As you know, Jimmy, it's almost a year since my Vietnam veteran husband passed away. And his mother always said that he started playing with toy soldiers when he was two or three years old. She got to pin his Second Lieutenant bars on his shoulder when he was commissioned by Harry Truman at his college graduation ROTC ceremony.
I love this song. I'm thankful for all our Veterans. Those who have passed away and those who are here still today. I hope their families know each Veterans is special. Each Veteran is exactly the words on this song.
Wow! What a talent!
