Yours has been the best design I’ve watched so far. I’m going to use it to make my own. Thanks.
I appreciate that! Thank you very much! I can't wait to see yours when it's finished. Please send me a photo.
Love the work I do some things myself on the side I would love to give this a try being Christmas is around the corner ! Awesome work
Now that sir is craftsmanship at its finest!🍻
Thank you very much! This was my first attempt and I definitely learned a lot.
Step by step measurementa and materials would be awesome
Nice work on the stars... 🤩
Thank you very much!!
Cool af
This is beyond kick ass! Good job!
Thank you very much!
Bad@$$ craftsmanship my dude👍👍 awesome video, even better turn out!
Thank you very much!!
Great build......
Thank you very much!
That's bad ass !!!
Thank you very much!
Amazing work dude! Creative as hell!
Thanks a ton!
looks bad ass
Thank you very much!
Great video, thanks!
Thank you very much! It was a lot of fun to make.
Looks Good! how big was the union for this? Been thinking about making one.
Thank you very much! The union was 19 3/4 by 14 inches. I picked up the stencil on Amazon. I would love to see yours when you make one!
Ok thanks! When I get around to it. As your channel suggests spare time woodworker.
I'm building one right now just gotta find the slides for the top but not sure what kind to get
What type of slide did you use for the table top??
I used Hickory Brand 20 inch side mount drawer slides.
Are the drawer slides visible from the side of the table?
That was my concern also and the reason I added the trim piece on the front and sides of the flag. The slides can only be seen from the edge closest to you and only if you lower your eyes to the same level as the table top. Hope this helps!
Nice!
Thank you very much!
This is amazing and inspired me to build my own. My only question though is how strong are those bearing slides? Let's say someone not knowing of the table tried to lift it in the closed position from the top (sliding part). Would the bearings be break from that vertical lifting?
Thank you very much. The bearing slide I used are extremely strong. I did lift the table by it's top only. They held up perfectly. My greatest concern was sliding the top fully out and having the whole table top over. I have started using 18 inch slides to help alleviate the imbalance when the top is fully extended. Hope this helps!
I would like to get one made
I would really like to build one of these. Is there somewhere I can look to get all the supplies? I just need to know what wood to get and how big to cut everything. if you can help with that please.
Honestly, I didn't use a cut list. After making the flag, I just cut pieces to fit. I had an overall idea of how I wanted it to look, but I did not have a plan down on paper. The only real hardware involved were the sliders. I put a link for them in the video description.
The flag , with the trim pieces, is 49 1/2 by 27 1/2. The box is 43 1/2 by 25 1/2. The box is 4 1/2 inches deep and the legs are 20 inches tall. For the entire project I used four 10 ft 1 X 10's and a 2ft by 4ft sheet of 3/4 in plywood for the bottom of the box and I used 1 inch plywood Kreg screws.
Hope this helps!
Thank you! Last thing how big was the sheet that you used to make the stars?
@@shyco5 The stencil was 18 by 24 3/4 in. I found it on Amazon.
Nice
Thanks!
Super bad ass bro🤟🤟 you got skill
I truly appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
Always love your work! By chance what is the dimensions of the flag and the table box it sits on?
Thank you very much. The flag , with the trim pieces, is 49 1/2 by 27 1/2. The box is 43 1/2 by 25 1/2. The box is 4 1/2 inches deep and the legs are 20 inches tall. I probably will make the legs a couple inches shorter next time to account for the thickness of the top. Hope this helps!
Do you have any blue prints? Thanks, Bob in Tampa
Hey Bob, sorry I don't have any plans. I just made a four foot flag and then made the box to fit.
Nice video... what tip on the dreaml are you using
Thanks! I used the 106 to outline the stars, 107 to hog out the material and then a grinding bit to clean them up.
Do you have a link for the stencil or where you got it?
No I don't, sorry. I searched Amazon for a stencil for a 4 ft flag.
What kind of tip did you use with the Dremel tool?
I used the 106 and 107 bits for carving. The 106 to outline and the 107 to clear out the stars. Then I used the 84922 grinding bit as a sander on the stars. This gives them a more finished look in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
How did you get the legs if you don't mind me asking new to woodworking. Was considering taking a 1 x6 and just ripping it down the middle
I used a 1 X 4 for the legs. I just cut 3/4 of an inch off one so when I screwed them together the sides would be even.
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 and the sides of the box are from a 1x10? Sorry for the questions lol
I think i used 1X 6 for the box sides. Or a cut down 1 X 10. You just want to make sure it's deep enough for what you want to store in it.
@@euresteb1 the sides are from a 1 X 6
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 thank you sir I tried lol my measurements were not great and the drawer slides didn't work for me but I managed to build one and used lift top hinges
What is the table dimensions and what size slides did you use
The top is 49 inches by 27 inches. I used 18 inch slides, but I go with 14 inch slides now
Love the table. How did you do the stars? Was it a dremel?
Thank you! Yes, I used a Dremel with a flexshaft and dust blower attachment. I used a 106 bit to outline and a 107 to remove the rest. Then I used a grinding bit to clean out the stars. This helps remove any little pieces of burnt wood and gives it a more polished/finished look.
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 one more question, what size and style nails did you use so that it didnt pop out the other side
Sorry for the late response, I just saw the follow up. I used 1 1/4 inch brad nails to attach everything. I used 1 inch kreg screw for joinery.
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 just curious on the 1x material. I noticed you said you used 1 inch Kreg screws is this because of blowout? I've been using 1 1/4 on my 1x and I've been having issues with it blowing out of the other side slightly sometimes.
@@gulfcoasthunter1022 that is exactly why I went with the 1 inch screws. I had an issue of blowing the 1 1/4 ones through . Especially when I used the impact gun. I was just too lazy to change bits and use the drill gun. Lol.
I may give this a try. Do you happen to have actual plans you'd care to share?
I don't, I'm sorry. I just made a 4 foot flag and then a table it could fit on.
I was hoping you showed how you installed drawer slides
I had all intentions of recording it, but my battery died and I was too impatient to wait for a recharge. Lol. Thanks for watching!
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 Was it super hard lining them up? Did you have to add another support for them?
@@moodymade3884 It wasn't really difficult to line them up. You just need to take pretty accurate measurements. I probably spent a good 30 minutes measuring, marking, and re-measuring.
What size stencil is that for the stars. Been wanting to make a big flag.
The stencil is 14 by 19 3/4 inches. I have learned to put wide straps on the back of these larger flags to help keep the slats from twisting.
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 hey! Which size stencil did you use? I See two difference sizes in these comments
which one is the recent size?
@@kaitlynhasselbring6807 The stencil is 14 by 19 3/4 inches.
Do you have a material list
The flag , with the trim pieces, is 49 1/2 by 27 1/2. The box is 43 1/2 by 25 1/2. The box is 4 1/2 inches deep and the legs are 20 inches tall. For the entire project I used four 10 ft 1 X 10's and a 2ft by 4ft sheet of 3/4 in plywood for the bottom of the box. I used 1 inch plywood Kreg screws and I have a link to the sliders I used. Hope this helps!
Spare Time Woodworker thnk u
@@DirtyGarageTx I would love to see it when you build one!
Spare Time Woodworker will do good sir
Cost to make something like this?
I had under $100 into the project, everything included.
What are the dimensions of the flag, as far as length and height
The flag is 48" by 26". That doesn't include the 3/4 inch border all the way around.
What kind of wood did you use? And how much?
I used pine boards for this build. Four 10 ft 1 X 10's and a 2ft by 4ft sheet of 3/4 in plywood for the bottom of the box.
Spare Time Woodworker did you rip any boards down
@@dongarrison4813 yes. The stripes on the flag are 2 inches wide. I think the legs were 4 inches wide. The box sides were 4 1/2 in. wide. The trim pieces were just ripped to fit and look appealing. I don't recall the specific widths on those. Hope this helps!
What are the measurements for this project
The flag is 4 ft by 26 inches and the table is 18 inches tall.
Link to the sliders you used?
I just added a link up in the description for the drawer slides I used. Thanks!
I would like the measurements please
The flag is a standard 4 foot flag and I just made the table/box to fit.
I would love to make my own unfortunately I'm completely inept with wood I build thermocouples and would have better luck building one from steel than wood and the lat quote I got for a table like this was over $800
Wish I had the skills to make stuff with metal. Maybe when I retire, I will give it a shot.
If you live near Michigan, I can make one of these. Send me an email sparetimewoodworker@gmail.com for a quote.
@@sparetimewoodworker1505 metal is more forgiving if I make a mistake I can just lay a weld and fix it
