One of the greatest songs of all time that most people have never heard. Brilliant tune.
It's a great, yes !
Back for my hundredth listen...this never gets old...never...
One of my favourite songs in high school. Thanks
Heavy rotation on AFN Stuttgart, no US TV yet, thank you radio. Many fond memories.
You're a fool, who loves pain! Great lyrics!
Describes me 100%!!!👍😀😀I guess no pain no gain!!💪🤠
Still listening in 2021. Love it. ❤️
Same!!
Nearly 47 years since this graced the a.m. airwaves here in Northern Ontario, Canada, It still holds the same emotional feeling for me that it did then...a true "forever" tune.
Under rated gem.👍
As a singer/songwriter myself, I’ve had an extreme love for this song since I was a kid... I actually covered it myself, from a woman’s perspective.
That is so cool...such a high energy song...wish it could be re released and enjoyed by many just like us !
CKLW...yes! Grew up just outside of Findlay. Good summer memories listening to this laying by the pool.
I recall when they played at my home town arena one summer in the early `70s.
.
Was too young to go so we youngsters sat outside and listened to their music reverberate through the building walls.
.
I remember hearing this song as a child on good old AM radio back in the day.
It has aged well and honestly I'm surprised it did not chart higher.
Thanks for posting.
John Martinez it hit #9 here in Canada!

Thanks, Mike for posting..... You can't imagine how many people really enjoy this music. I grew up with it, and for me it brings me back to a great time in my life. That, and Lighthouse just had a great sound - and they played some great concerts here in Toronto ! Keep well, and keep 'em coming !

Love this song! Heard today for first time in over 30 years, brought back great memories! I was living in Newfoundland when I first heard it.
Played this song on the radio in Central Florida when it was charting and if I remember correctly is was ranked in the mid 30's in our 1973 year end countdown. It was a hot song at Christmastime in 1973 in the upper Midwest and deep south, not to mention that is was a monster hit in Canada. A great song by a great band!
Started college at Case western Reserve in fall 1973....played this over and over! Wishing some guy would find me

I grew up in Toledo, Ohio listening to great music like this on CKLW. We had the best music, eh? This just never gets old.

Thanks Music Mike from John in Calgary for playing these classic hits. You have a great knowledge of the business and appreciate all the background information you provide as well.

Thanks Mike! This was one of those songs that I find myself singing sometimes and thinking back to high school. You always seem to have the songs I really liked back then. You need a radio show here in L.A.

Loved that song; bought the 45 in 73'
They were fantastic.
I still have this tune on 45, although it's a bit "sandy" now. A happy-sounding song about unfulfilled love...WHO HASN'T BEEN THERE?! I love it!
Reminds me of my first crush
When I saw the title and heard the introduction, my reaction was "never heard of it!" Guess that shows how our memories sometimes need a little jogging! Heard it on AM radio (remember that?) in a podunk town in Eastern Oregon.
i still listen to AM radio amm 580 windsor they play all the great ones
I've loved this song as long as I've been listening to oldies on Canadian radio. I guess those stations have been playing the album version all this time, which has a cold ending instead of a fade-out.
The title cut from this album is pretty sweet too.
I love the song and the intro by MusicMike's "Flashback Favorites" just like the radio but better because you get to see the host...:)
I actually bought both "One Fine Morning" and "Pretty Lady" at the thrift store recently while digging through their rather extensive 45 selection!!!
...and I must say, "Pretty Lady" kinda sounds like John Lennon to the untrained ear, though we all know it's actually Skip Prokop - though I wonder how Bob McBride would have performed this one had he actually been in the studio with them at the time....................
Douglas Allen to answer your question..,here from a 1993 VHS tape is Bob McBride singing “Pretty Lady” ua-cam.com/video/17DvTxvmRmA/v-deo.html
Hey MM, I too have this album. And yes, indeed, this is a great tune that should have hit higher on the charts. Unfortunately for them (fortunately for us), there was a lot of good things going on at the time with A LOT of competition. This song has "hit" written all over it, but I soon discovered that the real hidden gem on the album is a song called "Lonely Hours".
THANKS!! I heard this lovely song while driving around Toronto tonight, visiting from Ft. Lauderdale
+Binky Lozz enjoy it....from Toronto.. >;-) watch out for the sharks...
+Binky Lozz hows your visit, I hope people are polite towards you and things worked out with the handsome guy...it could have been me...lol... all the best and if your walking downtown be extra careful the drivers dont see pedistriens very well.. >;-))
+kevin johnson -- okay, I will!! 🤔
+kevin johnson there's a lot of good looking men here in Toronto!! 😉
+Binky Lozz That I wouldnt have noticed but we have our share of PRETTY LADY's thanks for this , it has been fun..Binky
Skip had to sing this, even though the song was written with Bob McBride in mind. McBride was too into drugs at the time, and died years later as a consequence. I think it's a great song as sung by Skip, even though he would disagree.
Thanks Mike for another great oldie. I used to play this one.
Lighthouse was big here in Canada in the 70s
Mike, you are awesome, as is your taste in music !!
Pretty Lady should of been a Top 10 hit , I thought it was awesome from day 1
It was here in Canada #9
Very Nice Channel and very good host!
Keep on Rockin - Mike!
What about some special on one of the most underrated guitar players of all time - Terry Kath from Chicago!
All the best from germany
Faded at 3:15 for radio; damn you, Paul Drew, Bill Drake and the Storz gang!
I had a truncated version of this track I think of K-Tel's "22 Explosive Hits"
Anyone else look up this song because of the Trailer Park Boys? (Sam Losco singing to Barb in the lounge scene). Please tell me I'm not the only one.
+++ i love this !!!,, :)
at the ripe age of 13, my job was to clean out the horse stalles every saturday, so while i was working at that i would have the raido crank up listening to CKLW out of Detroit and this song would come on and i would stop what i was doing and just SING With This SONG.
Another CKLW gem. Better than "One Fine Morning", IMO
Thanks much. You may also like my internet radio station kvkvi.com featuring "Music Mike's Flashback Favorites" 24/7. KVKVI is influenced greatly by CKLW.....since I grew up with it, too.
I bought the 45 when it came out, I played it so many times thinking of a chick I had a crush on....Every day I keep hoping I may see a sign... >;-)) all the best from Toronto
Next time don't wait for a sign, just go up to her and talk to her! ;-)
+Binky Lozz ..things have changed over the years as have I...as a child I was shy...sad really I wonder how many girls I may have gone steady with.. >;-(
+kevin johnson --Met this good looking man last nite in Toronto, and this song was playing!!
@MusicMike2 Your from toronto, I am from Vancouver ya lighthouse was big here in Canada
Hello sir...great channel.
I'm curious what the format of AM radio was called/known as in the Summer of '78?
Simply Top 40 radio or another?
Cheers! - Mark in Vancouver, Canada
Well, there were many formats on AM radio in 1978. But, if you mean what were "hit music" stations known as...I would say "Top 40".
