Kreator's first 5 albums can be matched by only a select few elite level metal bands. Absolute classics that still stand the test of time. PtK is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Mille said in a recent interview that he really needed to make albums like Endorama and to try something different with his music. That the fact he did this is the only reason they didn't disband and that the band is still here.
One thing you're SERIOUSLY underrating about Violent Revolution is just what of an AMAZING *COMEBACK* it was for a band that most people had written off at the time. Seriously, that fact alone for me makes it a B+ tier, if not even an A. CONTEXT, man! :) haha I love that you mentioned Second Awakening. Such a wicked song! :D Wouldn't call it "Rust in Peace-sounding" specifically, though... It's really a Megadeth-feel IN GENERAL ! :) Good ear to spot that! :)
I remember that I was so disappointed with Violent... when it was released. I had such high hopes for masterpiece like Endorama and then they released a "return to form" type of album where everything sounds like recycled ideas from the late 80s. What's worse not one of the melodies on the album is played in tune with the rest of the music. Sounds like the german answer to the tone deaf noodling of Kirk Hammett.
Cool list. I was personally disappointed with the new record and think Phantom Antichrist is super under placed, but that’s the beauty of Kreator. They have enough solid material and all music is subjective that every list is different
My ranking for the Kreator albums would be🤘 15. Cause For Conflict 1995 14. Renewal 1992 13. Endorama 1999 12. Outcast 1997 11. Endless Pain 1985 10. Hate Uber Alles 2022 9. Violent Revolution 2001 8. Phantom Antichrist 2012 7. Gods Of Violence 2017 6. Terrible Certainty 1987 5. Hordes Of Chaos 2009 4. Enemy Of God 2005 3. Pleasure To Kill 1986 2. Extreme Aggression 1989 1. Coma Of Souls 1990
Been a fan since I listened to Extreme Aggression in late ‘80’s. there’s definitely been 3 phases of there music. The 80’s full thrash, the 90’s different styles & the introduction of Sami Yli Sirniö for there Violence Revolution album has completely brought back the 80’s sound but more defined. His guitar work is incredible & brings more harmonies to there music. Every Album from Violence Revolution has been incredible. ❤️ from Australia. Wish they would tour here!!!!
Just picked up my copy of the new album. I really enjoyed it. Hard to pin point my favorite song… I really enjoyed Midnight Sun, title track, Demonic Future. I actually really liked the opening Sergio C. is dead, too.
KREATORRRRR !!!!!!!!! Never knew the original drummer sang as well they slay !!!! Saw them just over a year ago loved it 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟 pleasure to kill is a bible !!! Its just a shame they never kept that original theme as i was never a fan of the whole arch enemy sound im a child of the early 80s man !!!!!

I love the few Kreator albums I know. After hearing what I know I am going to listen to more of them for sure. Hate Uber Alles is good. I think 2/3 of it is great thrash, and the other 1/3 kinda falls flat, but the parts I like, I like a lot. 3.5/5
Is it weird that I love the Renewal and Conflict albums? I like the vocals better because I've never enjoyed the vocals of Mille on the 80's stuff. Also a big Groove Metal fan, so I liked it the most tbh
@@MetalTrenches oh for sure brother, Overkill's groove phase, Pantera, LOG, Fear Factory, Prong, etc. Just not a big fan of the Tutonic Thrash vocal style, got a lot in common with black metal imo (that's probably why I'm not a fan)... but hey, music is subjective that's what makes it fun!
I'm a noob, so doing my research. I have my ticket to a co headlining tour with In Flames. I am very familiar with fellow thrashes Anthrax, Metallica and Megadeath so will probably like it.
For me, I rank "Renewal" as S. It's so good. Songs and atmosphere is great. The singing is great too. One of the true strenghts of Kreator is to actually develop their music. After "Coma of Souls" where do you go? There's no other way to go than to "start over". Renewal is great. And I say that with no nostalgia in mind because I recently listened to their whole discography. What I learned is that the newer albums were better than I had imagined but at the same time very unimpressive. The 80s albums except "Terrible..." are classics and I like them, especially Extreme agression". The 90s though was a mixed bag. Renewal was great, Cause for conflict is really boring (but I loved it when it was released), Outcast... I've only managed to listen through this album ones. What a boring album. Endorama on the other hand is great! Seems like I like it when bands progress and get adventurous and when they "return to form" is where I go and listen to jazz instead :)
Hard to say which is my favourite but their best time is Pleasure to Kill until Coma of Souls. And with that said I think Coma of Souls could be my favourite. You were saying that Kreator should be the 5th big thrash band. And I kinda agree on that because I feel that the German thrash scene feels kinda overlooked. The German scene in my opinion is as good as the American. Agent Orange by Sodom for example, such a classic! Conclusion: we should stop using the term "the big 4".
great list.. 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Endorama maybe worst for Kreator discography but song like Endorama & Chosen Few I enjoyed to listen thus song😁 and Phantom Antichrist for me is a great album for modern Kreator🤘🏻🤘🏻
Endorama is a fantastic album, i mean the riffs are creative and catchy actually, same goes for some choruses, some tracks are kinda corny indeed, but most of the album is interesting, maybe a bad choice for the name Kreator, but i still prefer something like this over saturated boring predictable repetitive thrash albums, specially today with metal music sounding the same 95% of the time, almost nobody is trying to be creative in terms of sound, tone and atmosphere anymore
Great video and btw for the geographical thing let me explain a little thing. In the 90s many German Thrash Metal bands still thrashed because genres such as Grunge or Nu-Metal didnt really take over the industry here. What we had alot during the 90s were Goth Metal and german genre trends such as NDH alias. Industrial Metal like Krupps, Rammstein, Oomph etc. and Dark Rock/Metal which was also popular in the mid to late 90s with bands such as Dreadful Shadows, End Of Green or Secret Discovery pretty much being the godfathers of that genre. Nu-Metal was only ever prominent here in the early 2000s but it went as fast as it came.
Having listened to the new record a few times I gotta say I really love it. There's a few risks they took on this record, with some paying off big time and some that are alright. I have a soft spot for "Renewal". Mostly because at the time I was tired of metal clichés. But I still like it to this day. And "Tocix Trace" was the first song I have ever heard by the band. I loved it immediately.
Endorama is a pretty decent album for its style but it should have been a sideproject under different name, not a Kreator record. But yeah that album definitely has some fans out there
The song Crush the tyrants off the new album pisses me off so much, how in the good lord did they not think to alternate between “us against you” and “you against us”. He even says “us against you” in bursts of 3’s, so they could’ve made it so the middle one was always “you against us. I’m kinda unreasonably mad about it
Gods of violence was my introduction to heavier music overall. Kreator is what set me on my journey of music. Satan is real is more of a political sing using Satan as a metaphor talking about humanity
I have major disagreements. Phantom antichrist and enemy of god are my absolute favorites. I prefer their more melodic side and I think those were the peaks. And then after that I’d rank coma of souls, extreme aggression and terrible certainty. The first 2 albums are raw but pretty amateur
Time to "compromise" myself: I fell in love with Kreator right from the very first time I ever heard them back in the day, and have continued to be a fan since. I’m surprised you didn’t mention killer of Jesus being the edgy boomer track equivalent to satan is real. Funnily enough they structured it the exact same way with both tracks being the 3rd on the album (2nd technically since both albums had short intro instrumental tracks
Never got into Kteator. I find their lyrics very very lame and i also dislike their super lefty political message. As music its just generic thrash. However, i love Renewal and its the only Kreator album i like. And i still listen to it very often.
If Hate Uber Alles was half as good as that album art it would be one of the greatest metal albums ever. I don't mean any disrespect to Kreator, but that's a waist of some damn fine album art.
It's interesting with Kreator because no matter how good the music is I always have fun listening to them. I just look on the album cover and hear the right bang.
I couldn't disagree more. I love every albums from their first Era (Endless Pain - Coma of Souls) and every album from their third era (Violent Revolution - Hate Über Alles) and their third and newest era is for sure my favorite. They would all be in A and S tier.🤘🏻 Actually their first era would be in A and S tier as well for me, it's super hard to rank them but the newest era is still a bit better in my opinion and I do like Cause for Conflict.
Okay, I am about to give you a VERY unpopular opinion but I thought Outcast was an absolute banger! Leave This World Behind had some killer riffs and I can't listen to the chorus of Stronger Than Before without flashing the horns; total badass tempo. Now, Renewal on the other hand, I thought was complete garbage. The only vocals I hear on Winter Martyrdom are "bark. bark. bark. bark. bark. bark. bark." Unfortunately, it sounds like that throughout the entire album. I definitely think Outcast was the strongest out of their 90's material. That being said, Pleasure To Kill is one of the absolute heaviest straight up thrash albums I have ever heard; it makes Reign In Blood look like glam metal by comparison.
My first listen to Pleasure to kill back in 86 really blows my mind!! To me this is one of the best five Thrash Metal Album's ever recorded!! Really love Kreator!! Interresting ranking man!! 🤘🤘🤘
Ive been a huge fan of this band since I heard Pleasure to Kill. Kreator are not just a band, they are the kreators of the world. Death metal would not exist without these beautiful shinigami known as Kreator!
I’ve noticed something about Kreator. Their title tracks seem to be their best song on virtually every album. Is it just me or do you notice this as well?
As kind of a Kreator fanboi (top 3 thrash band of all time imo, and I named my own thrash band after 2 of their songs), it goes: S Coma of Souls, Extreme Aggression A Pleasure to Kill, Gods of Violence B Enemy of God, Terrible Certainty, Phantom Antichrist, Hordes of Chaos C Endless Pain, VIolent Revolution D Cause of Conflict E Renewal, Endorama, Outcast
Hah, can't spell über without "ü" xoxo. Fun fact, Kreator became quite controversial in the scene due to the singer appearing on our German kids channel back in the day to talk about metal. Never understood the hate. At least he actually makes metal, unlike other bands in this genre who spent half of their career releasing hardrock country and ballads during the 90s
When you make a title, you want it to be as close to what people type into search as possible. Very few people are going to search with the umlaut 🤷🏻♂️
Can't wait to hear the new one! D 14. Renewal 13. Endorama 12. Cause for Conflict C 11. Outcast 10. Violent Revolution 9. Hordes of Chaos B 8. Phantom Antichrist 7. Gods of Violence 6. Extreme Aggression A 5. Endless Pain 4. Enemy of God S 3. Pleasure to Kill 2. Coma of Souls 1. Terrible Certainty
@@MetalTrenches I bought it and it's had around 8 spins, the same as God's of Violence. They aren't terrible albums but they don't hold my attention much after a week. The last of to get more than that was Enemy of God. Them and dozens of others from that era need to hang it up now. I'd take another Possessed album tho after the last one.
UPDATE: After repeated listens, They’re my favorite band thus far for 2023. I don’t know what I was thinking before. Man, I can’t get into these dudes. Running through their albums in chronological order and Pleasure to Kill is the only album I can sit through for the ENTIRE duration. I find myself looking to Morbid Saint, Sepultura, or Bolt Thrower.
@@MetalTrenches as a matter of true factuals, I just downloaded that album and I was going to listen to it Right after I finish running through The Cars’ albums.
Was honestly kinda glad to see Phantom Antichrist at C. I know a lot of people who think that album's the best thing since the early 90s material, and aside from a few tracks it left me kind of cold. I'll also mention that the recent remasters they've done of the early material are fantastic, with Extreme Aggression really benefiting from a new mix.
Sometimes i feel people rate songs and not the Album itself. Is the tracklisting good and do they transition well? Is it easy to listen to the whole album in one sitting? Thats why I think hordes of Chaos and Coma of Souls suck as Albums. They have great songs but are so hard to listen through the whole way. Personally Violent Revolution and Pleasure to kill are my favorites. And I think Hate Uber Alles may replace Phantom Antichrist for me at number 3.
Never liked them. I was born in '77. Little older. You know what I liked that was not part of the "Big Four?' Nuclear Assault. Good stuff. ...and of course, Sepultera. Just never got into Overkill, Kreator, Celtic Frost, but always liked the Decide album with a demon tongue wrapped around Christ dying. LOL Testement was fun, peaked at the Ritual. Just my opinion. You do a great job, I learn a lot from you! Edit: I was a Mormon kid in Orem at this time. My first concert: Megadeth and Suicidal at the Salt Dome! I miss the innosence. Could not go to Mr. Bungle then, also missed Voivod on the Outer Limits tour because I was too young. :( Got to see Nirvana with Butthole Surfers and Chokebore opening. I hated Nirvana then, went for the Surfers. IDK, I enjoy your enthusiasm. Sorry if I rambled, I'm following you, I like your reviews.
I've only recently gotten into Kreator, so I've only listened to the first four albums and a couple of recent songs here and there. For me, Endless Pain, Pleasure to Kill, and Extreme Aggression are really amazing and I can't really decide between a favorite on those three, but if I had to choose one it would probably be Endless Pain. Terrible Certainty is good, but not as good as the others. Extreme Aggression also looses some points in the production for me, but still an amazing album. Also, I get why you don't like Satan Is Real's lyrics, but personally I love them. An 'edgy' song critizicing religion never gets old for me lol.
I really enjoyed going through the kreator discography, though ill admit, i did skip renewal through endorama cause I've heard those albums were either bad or boring, though i have been curious about endorama, I did hear 1 song from it and yeah it ain't kreator, like at all, but from the 1 song i heard, thought it was pretty good, but then listened to violent revolution and onward and they were really good, I probably need to go relisten to hordes of chaos though because I don't remember really enjoying it, but I've heard that its underrated in their discography, but not sure. Personally, I still prefer sodom, I just like they're style of thrash more, but kreator ain't bad, they definitely have a better discography than destruction. I remember in one of these comment sections or group post that Id get to destruction and I did, man they got mediocre for awhile there, there's some tracks ill probably go back to, but not whole albums, im so glad that the new album is as good as it is. I cant wait to hear the new kreator album, keep up the awesome tier lists man
Yeah this was a fun and very interesting one to go through with many of these for the first time. Honestly one of the more engaging thrash discographies as a whole.
Ya I totally agree with your list buddy. The 90s Kreator wasn't that great. The first song on Endorama reminds me of Megadeths Symphony of Destruction. Listen to it.
Coma is actually my favorite but I love everything from Violent Revolution onwards. Also, green peppers on pizza is nasty and yet green peppers in scrambled eggs are great.

Am I the only person who likes Renewal?
Not at all
Where’s out of the dark into the light.?
That’s an EP with some live tracks. Not a part of the main discography.
DUUUUUUUUDE !>!>??
just change the HOLE C LINE wth the one on A LINE!
and we're good 😁
Never got into Kteator. I find their lyrics very very lame and i also dislike their super lefty political message.
As music its just generic thrash.
However, i love Renewal and its the only Kreator album i like.
And i still listen to it very often.
Frank Backfire lol
1. Endless pain
2. Pleasure to kill
3. Extreme aggression
4. Terrible Certainty
5. Coma of souls
If Hate Uber Alles was half as good as that album art it would be one of the greatest metal albums ever. I don't mean any disrespect to Kreator, but that's a waist of some damn fine album art.
I love Kreator! And green peppers 😜
Whatever It May Take was a good song from their weird 90s era.
I swear dude you have the best little funny clip choices. Always creative and have me laughing
I aim to brighten peoples’ days 🤘🏻
I actually really liked Endorama and Outcast lol but agree it’s definitely not what I think of when I think KREATOR
Yeah and again, it's all relative
Chosen few sounds like killing Joke
Ive always liked Endorama as well
It's interesting with Kreator because no matter how good the music is I always have fun listening to them.
I mean that would be a really boring video though lol. No doubt it's a solid discography.
Interesting
Definitely agree with Outcast!
My first listen to Pleasure to kill back in 86 really blows my mind!!
To me this is one of the best five Thrash Metal Album's ever recorded!!
Really love Kreator!!
Interresting ranking man!!
🤘🤘🤘
Was a fun one
I always thought Hordes of Chaos was fairly underrated, so agree with you there
Cheers
defo
It's the production
Ive been a huge fan of this band since I heard Pleasure to Kill. Kreator are not just a band, they are the kreators of the world. Death metal would not exist without these beautiful shinigami known as Kreator!
I absolute agree that albums like Pleasure To Kill, Extreme Aggression and my all time favorite Coma of Souls are Kreator's greatest.
I’ve noticed something about Kreator. Their title tracks seem to be their best song on virtually every album. Is it just me or do you notice this as well?
I mean as far as this new one goes, I'm actually not in love with the title track. I much prefer Killing Of Jesus
@@MetalTrenches Ok.
Endorama is a very good Gothic Metal album, but is not Kreator. Works better as Mille's side project
Coma of souls was a favorite but then it got pretty lame and I think it's kind of mid now
As kind of a Kreator fanboi (top 3 thrash band of all time imo, and I named my own thrash band after 2 of their songs), it goes:
S Coma of Souls, Extreme Aggression
A Pleasure to Kill, Gods of Violence
B Enemy of God, Terrible Certainty, Phantom Antichrist, Hordes of Chaos
C Endless Pain, VIolent Revolution
D Cause of Conflict
E Renewal, Endorama, Outcast
I used to wear a pleasure to kill shirt to high school haha but I never really got into much else by them. I did enjoy extreme aggression tho
D
14. Renewal
13. Endorama
12. Cause for Conflict
C
11. Outcast
10. Violent Revolution
9. Hordes of Chaos
B
8. Phantom Antichrist
7. Gods of Violence
6. Extreme Aggression
A
5. Endless Pain
4. Enemy of God
S
3. Pleasure to Kill
2. Coma of Souls
1. Terrible Certainty
Hope you enjoy it!
If Satan is Real is Boomer then surely Killer of Jesus is Boomer too.
For some reason the latter feels less corny to me 🤷🏻♂️
@@MetalTrenches I bought it and it's had around 8 spins, the same as God's of Violence. They aren't terrible albums but they don't hold my attention much after a week. The last of to get more than that was Enemy of God. Them and dozens of others from that era need to hang it up now. I'd take another Possessed album tho after the last one.
Enemy of god (and Gods of violence) better than Phantom antichrist? That's like saying Risk is better than Rust in peace lol
Naw
I also like Phantom Antichrist more, but comparing Enemy of God and Gods of Violence with Risk is ridiculous
Fair enough. Worth trying some of the new stuff or Coma Of Souls though
Definitely
:0
Toxic trace rips bro!
🤷🏻♂️
Sometimes i feel people rate songs and not the Album itself. Is the tracklisting good and do they transition well? Is it easy to listen to the whole album in one sitting? Thats why I think hordes of Chaos and Coma of Souls suck as Albums. They have great songs but are so hard to listen through the whole way.
Personally Violent Revolution and Pleasure to kill are my favorites. And I think Hate Uber Alles may replace Phantom Antichrist for me at number 3.
Rank Sodom albums
The fuck is wrong with You?
Green peppers ruin pizzas - that's so true!
THANK YOU lol. It's a crime against nature.
@@MetalTrenches Hard disagree
I'll take red peppers or hot peppers (especially hot peppers) but keep that green shit away.
nice nice. YES i voted for them as the 5th to the big 4 also.
I think there's a good case to be made
I've only recently gotten into Kreator, so I've only listened to the first four albums and a couple of recent songs here and there.
An 'edgy' song critizicing religion never gets old for me lol.
lol cheers
I would replace 'Anthrax' with 'Kreator' for the 'Big 4'.
I love me some 'Anthrax'. But 'Kreator' has more hits in my head.
Pleasure to Kill has its own atmosphere like Kill Em All and Bonded by Blood 🤘🏻🤘🏻
IT really does
Why it has to be 3 albums maximum per tier?
Because it makes things way more interesting than having like a billion albums in on tier. That’s boring
Destroy what destroys you
I really enjoyed going through the kreator discography, though ill admit, i did skip renewal through endorama cause I've heard those albums were either bad or boring, though i have been curious about endorama, I did hear 1 song from it and yeah it ain't kreator, like at all, but from the 1 song i heard, thought it was pretty good, but then listened to violent revolution and onward and they were really good, I probably need to go relisten to hordes of chaos though because I don't remember really enjoying it, but I've heard that its underrated in their discography, but not sure.
Kreator are no way near as good as Destruction. Internal Overkill & Eternal Devestation are better than anything Kreator made
47 minutes is a good time for Thrash metal
Yup
Not quite my tempo😃😃🤌🤌
One of my favorite go to clips lol
@@MetalTrenches which album you like more sodom genesis 19 or kreator hate über alles?
@@mihzt3709 honestly it’s been a WHILE since I revisited Sodom so put a pin in that
Ya I totally agree with your list buddy.
Kreator are mah boys. I'm biased I can find good in anything they do🤣
How darn you made me laugh lol
