- Did you know the Bonanza theme song has words? It is rarely done, but here is a vintage clip of Johnny Cash singing and playing it on an old Opry show. All copyrights maintained by their respective owners. No infringement intended. This video is for educational purposes.
I'm 65 and I used to lay in my grandparents living room and watch Bonanza! Pa, Hoss, Little Joe and, Adam And ! HOPSING!! :)

As a little kid watching Bonanza, I always marveled that they could burn one of those historic maps at the start of the show each week.
I had a real hot chilli last night, going to the bathroom this morning made me think of the start of Bonanza.

I've heard and seen it sung by the cast, but the lyrics were different. I recall something about "We've got the right to pick a little fight when we want to. BONANZA!"

I didn’t know about the album, but I remember the B side of Ringo was the Bonanza theme. Totally different lyrics than Johnny’s.

Two beautiful Spanish words, Bonanza and Ponderosa, whose meaning is this:
Bonanza: Prosperity, favorable economic or social development.
Ponderosa: That something is done or done with great care.
The Ponderosa ranch was land belonging to the Spanish territory "New Spain" where Indians like Jerónimo were Catholics and Spaniards who lived in peace and were not savages.
Until the independence of Mexico came and then the conquest of the United States, snatching and killing its inhabitants. This is history... Greetings from Andalusia in Spain 🇪🇸.

@@kontryhel_tv LOL, I forgot about it. Yep, it's pretty distinctive - it's an infrared image of me. A few years back, more thumbnails like that appeared (I guess they copied my idea), but I don't see them anymore 🙂

Yes when i was a girl they sang the song every episode sung by Lorne Green utube has got him singing it if you want to hear it,,, then one day they just stopped singing it ,, i never knew way they stopped it

49 yrs old, I still get asked/quizzed bout Bonanza, because of my name.
I remember watching bonanza with my grandfather every Sunday night at 8 o'clock. He loved that show I think he must have gone through a pack of old gold every episode.
Very cool to hear Johnny do this song. My favorite country singer doing a song about one of my favorite TV westerns.

I didn't even know there were words to Bonanza. I sure do remember watching the show. Also my Mom & Aunts calling each other to talk about "little Joe". They were discussing weather Little Joe would get married or if they'd (the writers) would kill the girl off the show. Naturally she died in a fire. Little Joe had to stay single. Mom & my Aunts did the same with Mat & Kitty from Gunsmoke.😄😄

Johnny Cash rarely receives credit for his outstanding rhythm guitar playing. As evidenced here he was a great rhythm guitar player.
I liked what he did in a Columbo episode as well (where he was a preacher).

You're right, I did see that episode just yesterday on a German TV channel. It was the famous song "I saw the line". In that episode he commited a murder.

This was the theme song to our high school, Tulare Western HS in Tulare CA. Our mascot is a Mustang and we are called The Mustangs. This song will be stuck in our heads forever. Loved the show, Bonanza!

I was lucky enough to see him live 3 or 4 times. He had the most amazing magnetism. You just couldn't take your eyes off him. He and June had great chemistry and one show also had her sister Anita who had a fabulous voice.

Then took my husband to see him years later when he came to Nottingham several times. I've liked country music since my teens (many years ago!). My favourites were Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins. Being a guitar player I actually found the sheet music back in the 90s and was amazed then that the song had words. I was studying in to Tony Tadesco he was involved in Bonazaa theme song.
He also wrote MASH and the Munsters. They too have words to their theme songs.
