When they do end up sitting in your arms longer, it's good to see what they like when it comes to petting them. If you massage where you would scruff them or even use a baby brush (Really soft hair brush for infants) then they'll usually relax and fall asleep. More you figure out what feels good for them the more bonding. The shirt tip really works too.

We adopted one last Saturday, she’s 1 and a half. When I let her free roam she came onto my lap and bit my arm really hard, she wouldn’t let go when I scruffed her either 0.0 was kind of a terrifying experience for a first time ferret owner 😂 I hope she’ll get a bit more confident around me and stop biting

You're so great, I'm 15 and over the last month I've been saving up to buy a ferret, (I have a job and have the means to pay for eveything it needs) and I've been setting aside time about everyday to watch your videos so I can be the best ferrent possible, I have spent almost 400 dollars simply preparing for the ferret, any teenagers thinking of getting a ferret should really make sure they can afford it!

You know, your videos are the reason I have a ferret. I learned most of my ferret stuff from you. As soon as I realized it was my birthday and my dad gave me a ferret, I thought how I got her. From YOU! I’m so happy you were there to help me through that time :)! And I had depression then but now my ferret helped part of that :))))))! Ly tysm!

Very helpful and encouraging video! Thank you so much for taking the time to help educate newbie ferret owners like myself! They are just so smart and even after only three days they understand when I say ouch no biting and put him in time out, he came out and I made sure to give him lots of love after and he didn’t try to bite after. It’s just so amazing to me that they understand so much and so quickly!

I find using Raid flying insect killer works quite well but only if you aim for their eyes. They look so cute rubbing their eyes afterwards and the rats make such an adorable dooking noise when they breath afterwards.

This is such a great video. It helped me when I got my second ferret KitKat. She was very bitey, nervous and just totally different, than Weezie. Weezie is our first weasel baby. Both of the weasel babies have adjusted to each other, and our home. I can not imagine my life without my babies.

I also have taught my ferret to go on walks and she absolutely loves them. But be aware your ferret is a target for pretty much anything, so keep a sharp eye out and your ferret will learn top love walks.

My ferts are so tiny in comparison to practically everyone else's! They are so easily tamed if you are kind about it. When I got Reggie from the rescue league he was a bitter too. God forbid he needed a bath or nail clipping! Now he's totally fine with it all. Just don't forget the chewy nummies while clipping nails!

I think animals have individual preferences for treats... like everybody thinks rabbits love carrots, but some rabbits really don't and refuse to eat them. They might prefer celery.Try out different kinds of treats like raisins, apples fish oil etc to see which one makes him the happiest (which you can tell by how quickly he runs and eats it up.) I had a rabbit that was in love with raisins, and I used that fact to train her and teach her tricks. Some ferrets also consider raisins a treat. :)

  • @TOXICPR0DUCTIONZ

They can run a decent speed. Just keep an eye on it. More then likely it will just sniff everything, get bored, look around and make a dash for it to the next spot it wants to explore. Oh and in open areas, such as big patches of grass. Your ferret will most likely make a dash for a bush or etc as it will seek shelter from hawks, birds, etc!

this was the most helpful video yet! I just got two new ferrets from an older owner, she didn't have time for them so we took them in. They're both 2 1/2. (I haven't chosen names so they're just "the male" and "the female) when I first got them I set the male down and he kept going places I didn't think were safe so when I tried to stop him and picked him up he turned around and bit my neck :( after that I will admit I have been very skiddish around him and try to let him do his own thing instead of me grabbing him. a couple days after the same thing was happening with the girl so I tried to gently pick her up to bring her somewhere else but then she immediately turned and bit my hand! at that point I was just done and put them both back in their cage. I feel bad but I just don't trust they won't do it again :( I've always wanted ferrets so it makes me sad that the first ferrets I get bite me and draw blood in the first few days I get them :( I would really love it if you replied back to me with advice :) thanks! sorry it's so long lol

Darian Cofone Have you tried giving him a 'time out' in a spare carrier? This might teach him if he nips/bites that he won't be able to play. If he's not deaf give him a firm no and a hiss when he nips and just keep scruffing him. I don't have a ferret that bites but a deaf 3 month old champagne panda who nips. If things get too bad you could try bitter Apple spray? I hear that it works.

We’ve just taken on two ferret hobs, and people say to be patient etc when they bite, but what people DO NOT say is how HARD the bite is. It bloody well hurts. So I wish people making these videos would be a bit more truthful. It isn’t a playful bit but a very hard bite with a lot of force and they don’t let go.

Good Afternoon from the UK. Thank you for the tips. I have three kits; apart from the exploring running around 'crazy' time. I have been getting them out individually for a bit of one-to-one handling. The main kit who i'm having trouble with is Timothy, he looks like a angel however he has one hell of a bite. I ordered a isolation box for the play room for when they get nippy or in Tim's case a good old fashioned bite.

I have Kept ferrets for years and have 7 at the moment but I got one ferret who is a complete pain in the ass. He tried to fight everyone, I believe he is playing but very rough and tried everything to stop him from being a bully. On his own he is a lovely ferret but with the rest of them he has not really got on with them and it’s been 1.5 years. He is better than what he used to be but it’s not ideal. You need a lot of patients sometimes with some of them.

I love your videos. I've had ferrets since I was very little and they've always been my favorite pet. We got the youngest ferret I've ever owned not too long ago and shes a handful. The only problem is she play bites too hard. When she does we scold her with a firm 'no' and hold her down for a bit. I'm glad we seem to be doing the right thing. She's the first ferret I've ever had that nips, but then again she is the youngest.

Taramaslata is their favourite put a blob on their tummy turn them upsidedown and when they lick it of you can cut their claws. I found the first trust was letting them lick your fingers after hand feeding meat or chicken. Then second trust was letting them bite when bouncing and playing

If normal scuffing doesn't work - With mine, I grabbed their lower jaw with my thumb and the rest of my fingers under their jaw. Yes, i place my thumb in their mouth and gently grab their jaw. This is super uncomfortable to them without hurting them. You are trying to associate biting with something uncomfortable. None of my ferrets bite me at all. (each person of the household needs to do this training)

What kind of bedding do you put in your ferret cages? I don't want to put nothing there because it makes cleaning up any poo/pee she doesn't put in the box a giant crusade of chasing the ferret away from the mess when she sees me trying to clean
