Very good and effective methods. You can depress the caliper before removing by wedging a prybar between the disc and old shoe and levering it back. Torque value on those 12-14mm bolts is 80-90ft lbs.

Where did you buy the front rotors and pads
When you removed the calliper you said you only loosened the bottom 14mm bolt. Dont you have to also loosen the top bolt?
What size nut is that to remove the rotor bracket/housing?
