Tigers have been playing must win baseball for nearly two months. Expect nothing less from these Tigers.
Also like... if the Tigers lose, they dont have an angry fanbase, they have pressure but they dont have... like Pressure for this series, next year im sure they will have expectations this year they are just happy to be here, and happy October baseball is scary october baseball.
Bless You Boys!😅
🐅
Cleveland is gonna lose this series.
2:38 If you throw a slider like that right down the middle if you go back to the slider you can't miss your spot in basically the same spot again. Major league hitters will do exactly what Carpenter did, smoke it.
As a Tigers fan I'm used to being satisfied after Boyd starts a game we're playing, glad to see that hasn't changed. Now we get two games in Detroit, game 3 will be my first postseason game ever, then really hoping to see the Tigers take it at home in game 4!
If not, Skubal for game 5 seems like an automatic W. It'd obviously be nice to win it at home. They HAVE to split here
Skubal was holy shit good. The defense by both teams just fantastic
He really is scary good. Idk if he'll ever be Verlander or Scherzer good... but maybe he ends up surpassing them. Will be a fun ride
There’s no shit in baseball!
The Guardians are hot and cold at bat. One game they will tear the cover off the ball, the next game they do nothing. The series will depend on which Guardians team shows up.
@T-Will-4554 Skubal hasn't even peaked yet. That's the scary part. Baltimore has to be kicking themselves for not going all in for him when they had the chance. No way Detroit lets him go now
What I didn’t understand at all was in the 9th Vogt opted not to walk Kerry Carpenter, a lefty who destroys right handed pitching and is hitting 900 against them over his career, to pitch to Vierling, a right hander. Yes Kerry hadn’t done anything, but they intentionally walked Greene to get a favorable matchup an inning or 2 before and he hadn’t done anything all game.
Jake Rogers has been turning balls into strikes all season. He is so smooth and effortless in instantaneously moving his glove to the center of the strike zone the umps don't have a chance. He's not the only catcher who does this, but he is one of the best to do this.
You are spot on Rogers is underrated at what he does and it doesn't get spoken enough that he is one of thee best catch framers
He is a good farmer, for sure
He's a very good framer but let's be honest, the ump was not good. He had many questionable calls and slid into new favorite locations.
@@guthrienI thought Cleveland actually benefited more from the umps strike zone over the course of the entire game
Parker Meadows has been making some pretty sick catches for the Tigers since he was called up. Great game!!!
He’s been making robberies look routine.
He’s also been a pretty good piece in the lineup since being recalled - great base runner with speed. He hit a grand slam on Sept. 5th in the top of the ninth to beat the Padres 4 to 3.
I agree about that last pitch being insanely low and not a strike. Since two out and nobody on, people didn't seem to care about the strike call, but the Tigers did have two outs and nobody on before ending up with the 3 runs.
Even as a Tigers fan I thought the last call was horrible and it took tarnished a great game by both teams a tiny bit. Don't get me wrong I'm happy my Tigers won, but it could had been a better finished.
The Kwan play was an incredible effort from Kwan regardless. Live I thought he made the catch but as soon as they started to show replays I changed my mind. It's very close, I think it's a trap but only 95% sure, pretty sure MLB's looking for 100% certainty to change the call. I think if they'd have called it a trap on the field the call would have stood also after a replay review. An excellent ballgame from both teams.
yeah, that trap/catch call is hard to see. It's hard to tell, because the thumb part of the glove hits the ground first and sorts of fold/lays flat on the ground before the ball arrives.
Everyone can clearly see the ball bounce before going into the webbing of the glove (there's ZERO doubt about that), but whether it bounced off the end of the thumb part of the glove or the ground... it's so hard to tell.
100% agree with keeping the call on the field. If they call it a trap, I would 100% agree keeping it no-catch, if they called it a catch (which they did in this case), then I 100% keeping it a catch. Not enough to over turn either way.
With all that said.... it does look like (TO ME) that it hits the thumb of the glove, and not the ground.
I’m a tigers fan and I agree he made the catch even if it was frustrating he earned it.
Yeah. This Tigers fan was pissed in real-time, but in looking at the replay carefully, I think Kwan caught it. He's a great fielder.
It hit inside the glove. I don’t see the debate. Tigers fan
and three at-bats later, it made no difference 😄
How sweet it was to get the HR off the so called “cy young winner” according to Cleveland fans. Glad they got to see what a real cy young winner looks like on full display
Emmanuel Class-B. Terrible work by the Cleveland manager, not sure why he pulled Boyd, then he is so fancy having his relief pitcher work multiple innings, very fancy. I know Clase has pitched multiple innings against NY a few years ago, but he has pitched more than 1 inning once this year and this was not the game to get him used to pitching multiple innings. I think it was a trap by Kwan. Great game for the Tigers, even the best player on Cleveland was a Tiger (Boyd).
Tigers......3 runs in 18 innings. Took your "Cy Young" to barely squeak by. Let's see how it goes
@@KneesPHDSay you are uneducated without telling us
@@KneesPHDmight wanna delete this you look like an idiot saying this
@yokoyuhudo5060 what's that have to do with anything? You're not asain are you Yokoyuhudo?
Not a Tigers or Guardians fan, but that ball was objectively not caught. You can clearly see it bounced into Kwan's glove.
It did. It hit the bottom of the glove and bounced to the top of the glove. That's a catch!
As a Tigers fan, once they called it a catch I just don't think you can overturn that. I honestly can't tell either way.
Tigers fan and also agree it's a catch. Can't overturn that. Also, that last strike..ummm. I think the ump was hungry or something.
Tigers fan here, it was a catch
tiger fan, not a catch! if ya can't see it hit the grass go get your eyes checked.
There were a couple very badly called strikes in the game but ending the game on a bad strike call will be remembered. No one remembers the 15 others that happened in the 8 innings prior against both sides.
LETS GO! Lions and Tigers playing great. What a year!
The Gritty Kitties are for real. Go Tigers!!!
Vogt made a bad call. After those 2 singles in the ninth, he should have pulled Classe. He had already pitched an inning. Had plenty of rested relievers available who haven't pitched in over a week. No need to stretch Classe. Had already got work Saturday. Great game. Cleveland is such a good contact team with a scary af bullpen. So proud as a Tigers fan of these kids who didn't let game 1 faze them. Incredible win. Tarik steps up time after time in big games. GO TIGERS!
I'm saying if your cy young award guy can't get 6 outs in a row he isn't cy young material maybe? Is that mean? Maybe a little 😅
@timothyseyka91 if your speaking about Classe, yeah that's a tough call on how to compare releivers with starters.
I'm a Tigers fan but Matt Boyd was great. The Kwan catch is so close I'd be lying to say yay or nay. It was a helluva game, anyway.
Dude, it hit the ground. The Indians got home cooking, that's all
@@thebestchannel5456 You would have had to have had a camera 1-foot from his glove to absolutely know - and when it's that close they are never gonna reverse a call on the field. It's rare but in this case, even with a replay, personally I don't know if he caught it or not - I didn't think it was a catch. You're implying the refs gave Cleveland a break for some reason and I think the refs did they best they could do - and it all worked out for us Tigers fans in the end, anyway. Kwan is a terrific player and if he got the benefit of a wrong call.....I mean, welcome to major league baseball...or just baseball. It happens - it was not a conspiracy by the refs or something. It's just like strikes and balls. The final pitch of the game sure as shit looked a ball to me - and it was called a strike. Again, welcome to major league baseball.
@@guymerritt4860 It absolutely hit the ground - you could see it bounce into his glove. The reason it wasn't reversed? Tiger runners on first and second stopped running when the signaled an out. No one wanted to try and figure out what should happen to those runners if it was over turned. Do they advance 2 bases since they would likely be running on contact? or one base? - since it was so close they decided to go the easy route.
Royals tigers American League Championship will feed families
That was a trap. The only reason they didn't overturn the call on the field is because there would have been controversy over where the runners should be and if a run should score. They didn't want a free for all of both teams arguing so they just called it a catch when it wasn't. Just my humble opinion.
I can't believe he did that against Clase. They did. Playoff baseball is amazing.
You can't believe it? It was a pretty noble loss. They didn't get blown out. Putting Clase in during a tie game was stupid imo.
Kwan made the catch. The ball did not hit the ground.
So the camera on the replay was faulty?
You need glasses.
As a Tigers fan, I thank you for throwing our best right handed hitter the same pitch 3 straight times 😆
Carpenter is LEFT handed
Changing the legendary name Cleveland indians is a crime. The "guardians" have their hands full with these tigers. All heart and pitching. Clutch hitters will get it done. Go tigers!
Go TRIBE!
@@CoVault I sat in tiger stadium in 1968 as a 4 yr old! Bring back the name for cleveland.INDIANS.
GO TIGERS
Indians was the team's name for 100 years, but times change and sports teams all over this country are letting go of their Indian mascots because those mascots were offensive to American Indians.
I'm all for the change to Guardians. Who can be offended by that team name, but a lot of people didn't like the name Indians especially that cartoonish chief wahoo. And hey I'm a Clevelander!!
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 I strongly disagree. The native americans are as disappointed as everyone else by the manufactured outraged. Go woke go broke .
@@michaeldeierhoi4096I hadn't heard that offensiveness coming from native tribes. It seamed to me the most offended were people at ESPN, ny times, Washington post, NBC, CBS at other media that represent certain viewpoints.
Not good when a teams best weapon is the Umpire...
Kwan's catch was legit. I too thought he trapped it at first but many re-watchings has convinced me that he caught it legit. Seems to me, you'd only want Clase in for the final inning with a lead. He's there to shut the door and nothing else. Now, you risk wearing him out and having him get batted around like that doesn't help. Cleveland had best hope that they can get this straightened out because the Tigers will beat them if they don't. Detroit is not screwing around--they're hungry and ready to take this postseason as far as they possibly can. You cannot make mistakes with them because they can make you regret it.
Not a catch. I can’t believe I walk amongst other humans who can’t tell that ball hit the ground. These people are allowed to drive and vote?!?!
As an Orioles fan, be happy Clase at least got the chance, unlike another individual who in 2016 also had one of the best seasons ever for a relief pitcher who didn't get that chance in the Wild Card Game
I'm glad he got a chance to blo it
Jazz Chisolm reminds me of Nyger Morgan....LOL Puig, Milton Bradley more clowns!
If anything it shouldve been a 5-0 game. That catch where the ball clearly hit the ground was nonsense
Let's go Tigers
The look on Kwan's face during the replay review says it all. He knew it was a trap.
That's BS. The ball bounced in his glove and not off the ground. That's what the replay showed.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 the ball bounced into the glove. That's a trap in any league in the country.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096It has to hit something to bounce in. That something was the ground!
@@AntonioMontana-pu8ho It looked to me like it bounced in his glove, but hey it's water under the bridge. The Tigers won. So on to game 3.
@@dennisferguson9129 It hit the bottom of his glove. The refs ruled that Kwon caught it. Doesn't matter though as the Tigers won.
I thought the Indians manager should have walked Carpenter with two outs with a base open to create a force situation everywhere on the diamond.
Oh well, Go Tigers!!!
But then you load the bases and set up a situation where a walk would bring in the go-ahead run.

Was at the game, the Kwan catch is so tough to judge as they only gave one view of the replay. It seemed like based on how the game was they didn’t wanna overturn as a runner would’ve scored, and to overturn that on 0-0 game would’ve been hard to do. Obviously in the end it didn’t matter but still you want the best officiating in the post season
"A good frame from Jake Rodgers" he brought it up over 2 feet. Terrible framing and call by the ump.
Why can't you believe it? When you spend the whole game on a razor's edge, one lightning bolt beats you.
Cleveland sucks don't know how they made the playoffs let's go Tigers
I can. It was fuckin awesome !
I'm not a Guardian fan, but Kwan caught it. I thought it was a trap initially, but part of his glove was underneath the glove when it bounces. If it bounces while it's in the glove, it is a catch. It never hit the ground.
Devin Williams of Milwaukee gave up a big 3-run homer to Alonso. Now, Clase gave up that 3-run homer to Carpenter. During the playoffs, it is not automatic that the closers will shut the door.
Hader as well gave up some big runs against the tigers.
9th inning two-out rally, never gets better
Kwans’s catch was 100% a hit. Regardless, not a fan of this umps strike zone.
Why not Gomer? Shit happens. Don't forget Clase' led the league in blown saves last year. He knows how to do it.
The replays of Kwan's catch were inconclusive to me. While he may have trapped the baseball, there wasn't clear evidence to overturn the call made on the field. Ultimately, it's a moot point since it didn't really affect the outcome of the game.
that low ball wasnt the only call he missed, the one before that was way inside, but Tigers got screwed in the 8th by a couple of really bad balls too so dude was kinda all over the place
"Ump just wanted to go home"? "Thier unstoppable weapon has a weakness" So cliche'
As a Tigers fan, the ump was definitely being nice to our last pitcher in the 9th, but I'll take it!
There were a couple of egregiously bad strike calls that I noticed -- against both teams.
The Tigers have the advantage now and looks like they very well might do it. The big mistake by the Guardians was using Clase the way they used him.
I would argue this was a make or break for both teams, Guardians just lost home field advantage and if they make it back to Cleveland they get to face Skubal again, both are less than ideal. Tigers are playing with house money and nothing to lose.
The bad calls on strikes/balls and the failed reviews in not only this game but in 3 other games two days ago are disgraceful.
They need to have AI call the balls & strikes starting next year. It's ridiculous, it will improve the game 100%
As thrilling as it is to watch, it would be easier on my nerves if the Tigers decided to win a game NOT in the 8th inning.
Balls and strikes were horrible the entire game. The last one being the worst.
Kwan may or may not have made that catch...it's really impossible to tell on the replay, so whatever ruling was made on the field had to stand.
I was surprised but it is what it is. That’s playoff baseball. Guards will come back and win 2 in Detroit
🤨🤨🤨
@@SecondFootOfficial Fat chance, and if it goes five you face Skubal again.
That was a bad call on the catcher. 3 offspeed pitches in a row and around the plate?
Not a catch by Kwan. Ball clearly makes contact with the ground and kicks back into the glove. So much for instant replay.
2-2 count 2 outs… Clase pitching… and…
Go Tigers!!
Believe. That. Shit.
Most Cleveland sports thing
The picther was not hitting its spots so they should have improvised
Not shocking at all -- If you've watched Cleveland baseball for any amount of time this is the same script they've used since the 1990's
He caught it cause his glove is under the ball as it hits the ground.
Bummer.
First off I’ve lived in Cleveland all my life and this is nothing new,I lost respect for this team when they changed their name they should have kept the Indians name, next the owners are more concerned in putting millions into the relatively new stadium to get more people in the stands instead of better players on the field their whole method with players is take a no name player and turn him into a star then if that guy ends up being a good player the following season he wants more money and they trade him to the Yankees that’s how they work, you can’t always polish a turd into a diamond, sometimes you have to invest to get a good return but I guess their content with being the Yankees farm team!!!
You didn’t watch the first game if you think it was a blowout.
Detroit..beats the mistake on the lake..
he didn’t catch that bs
2 outs 9th inning give me Clase 10 times out of 10 to get that final out.
Once legal betting came into play you knew you were going to see more and more home plate calls like that . That was NOWHERE NEAR being a strike
After the HR, Keith had a ball 4 inches inside called a strike as well - think blue just wanted the game to end.
