I really enjoyed the first one and I do want to check this one out. I think people considered the first movie to be an origin story for the Joker and thought this next movie would be the rise of the Joker, at least with this actor. They obviously went in an unexpected direction and maybe not one that will appeal to general audiences. Anyway, great review and I'll be sure to check it out soon
@@bestfriendsthesequel I’ll be interested to see what you think. Just about everyone in my timeline doesn’t like it.
Awesome review man I'm on your side I also love and defend Folie A Deux and think the haters are being FAR TOO HARSH on it. I love that it's a musical as it's so unique and different we've never had a comic book movie musical until now so this movie should inspire me. I bought Joker and Harley's love story and cried by the end of this film. This could be my movie of the year and I enjoyed it more than Deadpool and Wolverine!
@@HarryThomasPictures Deadpool for me doesn’t really have rewatch value mainly from its story. The cameos were cool but, this is something I’d watch multiple times. The character study and the music had me drawn in.
It’s nice to hearing a refreshing, great take on a movie most people don’t like or like myself, in the middle.
It’s great that you enjoyed this one man and I definitely agree that this is different and a one where it feels like they’re taking a chance
@@DidYouZThat I definitely want to go back and see what I may have not have picked up on.
Appreciate your honest review!
@@KDawgzzz No problem. Appreciate you stoping by.
Great review! I did like some of this considering it wasn't as good as its predecessor. But I felt that the ending was alright and that some of the courtroom scenes could've gotten trimmed down a little.
Fair enough. At least some of it worked. I was intrigued with the courtroom stuff. I’m into it naturally.
I am glad you enjoyed it buddy! Its refreshing to hear a positive review. We know its mostly negative reviews lol. The positive and in the middle reviews are far and few between lol
Yeah it’s pretty much a hated film overall. I think it’s going to gain a following down the line.
@@RavensOsFan89 ohh in 5 yrs it will be a cult classic
I was sooo curious as to what you thought of this movie! I had to read spoilers for this cause I needed to know why everyone hated it so much.
I did see Wish and really REALLY did not like it (and I love Disney movies); I saw Elemental though and really enjoyed it 😊 I think, unfortunately, Disney’s original films just weren’t good or didn’t have a draw to them (aside from Elemental, I really enjoyed it).
I agree that the ending for this movie was the right ending and since you talked about spoilers, I’ll say that I could have sworn that Todd Philips said in interviews during the first movie that Arthur Fleck might or might not have been the Joker, like he never ever said that Arthur Fleck was definitively the Joker so the ending makes sense to me. Oooo I like your take that some of Harley’s scenes was in his head.
I thought it was an interesting movie despite its slower and not having a ton of action. Instead of being just a mindless movie I thought it was more artsy. Mixing artsy with musicals is a tough sell for a mainstream crowd.
@ Yeah that’s true.
Great Review! I’m glad you loved the film, and the more I think about it, and sit with it - the more I think I like it. I really want to see it again, and you make some great points - most people didn’t like this one cuz they didn’t expect it and wanted it to be like the 1st. I’m glad you liked the ending, and maybe I’ll be more positive towards it on a rewatch, but for now - it’s definitely the weakest part of the film for me.
@@HarCoolReviews I feel overtime it will gain a cult following and it’ll be appreciated more. Yeah expectations played a key role in this one.
No matter what critics say, i have no interest in seeing the movie.
Did you not like the 1st one either?
@@RavensOsFan89 i dug the first one .
The first Joker was dark but good... Joker 2 was a disappointment... Although the music was telling a story, it didn't work for me... The storyline had potential minus the music... The director, Todd Phillips, went a different direction and said, "That's All Folks!"
@@EmperiolReviews Lol
I don't know man I just can't watch a movie where Joker gets butt pounded.
Gotcha
Glad you enjoyed this one. I wasnt big on the ending or the majority of the music but nearly everything in-between, i rather enjoyed.
@@NtYourNormalGeek Fair enough that’s the main criticism I’ve heard about it.
I really wanted to see this since I liked the first one, but I couldn’t find the time. I’ll check it out when it hits streaming and stick to Terrifier 3 and Smile 2 the next two weeks.
Yeah I’m seeing both of those as well. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on it
I haven't seen this film yet. I'm glad you really enjoyed it. Phoenix is one of my fav actors. I did see the first Joker film and I truly enjoyed it. Art is subjective. Thank you for your review.
Very true about Art. Hopefully you really enjoy it
Fair review. I'm working on mine at the moment. Spoilers: wasn't a fan. I just found it an unnecessary follow-up anyway since the first film didn't feel like it needed a sequel. I just felt the story wasn't as compelling as the first film, it did have interesting ideas, but I wish they were executed better, especially the stuff with harleen quinzel. The songs were okay on their own, but I felt they didn't further the trajectory of the story. If it's going to be a musical, it's gonna have to do that. You did make some fair points, especially with the ending, but I can say that I was personally let down by it. I recommend staying tuned for my review, but in the meantime, I recommend watching my 3 year anniversary Q&A!
For me I was happy it was something different. I could understand if some of the songs didn’t work and sure they could have done more with Lady Gaga. I have some more videos to catch up on but I have it saved in my watch later so I will get to it.
First positive review I hear lol
I kinda enjoyed it for what it was which it is surprising bc I don’t like musicals (personally I don’t call it a musical 🤷🏻♂️). However, it was a one-time watch for me. Don’t see myself watching it again at all.
Fair enough. Yeah I’ve heard maybe a couple other reviews that liked it.
AYE ! Way to go Ryan, Breaking the mold. I have yet to have time to see it but i wonder if ill be agreeing or disagreeing with everyone
I’m one of the few that likes it but, there’s a few of us out there
Nice review. The first movie is arguably my favorite movie of all time and I was really excited for the sequel despite the musical. But I'm so disappointed in basically all of it. I just think they disrespected the great Joker that arthur became by the end of the first movie! I did enjoy some scenes despite all that
At least it wasn’t all bad for you. I figured it was going to ruffle the audience but, didn’t expect the low scores for it.
I agree with a lot of your points. The movie was a natural progression of his story. There are a lot of great elements. I just wasn't a big fan of the musical aspecct.
@@ZachAttackReviews Yeah I think the musical aspect has really turned many off from it.
yeah very surprised at the backlash about it. I was kind of excited about it, and am quite confused about why it could be so bad, aside from brining Gaga into the mix. Not sure what the issue is. I admit it's put it on the "wait to see some first" list instead of the insta buy list. I'll have to see it but am quite interested now that such bad reviews. I also admit I'm not much into turning the sequel into a musical? All very strange.
@@HorrorMetalMaestroRedrusty66 In general I think most don’t like musicals, it doesn’t have alot of action which i think turns others off and then the ending seems to be the reasons why it’s not liked.
@@RavensOsFan89 Also, I think only non mainstream film lovers, indie film lovers and those cinephiles who are not chained to "only the newest fad" and mainstream film offerings will give the film or films like this a chance.
I’ll be honest while I was in the minority that found the first one to be okay I really did not think a sequel to be needed but this has been one of the more positive review I have seen and fair play that you got enjoyment out of it I haven’t checked out the movie but honestly saw the spoilers and the ending just seems really disappointing great review man and hope you and the family are staying safe
Thanks dude. Yeah I can understand why you would feel that way. Hope you are well as well. Yeah the ending has left a sour taste in many mouths.
Great Review my friend, the criticism on the movie is way too harsh. You make a lot of valid points my friend, I agree the movie didn’t deserve the hate. It’ll grown into a cult favourite im telling you. It just needs time. Killing Arthur definitely makes sense. I love the animated opening that was a nice touch.
@@chesareroach yes I forgot to mention that. That was cool. Give it a few years people will warm up to it.
@@RavensOsFan89I agree, I kind of think people were not ready for what it ended up being, it will get legs of it’s own.
First positive review I've seen on this. Not surprising since its probably not worth the backlash from angry haters for anyone to say they liked it. Might check it out if it ever comes to Max
It should come to max since it’s Warner bros. They already announced the 4k for Dec 17th
@@RavensOsFan89 I hope it does. Been crazy busy trying to keep up with new spooky movies
Agree with you on most things, aside from Harley Quinn. Her characterization was all background and subtle. She's a master manipulator that used Arthur until he disappointed her and then she had him murdered in the jail. She was the antagonist of the film in a lot of ways. She was there at the steps so she could get her closure. As for the ending, it was the only thing that made sense. He had to die. His death cements the idea that the Joker isn't a person, it's an idea that infects other people.
The story doesn't work without it.
Yeah i definitely need to watch it again to catch a few more details. Glad we can agree.
Ouch! This was a tough watch. But I'm glad you enjoyed it ❤
Definitely had a good time with it.
Hearing that the original Joker was one of your all-time faves, prompts me to try and re-visit it. I wasn't a fan. Glad you enjoyed this as it adds to your overall joy of Joker.
I think I generally enjoyed this because I had no expectations and wasn't a fan already. Throw in a courtroom (love courtroom drama) an artsy approach and I was always going to enjoy it.
@@nickpellatt Yeah i definitely enjoyed the different approach but, sadly will never get something like this again
@@RavensOsFan89 I've just checked the UK, free-to-stream sites for something to watch tonight, and ITVx (our main commercial TV station) has the original Joker free to air. So I'll be watching that tonight!
It's a great movie and the ending is perfect. I view Arthur Fleck as the original Joker that accidentally inspired the traditional Joker.
This main story was somewhat predictable for me, because I never viewed Arthur Fleck is a madman. He was a decent guy that became sensitive enough get violent with his bullies or anyone being rude to him. That's NOT my idea of a madman. A madman wouldn't need to be directly bothered and would attack randomly imo. So I had already expected him to likely be an influence for a legit madman in the future to take his Joker act and run with it and I had no problem with them going that route. This movie confirmed everything that I already thought about Arthur and ended in a similar way that I expected and I loved all of it.
After these two Joker movies, Todd Phillips is officially one of the greatest directors ever for me. Unfortunately, his type of intellect, combined with artistic integrity- is not something that casual moviegoers or typical comic book fans are into. They prefer left or right and do or die. Both Joker movies were way beyond that.
Yeah both films are great and i definitely respect his vision. Yeah I didn’t view him as a psycho either.
I do think Phillips and company made it polarizing on purpose to dissuade Warner Bros from trying to do a Joker franchise (much like Rob Zombie did with the sequel to his Halloween remake).😅
Sounds like too much work to sabotage a franchise.
@@RavensOsFan89not if you’re really against it happening
I think the problem with this film was it tried to market to the wrong crowd. Taking a musical approach and trying to feed that to Joker fans, or CBM fans generally, wasn’t going to work. I don’t think this is the risk one should release after following up to its highly praised predecessor. Also, I actually do believe people support original films, it all comes down to marketing and what reviewers are saying. Nonetheless, great review Ryan 🙂
Thank you. Marketing definitely does play a factor for sure. Reviews yeah seems to set the tone how well it’ll do.
The joker film really scares me,,,,, but I love this cast,,,,, I just remember I hated the first joker movie,,,,,,,, was it good,,,, of course it was,,,,, but after hearing his laugh,,,, I started hallucinating,,,,, seriously,,,, 😒 but I might actually give this one a go just because of the cast
This is way different then that last one. Definitely less action
@@RavensOsFan89 yeah,,,,, 👍 after your review,,,, I’m thinking about watching it
Highly disagree. Especially as a giant fan of that original. But cool to see someone against the mainstream! I will say this one was on the same level from a technical and filmmaking perspective, it’s well helmed. And I was fairly on board with the first half. It felt like a natural enough continuation of the original. The second half and ending is where I really saw this story didn’t really need to exist to me. Nothing really happens besides musical numbers inside his head, which isn’t at all consistent with a very real world story we got previously. Harley’s inclusion felt pointless to me, the romantic aspect was forced between the two.
So none of it worked for you?
@@RavensOsFan89 just edited my comment with my full thoughts
@@jasonchilado I do wonder if it’ll build into anything else with the new guy at the end. I kinda feel it won’t so then in a way it seems like a waste.
I thought it was well-made and acted, but I did not like it. Despite my disappointment, I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I liked hearing a different perspective.
Least there was something positive you got from it. Yeah I think my perception is few and far between for this one.
Cool movie review
👍
Everything I’ve heard about this movie it sounds like a terrible movie. They were doing something different and it hasn’t worked with the audience. If you give the audience what they want you make a lot of money like Deadpool and Wolverine.
@@jasontheoldmillennial7197 Yeah I can see that with the numbers for sure
I don’t care what the haters say, I loved it. Best movie of 2024.
@@HazeyCazeyTv Hell yeah 👏
