I watched this 3 years ago and thought that is a pretty good idea I brought a USDS100 in australia programmed it this year was the wost flood in history I turned on the scanner and listened very helpful in those bad times but i knew what was going on around my area thanks so much for doing this video
Thanks for the video Sir. I just purchased the TRX . I already have a Uniden BCD 436 HP and an SDS 100 as well as older scanners. Me and you are opposites when it comes to the things we listen to on the scanner. Though I do have my scanners programmed with All New York City Police Precincts and Fire and EMS, they make up only about 1 percent of what I listen to on the scanner. I almost never listen to Police or Fire or EMS. I got tired of that back in the 90s. It is not like you get a play by play of what is happening. Most of what I listen to includes Hospitals, Colleges, my Coop Public Safety, Malls, Stores, (Target, Best Buy, Petsmart, Kohls) Other public safety (not police), rail roads, Air, commercial radios, to name a few. You'd be surprised at what you will hear from these other types of transmissions. I do admit most people buy scanners to listen to Police and Fire and EMS. But there is so much more to listen to out there. And if I lived in s small town I would probably be more interested in listening to the local Police and Fire and EMS. But living in New York City is scanner overload. Looking forward to using the TRX-1. All the best to you!
"back in the 90s" ahhh the good old days when people used wireless phone and we could hear their entire conversation. Scary how people didn't realize how insecure they were
Thank you sir for the information on this system! Very informative! I was in the military and you are right about the communications guy be one of the most important guys!
@juanpaulr The issue was simulcast distortion. I've had the Uniden SDS100 for a few years now and I no longer have that issue. The SDS was designed specifically for that problem.
Comms are vital. I recall while serving, if the comms guy started relaying a transmission, even the captain of the ship went silent. A sound investment you made there brother, like you say, save your money and spend it wisely, 600 on a versatile communications item will last longer and serve you better than a big night on the tiles!
Yes, I agree. Without a good system of Comms many will be in the dark when SHTF. I am glad I am moving in the right direction. Hope all is well Brother.
Luckily he is monitoring a system with only one single broadcast site. Mecklenburg County is big but Pineville PD is small, they have their own system with only 2 talkgroups and they have only one transmission tower even though its a P25 digital trunked system. The problem comes with larger P25 multi site trunked systems with many towers spread across the city or county broadcasting on the same frequency at the same time for coverage. Thats the issue im facing. Im in a larger city (Greensboro) within a slightly larger county (Guilford) and the system that is used up here is shared by about 15 different agencies with hundreds of talkgroups and about 10 broadcast towers located throughout the city and county. These scanners werent really designed to deal with that issue. Thats why the radios used on those systems by public safety (EMS, POLICE, FIRE) cost several thousand dollars a piece vs a few hundred bucks for a scanner. At the time of this video the TRX-1 and the BCD436HP were about the best handheld scanners on the market. Whistler hasnt come out with anything after the TRX but Uniden has. As long as it works for your area is what matters. Keeps your eyes and ears open, always.
I know this reply is 4 years later but I feel the same way. I've used cb for years in my house and van. I started using ham 70cm and 2 m. Now I've got 10m and 12m and 220. I'm currently looking for a good scanner. I'm in Tennessee where it's all dmr phase 2 trunked. Was just about to hit buy now on the Uniden 101 or whatever the top hand held is but at the last moment I saw this scanner and I can get it for $400 now. After having it for 4 years how is it ? Any issues? I want to hear as much as I can so I'm probably going to use the zip code setting and listen to it all. Thank you for your video. And yes your right, this country/world is in trouble (at least the average guy) the rich and poor are not in immediate danger.
Ordered mine through Zipscanners.com with the upgraded Antenna and programming for my area it should come May 2nd (2020) Really looking forward to it as my old Uniden BC95XLT can not pick up my area anymore due to they went to digital. Great review on this! thank you!!! Currently stuck in The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts!! Hopefully for not much longer!!! God Bless you and your Family, WWG1WGA
Thanks for watching Al.. I am still learning as I go, but when I can afford good quality gear I like to purchase it and learn how it operates. I really like this scanner and it really works well. Take care.
I just ordered one from Walmart (1-9-2021) for $399.99. I would prefer the Uniden SDS100, but for $300 less and DMR and NXDN already available, I had to jump on it.
I had a Pro-668 (same interface as the TRX1) but I just got rid of it because I got tired of the P25 simulcast distortion issues here in Guilford County. Half of the digital transmission come in garbled. Uniden came out with the SDS100 which is the only scanner on the market to address the simulcast issue and Whistler was supposed to come out with the TRX100 to do the same but they just announced that they discontinued efforts. So Uniden stands alone right now with the SDS100 and 200. For now i just use an SDR receiver on the pc with different digital decoding software to hear whats going on up here, few 2 way radios, GMRS and Ham radios and a bunch of attic antennas keep me in the loop until i decide on another handheld scanner.
Garbled can also be encrypted. I programmed my whistlers with the Butel software and radio reference. The data will show if the organization is encrypted. I tested it and the encrypted was garbled or silent.
Our emergency services went digital around 5 years ago and I can no longer pick up comms on my old uniden bearcat scanner. Just wondering if one of these will work with their new digital comms network? Any help would be very much appreciated. Regards Mike New Zealand
Great video . I ordered it. Had police helicopter circling nearby home about a hour ago and saw at least 10 cop cars go by with lights and no sirens. I want to know what went on. Not a normal thing where I live but if it happens I want to know what’s going on.
I live in Mecklenburg (Charlotte), was raised in Union and my business partner (HVAC) lives in Lancaster county (Indian Land).. didn't know we were "neighbors" until I heard you mention your counties.. I also have a van.. lol 😂 ..just bought a Whistler 1040 and was searching for tips/reviews.. I had a Radio Shack "race scanner' years ago.. I liked monitoring but it broke and haven't upgraded til now.. I am a modest prepper and share your reasons for communication monitoring.. liked and subscribed.. thanks for posting the vid and I will be brushing up on my new scanner.
I am in Scotland and I have a AOR AR8200 Scanner and I can't hear the police anymore as they have went digital, is there anyway a new digital scanner could monitor them and if so, which one should I buy.
how does the company know what frequencies to program? I'm trying to get into scanning and general radio stuff as a hobby, any insight would be appreciated.
Nice scanners I like the digital side of it can decode slot and color code for dmr and other digital modes u can get better anntennas so it will pull in loads more thinking about buying a scanner need see what's around without messing on to much with other radio happy scanning
lol...bummer. Glad you are persistent. Thanks for the share. It's 12/2020 and I'm settling in on this one too. Being fully programable, it should be viable for a long time.
The other night, I loaded up a Crockpot with chicken thighs, veggies, broth, etc... Woke up the next morning and realized I had forgotten to turn it on. FACEPALM
dont know how old you both are, prob similar age, i will be 53 next month. i forget things all the time now. short term memory has went to hell in a hand basket. about charging the batteries in the scanner. many advise against it. if they explode, and they can, it will ruin the scanner. i would get a separate charger. i am sure other scanner people will tell you this. i am also a ham. n5xtc
i own the uniden scanner, the 436 and the 536 and a BUNCH of others. there are + and - to each of these brands. uniden updates are free for software as are the scanning files from locations. they charge to upgrade things like DMR and NXDN etc. they have two new scanners out, sds100 and sds 200.
Three years later and the bs is getting worse. Great video. Defending 2A everyday!! Love my TRX-1, hopefully Whistler will continue to support software upgrades!
Good info. You helped me decide on this unit. It’s compatible with the MARRS system for the Greater Kansas City Area. (Radioreference is a great resource to see what is needed). Thanks for taking the time to do this. 👍. PS: one dumb question: does this unit work ok in a car??
Hi Anthony, if you have questions, or just want to talk to other people that use the TRX-1 (or TRX-2), Yahoo Groups does have a Group for this radio, (you don't need a Yahoo account to join) and there is a Facebook Group for this radio too, so you may find some interesting people to talk to, if that's what you'd like to do. Just an FYI, I've been told by Whistler, to not use the internal charger, as it takes a very long time to charge, and it's not too good for the radio either. I use the Panasonic Eneloop Pro High Capacity Rechargeable batteries and Charger. 8 Batteries will keep you ready, but I bought the 8 Pack and the charger that came with 4 batteries, just to have some extras. This is the most cost effective way to power your radio. Thanks for the Video! ... Joe
Thanks for the info Joe! I will look for the Facebook group and join. I use the Eneloop batteries as well and have a very good re-charging set-up as well. I want to learn more about this scanner. Take care.
Six friends and I, emailed ZipScanners, all with different wants, and we were all steered to the TRX-1 Scanner. Apparently, they make more money from Whistler than from Uniden! Strange, we all had different reasons to scan, but were steered to the most expensive radio. They also sent follow up emails to each of us. All for a simple Zip Code scanner! Also, once it's programmed, it is no longer returnable, so if you buy there, you're locked in to their sale! You should've went to Universal Radio or a similar shop!
The price dropped to $485 on Amazon, so I picked one up too. It takes like 3 minutes to load your County or City in it, it was actually too easy, and kinda takes the fun out of it, but it does work well, and it takes 4 AA's, rather than the Uniden that runs on 3 AA's, so it must be last longer per set. I bought 12 Eneloop Pro, and their Rapid Charger. The Batteries are like 2500mah, so they are well worth the money. Hey, I enjoy your videos!
Angela - the Whistler scanners can be custom programmed by the user. Zipcode just makes this easier for new users. the Whistler is the BEST VALUE in my opinion. UNIDEN charges for upgrades , even though the scanner can receive digital Modes.
I just bought a Phase 1 system scanner to replace my old GRE-500 which lasted about 10+ years. Zip did a great job with online purchase, WS1040. I already have the BCD436HP with Pro Voice, DMR MotoTrbo, and NXDN. Its nice to do business with smaller companies when I can.
Hi......nice review and thoughts about monitoring. I am a ham myself (W1AV) but not active much these days. I used to be heavily into scanning way back in the 80's. There was quite a bit to listen to. Unfortunately alot of agencies use encrypted transmissions. I live in Rhode Island. The Providence Police dept. used to have about 6 channels and there was a decent amount of activity. But they went to encryption many years ago. And some agencies went to 800mhz trunking systems. I have an old Realistic 30 channel scanner, a desktop one that I dug outta the closet to listen to at my computer desk. I programmed a few vhf/uhf ham repeaters in it. Then I looked through the Radio Reference scanner website and got some freqs. for Railroad, National Grid, TF Green state airport fire company, a few news media UHF freqs.......but still not a ton of activity. I would like to buy a new radio but having been out of the hobby for so long, I am overwhelmed. My wife would throw me out if I spend $600 for a radio!!!! However I was going to talk to her about getting back into the Ham Radio hobby. I mostly prefer to listen to aircraft and fire/rescue.
Thanks for watching and for your comments. My ham call sign is KK4KDO. I just moved, so am in the process of setting up my gear in the new house. I hope to get back into the hobby a lot more in the New Year. I get a good amount of activity as I drive around with this scanner in North and South Carolina. I am happy with the purchase, although it is kind of steep. In the event of emergencies I like to be able to hear whatever I can. Prepping is expensive but it pays to be ready. I hope you get back into the hobby and maybe one day we can make contact. 73's. Anthony.
Man I’ve been a scanner for over 20 years now. It’s gotten more difficult (and expensive) in recent years, so I’ve resorted to using broadcastify on my phone. It’s not bad, but it’s on a bit of a delay, and if the site (or internet) goes down, I’m out of the game. Without getting too far into it, I live in a “sanctuary city.” I think you know the rest. It seems like as soon as I spent >$500 on my last scanner, the PD and fire switched to a new technology. Oh well, I guess I gotta go buy a new scanner. Hey good video btw. Stay safe
Jerry G - scanners are changing fast, today scanner are using SDR technology to receive in Dense Urban enviroments and to Demodulate Simulcast better. the NEW Whistler TRX-100 handheld and 200 home/mobile scanners will ship in Q4 2018 and the more Expensive Uniden SDS100 is available now. you can also buy the ICOM R30 and AOR DV-10 which are both SDR receivers and they offer Built in GPS and Bluetooth.
Like your channel. I though driving around with a scanner is illegal. Or is that based on a state by state system. Can u also pick up military channels also.
I still have outdated Radio Shack scanners i.e. Pr0 2006. Pro 83, Pro 404. Pro 106. I use a Home Patrol 1. The Radio Shack radikos all work. The way they are adding bands such as Motorola P25 bands 1 and 2 I am running into obsolesence.
JEFF - the Whistler is the BETTER VALUE as it receives everything out of the BOX, with UNIDEN you have to pay extra to receive modes that it can receive, also of note - but not a deal breaker is the Whistler does not do Digital Trunktracking. Only Uniden will , one Solution is to get the ICOM R30 its an Advanced SDR scanner like the Uniden but it includes ALL the mode for FREE. and the ICOM has Built in GPS and Bluetooth.
CopperWhooper67 - It can Trunktrack the Latest systems like TETRA, NXDN, DMR Tier III and others, I think the Last System that the TRX1 can Trunktrack is P25, but that's it. it can however still Tune and Decode NXDN and DMR but it cannot Trunktrack those systems.
Hello friend, you will have some mail to communicate is that I have a radio whistler 1088 but I do not understand much, since the P25 digital signals jump and I only listen to different transmissions, from the menu search help me friend please.
OoOoOoH BOY..... "Take 4", well thankfully it wasn't more , but I'm sure TAKE 1,2,&3 Hadn't been all that good or not as good as this one. But best of luck in the future on filming later & it not taking 10 takes trying to put out future vids .
Nice, I wish my police radio was as small as your scanner it would help with cutting down weight on my belt. I bet you heard a lot of DV in progress or Heroin overdose it's been an increase up here in northwest Ohio for the last 4 years
the NEW ICOM P25 and iDAS Radios are compact and have lots of features, excellent for Police use. the Comms are secure with a Built in Digital Voice Scrambler and they are IP repeater compatable. the ICOM radios have Clear Audio thanks to the Built in Power Mic and Active Noise Cancelation.
@@biblesnbarbells Hello, I went with TRX-1. Now I am exploring Software Defined radios.... Any thoughts on SDR yet? Again, Thank You so much for all these posts!!!!!
biblesnbarbells , I agree . It seems like they scramble the channel when they don't want you to hear something that is going on . For example after I hear a series of gun shots .
Hey Anthony I thought of you the other day. I was going down the highway here in western New York and I passed an unmarked sprinter. It looked like it had been tricked out a bit. There was a solar panel mounted on the roof but more interesting to me was a small cylindrical turbine shaped fan mounted aft. At first I thought it was some kind of vent, but then it occurred to me that it might be a tiny wind turbine. It was about 8" tall, spinning at a good clip at highway speeds. Ever hear about anything like this?
Good to hear from you. It sounds like it was one of those weather chaser vehicles. I have not seen any wind turbines for vehicles, but I am sure they exist. Hope all is well.
The people using the scanner phone apps have to realize that when in storms, cel phone towers/signals go down. Wifi's go down. But these scanners listen to the reliable live emergency towers even when power goes out for days, iphone apps are so unreliable that even the feeds are often offline by provider. There is nothing out that can compare with the reliability of scanning equipment like this scanner that can scan airwave frequencies for miles all around the state with a good base antenna. Public works, emergency agencies, taxis, buses, trucks, highway communications, cities, airplanes, helicopters, security services, special ops teams and base dispatchers, the list is endless, cel phones (for those who know the legal limits of mods) hospitals, restaurants, mcd's drive thru communications, baby monitors, alarm frequencies, television frequencies...my point is a cheap limited phone scanner app has nothing on these real frequency scanners.
Hey mate, you're not having much luck making videos. First you forgot to hit the video record button, then you turn around at the start of your video and in doing so, somehow your microphone is dislodged, and your sound got all fucked up. Mate, whatever you do, don't walk under a ladder. Fuck me, you are careless! But good onya, buddy for having a go. Hang-on, your sound came back to normal... I think your luck is changing buddy.
I am not law enforcement. Have had the channel since 2009. I focus on Prepping/Survival, Workout/Fitness and Bible study/Current events. Thanks for stopping by.
Uniden BCD436HP dos have free up dates fir data base and firm ware but if you need clrear voice than you have to pay.I got tge bcd436hp because it was only 300$ for me looked likele a deal.I do love whisler to.
Here in the state of New York, it's ILLEGAL to have a scanner in a motor vehicle, unless you have a permit. And usually that requires being sponsored by, or are a member of a law enforcement agency, fire department, EMS, etc. etc. It sucks for scanner enthusiasts… But it is what it is.
Steve Giovanis I’m STILL torn between this and the Uniden. I have a mix of DMR, P2 and 800Mhz in my area so I really need to upgrade and consolidate the multiple radios I’m currently carrying. Standard batteries are important for me so the STS100 is a dealbreaker. All that said... do you still have buyers remorse? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Are you able to listen to encrypted channels. I used to be able to listen to the police dispatch channel where I live but recently they upgraded their system and it is no longer on broadcastify. where do I find the information on how to program these scanners. I've seen ads for companies that will program the scanner for you but they must have gotten the information from somewhere.
The way you taped that map of the USA to the wall is discraceful. I biught the trx-1 i wish i woukd have bought the home patrol by uniden , whike its not as portable , u can touch anyone of thr 3 that pops up in the window and hold. I still cant figure out of the trx does that. Way to complex unless you are an expert. Pluse the firmware is garbage. Always getting error codes. Customer service is great but way too complex
If you had bought the uniden you would have had to purchase licenses for DMR, P-25, TURBO, and NXDN for about $70 a pop……. We sell these whistlers, my wife has hers rolling as I type this, the whistler is far superior.
First thing you need to do, is throw away that Dummy Load for an Antenna, get the Radio Shack 800MHz antenna or a HAM radio HT antenna, it will improve your reception.
you were Duped by Zip Scanners. the Whistler can use a FREE online database with all frequencies you are interested in. You can program the Whistler yourself and Better than Zip Scanners can.
American scanners are junk. Both Uniden and Whistler have gaps in Coverage on their scanners, whereas the ICOM R30 has ZERO gaps in coverage from 0.10 MHZ - 3305 MHZ * except for cellular, and the AOR DV-10 has ZERO gaps from 100KHz to 1.3 GHz * except for cellular. also American scanner like Uniden disable demodulation modes, so even though the scanner is capable of reception of certain modes, you have to PAY extra to listen to them. Whistler is the Better value in my opinion, as all modes are included for FREE and they frequently upgrades for FREE when a NEW mode gets released. Both the ICOM and AOR scanners demodulate more modes and receive more, they also have Built in GPS and Bluetooth. the ICOM R30 has Dual Receive - two frequency at a time and has Dual Recording - can record two conversations at a time. the AOR has three VFO, you can monitor two frequency at a time and the third VFO you can fine tune the frequency , even though the frequency is pre programmed. the GPS is more useful in the ICOM and AOR scanners as they can detect any Towers or Locations you programmed in wethin 100 Miles. the ICOM R-30 is Similar priced to the Uniden and Whistler scanners , while the AOR is the ABSOULTLY the GOLD standard and is the BEST Receiver on the Market.
Thanks for the info Mark. I am going to start looking into the ICOM and the AOR Scanners. They sound like they are high quality pieces of gear and worth the money.
timtomnec - other than Analog Cellular all my COMMUNICATIONS receivers have unrestricted bandwidth. I own some PRE Ban radios and some more modern ones. they are pretty much the same in that they offer unrestricted coverage from HF to 800 MHz (cell locked out) and a small portion of the 800mhz public safety is INCLUDED, but 900 Mhz (cell locked)all the way to 1.3GHz or 5.0 GHz . other than that there is NOTHING my handheld and home Communications receivers cant tune. but Scanner makers are ABSOULTLY lazy for not including the MISSING specrtums. as there are NONE sensitive or Restriced services there. the Scanner makers also don't INCLUDE analog demodulation modes, like CW, NFM, and SSB. they also do NOT receive all the Amatuer Radio Digital modes. However modern Receivers like the ICOM and AOR receive more modes. and have useful Built in Bandpass Filtering and DSP noise reduction. SCANNER makers are just plain LASY. and make Radios NOT WORTH THE PRICE. my $599 ICOM R30 receives more spectrum and has Unique features NOT found on Scanners.
I once worked in a TV station and directed a talk show. After a tear jerking interview of a woman who's son was killed by a hit-and-run driver we found out no one pushed the record. Had to do it all over again. You do know which "tribe" is causing all the mayhem don't you?
I purchased this radio and i am not at all impressed. Some of the things i do not like at all with this radio. Monochrome screen rechargeable batteries not included Sucks down alkaline batteries Battery level display looks backwards. when the battery is full it looks like its reading empty and when its low it looks full. BNC antenna connector is not as good as SMA or TNC. My radio is almost new I have barely used it but the antenna connector inside the radio is already loose. the down button on the keyboard is getting stuck down. Software in the radio and on the PC are not at all intuitive and I have used scanners and programmed radios for many years. If you try and add too many channels to scan then it will take forever for the channels to load from memory to the operating system of the radio to start scanning and you cant back out without removing the batteries. It is terrible at decoding P25 multicast for NW ohio. I got Unication G5 and it picks up NW Ohio great but the TRX-1 can barely pick up any broadcasts. The P25 that this radio will pick up the audio quality is way worse than my G5 It would be way better if the knob on the top was volume and not the up and down buttons. Especially now that mine sticks. This is an expensive radio and I expected way more from it. Tomorrow I should be getting in the uniden sds-100 so i will see how that goes
I watched this 3 years ago and thought that is a pretty good idea I brought a USDS100 in australia programmed it this year was the wost flood in history I turned on the scanner and listened very helpful in those bad times but i knew what was going on around my area thanks so much for doing this video
at minute 10 what you talked about is the reason why i bought mine and because of people like you is that we learn good things from good knowledge

Thanks for watching my friend and for your service. Anthony.
Great info And Yes Things are getting Crazy out there And We need to be Prepared and Informed...
Thanks for your comments.
Thank you. Excellent video with crucial information. Recently purchased one of these for exactly the reasons presented.
Thanks for watching. Glad this video helped.
@juanpaulr The issue was simulcast distortion. I've had the Uniden SDS100 for a few years now and I no longer have that issue. The SDS was designed specifically for that problem.
Point well made... a police scanner saved my butt one time. Im in the process of upgrading my police scanners.
Thanks for watching.
Good review, and in a kind of younger Robert Duvall demeanor.😎
Thanks for watching. Yes, I have heard that before.
Comms are vital. I recall while serving, if the comms guy started relaying a transmission, even the captain of the ship went silent.

You were correct in 2017 and even more now .

Great video. Couldnt agree more with your thoughts. Stay safe.
I also have a van.. lol 😂
..just bought a Whistler 1040 and was searching for tips/reviews..
No, all UK police are encrypted, there's nothing out there which will receive and decode these.
@@steves7973 was the main reason for them going over to the encrypted system due to people with scanners.
how does the company know what frequencies to program? I'm trying to get into scanning and general radio stuff as a hobby, any insight would be appreciated.
Nice scanners I like the digital side of it can decode slot and color code for dmr and other digital modes u can get better anntennas so it will pull in loads more thinking about buying a scanner need see what's around without messing on to much with other radio happy scanning
May God bless the Republic!
Amem. Thanks for watching.
lol...bummer.
FACEPALM
That is funny. Sounds like me!
dont know how old you both are, prob similar age, i will be 53 next month. i forget things all the time now. short term memory has went to hell in a hand basket. about charging the batteries in the scanner. many advise against it. if they explode, and they can, it will ruin the scanner. i would get a separate charger. i am sure other scanner people will tell you this. i am also a ham. n5xtc
i own the uniden scanner, the 436 and the 536 and a BUNCH of others. there are + and - to each of these brands. uniden updates are free for software as are the scanning files from locations. they charge to upgrade things like DMR and NXDN etc. they have two new scanners out, sds100 and sds 200.
Stop telling lies lad
@@billybarr7443 🤡
Three years later and the bs is getting worse. Great video. Defending 2A everyday!! Love my TRX-1, hopefully Whistler will continue to support software upgrades!
Hi! nice radio! - which Uniden did you compare to? - we dont have this brand here in sweden, but Uniden is easy to get, blessings, bro Levi in sweden
Good info. You helped me decide on this unit. It’s compatible with the MARRS system for the Greater Kansas City Area. (Radioreference is a great resource to see what is needed). Thanks for taking the time to do this. 👍. PS: one dumb question: does this unit work ok in a car??
Is it true most pd, fire, etc has a 5 minute delay?
good review mate, busy researching this radio & your channel, you just got another subscriber, best wishes from the UK
Thank you for subscribing! It is a good radio and I am still learning how to use it to the fullest potential. Take care.
I like the sounding of it tanks
Is that getting digital frequency or is that taking the decrypted freequency
that thing is sweet, i want one
Thanks for the info. I still would have purchased this scanner as it is very well made and functions the way I want it.
Does the trx-1 able to trunk dmr?
Nice review, thanks for that.
Thanks for your comments. THis is my first major scanner.
Hi Dear
When Police PD use digital rádios, is It possible to reach n hear their tx?
Regards.
Daniel Mello depends if its encrypted or not. But yes, these decode digital traffic.
@@ertonyrn thanks! 👌
73's. Anthony.
Sounds good for that little rubber duck antenna. The Wilson antennas I used on C.b. Were very good.
It does sound very good.
You kinda look like Christopher Meloni from Law & Order:SVU.
@joe...yep :) Thought the same thing!
Joe R I’d say Woody Harrelson..
Stay safe
Thanks for your comments.
Thanks for watching. Check local laws. I use mine from home as well. I have not heard any military channels yet.
Thanks for your comments.
Will it scan besides US and Canada? Like say India?
Do you know if yours is better than the Uniden sds100?
I am not sure. Not familiar with that model.
Mark Plott thanks Mark. I appreciate that. I will definitely look into that scanner.
Mark Plott, I think you're mistaken as the TRX-1 can in fact trunktrack digital systems.
Does it go to the 800mhz range
I ended up getting the Yaesu VX-6R and trying to use it as a scanner. Probably not nearly as good but wanted the ham option.
Nice. Let me know how it works for you.
get the ICOM R30 - it covers HF through 3.4 Ghz !!!!!! and has Built in GPS and Bluetooth.
Hey Anthony can you Manually program with spending the money to get it programed
Anthony Saggio yes. Similar to previous radioshack/gre programming.
What device gives you info on a International level?
An HF Ham Radio with good antenna.
biblesnbarbells thanks for good information
Take it ez
bong donkey - ICOM IC- R30 hand held receiver $599.
I bet you heard a lot of DV in progress or Heroin overdose it's been an increase up here in northwest Ohio for the last 4 years
Good to hear from you. I really like this scanner and it has been working fantastic in my area.
the NEW ICOM P25 and iDAS Radios are compact and have lots of features, excellent for Police use. the Comms are secure with a Built in Digital Voice Scrambler and they are IP repeater compatable. the ICOM radios have Clear Audio thanks to the Built in Power Mic and Active Noise Cancelation.
Thanks for the posting. I am also on the fence between TRX-1 & a few others
Thanks for watching. Let me know which one you end up with.
@@biblesnbarbells Hello, I went with TRX-1. Now I am exploring Software Defined radios.... Any thoughts on SDR yet? Again, Thank You so much for all these posts!!!!!
That is very cool . I have an scanner app on my I pad that allows me to pick which state and county I want to listen to.
what app is that?
I like having a dedicated scanner, because I do not trust the app.
It is a Police scanner app . It says Police Scanner .
biblesnbarbells , I agree . It seems like they scramble the channel when they don't want you to hear something that is going on . For example after I hear a series of gun shots .
West Texas Prepper It just says Police Scanner . I think there are many types though .
That's brilliant 😂👍
Thanks for watching.
Regarding the batteries, you said it has rechargeable but does it also accept regular batteries such as alkaline?
It can use alkaline batteries but a set of batteries will not last a day
What company made them?
I wish I can get the trx1 scanner so bad so can pickup mta police 700mhz
Ah, just a prelude to "senior moments" yet to come Anthony, no worries (grin).
I agree Cheryl..Lol.
Great thoughts, sadly our government is not serving us, but someone else.
THanks for watching. I think you are correct.
Not the greatest presentation i have seen but still a thumbs up.
Will it pick up 'trunked' systems?
I do not think so.
Yes it does
Hey mate, you're not having much luck making videos.
Bibles,Are you law enforcement?I am new to your channel. You come across that way.lol!Good content! Thanks!
I am not law enforcement. Have had the channel since 2009. I focus on Prepping/Survival, Workout/Fitness and Bible study/Current events. Thanks for stopping by.
I want to buy one so bad.. Lol.. Apple of the scanner world..
Hey zenith royal 94 my old radio kool.
Uniden BCD436HP dos have free up dates fir data base and firm ware but if you need clrear voice than you have to pay.I got tge bcd436hp because it was only 300$ for me looked likele a deal.I do love whisler to.
Thanks for your comments!
We need to fight Encryption. Making these expensive devices useless. We need transparency.
It's illegal if it's capable of receiving "police" frequencies.
New York is like the Russia. Crazy.
biblesnbarbells
Man oh man...You ain't kidding!! I'm a correction officer. Believe me when I tell you… WE despise our Governor more than ANYBODY!!
they did have video of the guy at the casino
Just bought the same scanner from zipscanners.
Congrats! Thanks for your comments.
You need to start your own scanner business
i use 2 sdr dongles into a pc- encrypted traffic and all!
Do you have buyers remorse? I sure do!
I have not tried yet. I need to look into this and do my own programming.
No one can listen to encrypted. Its point less to have a scanner now
The way you taped that map of the USA to the wall is discraceful.
Does this work in the UK?
I am not sure. You can contact Whistler direct.
i have the TRX-2 works well in the UK got mine from MOONRAKER UK
Grambo Smiffy - Frequency coverage is Different in the UK than in Canada and USA. best to buy a Scanner in the Region you Live rather than importing.
If you had bought the uniden you would have had to purchase licenses for DMR, P-25, TURBO, and NXDN for about $70 a pop……. We sell these whistlers, my wife has hers rolling as I type this, the whistler is far superior.
Take 5 or 6 or 7 like check your sound .
First thing you need to do, is throw away that Dummy Load for an Antenna, get the Radio Shack 800MHz antenna or a HAM radio HT antenna, it will improve your reception.
Thanks Mark! I have a better antenna one that I use for my ham radios. Reception is much better.
Can't Beat Radio Shack Scanners, they Always Work as Designed....
Are they still made?
RS scanner are GRE, but Whistler bought GRE. RS pro-688 is great Digital/ Analogue Scanner.
biblesnbarbells - no, RS is out of business, however Whistler now makes Scanner based on RS.
really? hmmm......
Mine took a crap.. the power port stopped working.. upgraded to a Whistler
I just order mine already for saint.paul fire... in minneapolis fire thats 55104....55418
Thanks for watching. You will love the TRX-1. High quality piece of gear. Take care.
How's it working out for you?
you were Duped by Zip Scanners. the Whistler can use a FREE online database with all frequencies you are interested in. You can program the Whistler yourself and Better than Zip Scanners can.
I will need to spend some time looking into this. I know it can be programmed. Thanks for the info.
Sorry, the SDS100 is definitely superior.
You shouldnt have payed i would have programmed that scanner myself saved all that money
No police on scanner s UK lol
I’m in the UK and looking to buy a scanner, is it worth it? Does it work in the UK?
could not watch video full of adds
Cellular doesn't matter..it's digital..
May want to read some laws for the US, there is a reason for the freq gaps.
timtomnec - other than Analog Cellular all my COMMUNICATIONS receivers have unrestricted bandwidth.
@@markplott4820 ohh so you own it there for the law dose not apply, sorry my bad.
Monochrome screen
rechargeable batteries not included
Sucks down alkaline batteries
Battery level display looks backwards. when the battery is full it looks like its reading empty and when its low it looks full.
BNC antenna connector is not as good as SMA or TNC.
My radio is almost new I have barely used it but the antenna connector inside the radio is
already loose. the down button on the keyboard is getting stuck down.
The P25 that this radio will pick up the audio quality is way worse than my G5
It would be way better if the knob on the top was volume and not the up and down buttons. Especially now that mine sticks.
This is an expensive radio and I expected way more from it.
Tomorrow I should be getting in the uniden sds-100 so i will see how that goes
Thanks for the info Caleb. I have not used this scanner as much as i need to. DId you get the Uniden sds-100 yet?
too easy to program on your own to have to pay someone
You are right Steve. I was new and was not sure, so I had them do some programming for me.
You lost me at "I went out to get a pizza"
I am always going to get pizza. Lol.
@van...That's when I decided to listen :)
