Humba is a classic Filipino dish that’s closely related to everyone’s favorite adobo but made a tad bit sweeter. It’s also almost like a paksiw na pata, especially as some versions actually use pork hocks. There are multiple versions of humba all over the Philippines, especially in Visayas and Mindanao. Chef Tatung shares his own simple version that you can easily recreate at home. Try it today. Let’s start cooking #SimpolPorkHumba!
INGREDIENTS
1 kilo pork belly
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
3 bay leaves
4 pieces star anise
1 teaspoon whole peppercorn
1 white onion
3 cloves garlic
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon salted black beans
3 tablespoons banana ketchup
1 hard-boiled egg

Sobrang salamat sa mga simpol recipes mo.. my mom is an amazing cook kaya i’ve never been too confident in the kitchen but now that we are on lockdown, i had to find other filipino recipes to cook other than the usual adobo-tinola-afritada! I just tried this humba! I also tried the max fried chicken twice already! Tenkyu talaga!!!! Sinpol!!!

Hindi ah. Cebuano ako at taga luto din. Hindi common ang ketchup. Ang nilalagay is brown sugar. Ang kulay nakuha sa pag deep fry sa sariing taba nya hangat ma crispy. Tapos saka na cya i braise at timplahan na may kasamang brown sugar kaya matamis at kaya dark

Nice one Chef. Daghan kaayo version ang humba depende kung asa nga lugar. Yung iba gumagamit ng hinog na saba. May ilan din gumagamit ng gabi. Ung iba may banana blossom din. May iba din gumagamit ng pineapple. Pili k nlng kung alin ang bet mo. hahahaha

Ang humba sa Samar ay walang toyo. Ang nagpapa dark ay black beans, medyo marami ang suka. At may flower ng saging.
