I was over Chicken Rock 4 years ago and it was in MUCH better shape than in this video. But I've also done it way back over 20 years ago when it had never been improved. That was a lot of fun in a full size Blazer. I feel this guys pain.
We were up there the weekend on Oct 20, 2017 and read the notice that the friends of Briggs were coming up the 22nd. I like what they did to the cabin and the bridge looks totally different. Glad to see the trail open again. Great video!
james cleveland Barker is on NPS land. Imagine the headache that would be dealing with them? That would be super cool if it did get rebuilt. Maybe we should start a group....Friends of Manson....lol
Agree...Manson is a scumbag...kind of goes without saying....Thats what makes "friends of Manson" funny. Its like wearing a peace button and writing "born to kill" on your helmet. I was suggesting the Jungian of man.
Doing some Intel on trail, trail to the Harry Briggs cabin - do you need to hit chicken rock? Will be checking out the cabins with 2 other rigs, one is a novice. I couldn't tell where chicken rock was. Thx
No we made it all the way. And yes some of those trails are ball busters. People have went over Chicken Rock. It's not pretty. Lot's of experience, a good 4X4, and a spotter. Good luck!
Yes, billions of years have passed through this area with almost no rain and only wind and frost upheavals to affect change. You'll be passing through granite and suddenly change to talc. Dolamite, slate, Quartz, volcanism, silver, and of course gold which will never be mined because DV is a national park now. As good as it gets.

This one of my favorite chicken rock videos. You did it barely in a blazer with all season tires. So close!
Glad you liked it!
Crazy roads, awesome historical scenes, beautiful landscapes.. Thanks for taking us with you!
Right on all accounts. Thanks for looking.
Wow, excellent, what a journey, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nicely done, man, I love the pacing and feel of the whole thing. Your music was just the right touch.
Road thanks so much.. this canyon is priceless. Completely inspiring experience.

I think we were the first vehicle over the new bridge.
More like "Friends of Barker's Ranch'. Manson was a scumbag.

No, Briggs is before Chicken Rock. You could walk up to C.R. (1/2 mile maybe)and decide how much talent you need.
@@jamescleveland thanks! Much appreciated.
Wow thats some rocky road, nice to see dwellings Not all trashed up. thanks james & your friend in the blazer ,
Yea, those cabins have survived the years. A 'Friends Of Briggs' group takes care of these places. hats off to them.
Some of those roads were rough where there some you could not make it through ?

Nice video! Those cliff side roads are insane!
I've made some crazy decisions just to get to amazing places with amazing geology, but that would've stopped me cold..
A rough program indeed.
james cleveland The geology you passed through was astonishing.. the Noonday Dolomite looked relatively pristine..

Hi James, Nice to see you again. I really enjoyed the video and your music. I hope
to see more soon, Merry Christmas, Ody Slim
I have some stockpiled. Thanks again.
The Blazer did good with the street tires. I am impressed. I had a 1972 Blazer and
loved it. Thanks again
They are street and trail Goodyears with Kevlar belts. Thread is pretty aggressive, but not knobby 36's. I have new respect for the Tahoe now.
Nice video, love your own guitar music.😀
Thanks again Elf, I wanted to do Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" but balked...
Very grateful for your viewing.
