Was wondering if you were considering dissecting pairs of modern Military boots? They're not cheap and many people rely on them for daily wear so it'd be interesting to see what people are actually getting for their money.

Combat boots are designed for periods of heavy use, say 24/7 for several weeks, and then to be replaced at government expense as needed. Although the boots are supposedly made to military specification the durability varies by manufacturer. The target price for the government must be relatively low, say less than $100, so the quality does not compare to the high priced domestic work boots. One big advantage is that the U.S. military procures boots in a greater range of lengths and widths than typical consumer work boot manufacturers provide. There was a huge amount of government surplus stock left over from the middle east wars but that no longer seems to be the situation.

Just want to put out a white’s boots warning out there for November 2022. I ordered a pair of boots during their Black Friday sale. They charged me. I got an email telling me the boots I ordered were discontinued even though they are advertised on their site. More significantly they said it will take 14 days to get my money back. I’m sure they’re lovely boots. BUT I’ll never know cause I’ll never buy one of their products with that kind of customer service.

Bought my whites moc Toe after the original video and it was my first leather boot. I’m in a warehouse and do about 15 miles of walking per day. I’m on my 3rd sole and the boot is perfect still. I’ve had my pair of Perry’s for about 4 months, and I love them. The included sock liner footbed really helped with the break in period for me, which was virtually no problem. The right side eyelets on my left boot are set about 1/16- 1/8 of an inch off from the left side, making the left boot lace up weird. Happy Moctober everyone!
I bought my pair a few weeks ago after seeing your Moctober Review from last year. Out of the box, they are quite comfy, due to the insole provided; I'd say they are comfier than the pair of Iron Rangers I bought last spring (I don't have an insole on those). Upper has yet to break in, but they are on their way to being molded to by whole foot. I love the red dog leather (very thick and oily), and these brown distressed look great given the wear and tear on them. Looks wise, I prefer White's styling to the Red Wing or Thorogood Moc-toes. I think they embody more of a work-lite feel to them compared to RW or Thorogood, but it’s their entry level boot; they have beefier versions for a higher price.

I bought these about five months ago because I work in a warehouse, and have about 500 miles on them. They almost look new, but the only complaint I have is the counter. It’s rock hard and still makes my heels sore sometimes. I bought them very snug, so that might be why the counter bothers me. My friend at work has been wearing them for the same amount of time and has had no issues. If I had bought a half size larger, I probably wouldn’t have any complaints, just know that the counter makes these unforgiving.

I figured it would be better to start snug and break them in than start too wide and end up with clown shoes. Theyre fine for about 8-9 hours but on those 10-12 hour shifts I really start to feel that hard counter. Hoping it wears in eventually because everything else about this boot is awesome.

1:58 Sorry, but I think you have that exactly wrong. We construction guys that are into nice boots take care of our boots just as much if not more than a poser hipster that's wearing them to pretend like they know how to work with their hands. We are actually using them for their intended purpose and they get extremely dirty, right away. Whereas someone drinking a pour-over coffee while checking emails just doesn't get them dirty like we do. I have 3 pairs of work boots sitting next to me, all getting cleaned, oiled, and waxed with Obenauf's.
Also, my shit-talking toward hipsters is pure jovial sarcasm. The more people that I can talk boots with, the better. Love the channel man, even though you're a hipster😉. I've learned so much from you and this channel. I'm born and raised in Seattle so I didn't know that PNW boots were a specific style native to this area. I just thought that's how all boots were. I also learned that my go-to favorite brand Danner isn't all I thought it was cracked up to be. My last 5 pairs of boots have been from them. 1 8" Quarry with gore-tex lining and Vibram lug sole I think (can you do a review on them? I really loved them, especially when standing in a flooded ditch all day running PVC pipe because I'm a commercial electrician), 3 8" Bullrun wedge soles and 1 6" Bullrun Moc toe wedge sole.

Excellent review. Years ago I was given a pair of Irish Setter moc toe hunting boots by my Dad. They had rhinoceros lowers and kangaroo uppers. The very best boots I ever owned. Unfortunately, I have no idea where they went. I have tried Red Wing, Thorogood, Carhartt, and too many others, only to be disappointed with fit. I tried the Whites Perry MocToe shortly after their introduction, but couldn't quite get the fit right. I intend to give them another try, especially after your reviews. Thank you.

would love to see a series where you went to a bootbarn or whatever the east coast equivalent is and buy some of the 150 dollar range boots to compare. i use a pair of georgia wedge sole boots for work and im pretty happy with them. they have a pretty heavy duty external heal counter and a a bunch of extra heel padding sewn into the inside as well.

I'm looking for new boots and have found your channel very informational. I have settled on White's after your praise of them and they are local to my area. Unfortunately, at this time these boots are no longer sub-300 dollars. I am considering paying a bit more for the Chore Boot which appears more durable.

I just had my first resole on the Perrys and mine are in similar condition. They have been a great boot for the money. While I don't care for Urethane insoles they are acceptable at this price point. The boots are extremely durable with a good measure of comfort. I do have a little shrinking in the toe box but have gotten the boots a lot wetter than I should have on many occasions. They have been better to me than I have been to them. If you are the type of person who can't stand to spend over $300 dollars on boots the Perry might be for you.

Golden Fox has a moc wedge work boot that (at least in 2019) is less than $200 and is made in America. It isn’t as nice as any of my Redwings, but seem to be of similar quality to my Thorogood Dodgevilles. I would love to see them cut in half, but I also bet I know exactly what I would see. I like the boot.

I got these Moc Toe boots and they were NOT WORTH IT. I really liked them but mine got absolutely destroyed. The seem at the top of the toe split like with in the first couple months and you can see the inside liner. The soles lost traction and were sanded smooth at the toe within 3 months. I'm at 7 months in now and the sole is basically at the welt you can see the stitching. I know i should have gotten them resoled but i was waiting for my Nicks to come in. I'm about 205 pounds and work in the automotive industry so i didn't expect them to wear that much, because i didn't think my job was that demanding. I really liked them for a couple months but they went down hill fast. I plan on getting them resoled and the moc toe restitched at my local cobbler.

Might be overthinking it on the outsole swap. They most likely did it because they wanted the Vibram name on their boots to increase sales. Pretty straightforward and pretty common amongst boot brands.

Considering buying these as my first boot, but I’m kind of concerned with the amount of crafting defects that I’ve seen people complain about. Does the company work well to help customers solve these issues? It seems a lot of people have problems with the shank and just overall sloppy loose stitching that isn’t consistent with the other boot.

Repeat request for dissection of a pair of Urban Shepherd boots. Little info on them, solid pricing in the US and very good pricing in Europe. They seem like absolute gems for the price, but without Weston's surgical skills, we can't be sure.

$340 at this point. But everything has gone up either due to need to get materials and pay labor, or unfortunately in a lot of cases, because financial overlords are trading brands and just jacking up the price to increase revenue and flip the brand again before someone turns it into junk and sells it at walmart and prints the brand on tshirts and wallets.

How are you supposed to order a pair of boots that fit you well if you can only see a picture of them online?? I would love to get a pair of these, but I went with a pair of Thorogoods, and I am so damn glad I did because my local shoe store carries them, they fit me amazingly well because I could try different sizes until I found the actual fit for my foot. It seems like guessing what fits me online would've gotten me the wrong size boot. Better materials don't count for much when you can't make sure they fit correctly. How do people deal with this when sizes can easily vary between manufacturers? Seems like a massive disadvantage.

Aside from rotating and drying boots out, what's a good countermeasure against mold that anyone else tried? My moc toe red Wings were a bit greenish under the cedar shoe tree which I now learned to put in a day later after wearing. I've treated them with a self-made spray mixture of 50 drops tea tree essential oil, 50 drops peppermint essential oil, some 96% alcohol and some water. They're definitely minty fresh after some treatments, luckily getting cold feet from the oils has subsided by now. No trace of mold anymore as far as I can tell.

Been looking to add another moc toe and this is at the top of the list with Redwing 1907’s. My Redwing 405’s have been awesome through two resoles (especially considering the price and the sandy SoCal desert I work in) - but I need to get a new pair into the rotation and I really like this boot. I’m actually glad to see the Cristy sole - it’s like a trusted friend. Opinion of the 405 btw?
    Thanks - Great channel. Subscribed.
