2:52 The reason for these types of roads is that they all predate the use of cars and machinery...many of them are originally Roman roads or paths created by shepherds and merchants en route. Over time its infrastructure was improved but the layout was not redesigned, why? Well, because many of these areas do not have enough traffic density to face expensive and invasive infrastructure works... it would be like shooting cannons at flies. That's why they stay like this.
A fact that will interest few, but that is relevant for visitors who are lovers of Geology. Spain is the country in Europe that has the most geological variety. We have very good representation in the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Cenozoic and Quaternary. We have large mountain ranges, deserts, volcanoes, alluvial plains, karst landscapes, immense sandy beaches and dizzying cliffs, islands, islets, caves, waterfalls, glaciers, deltas, estuaries... The catalog is immense. It is a paradise for Geology students, because everything is close. From a didactic point of view it is therefore a unique case in the world.

@@dockingtroll6801 Great Whites could appear rarely in the Mediterranean, and normally only in profound waters. It's also strange to see inoffensive blue sharks near the coast, but that is more possible. Since Mediterranean countries started to register shark incidents, we had 50 attacks and 'only' 11 deaths since 1900 amongst all the Mediterranean. That is 0.4 attacks a year, 0.08 deaths a year. And if you take in consideration that there are 23 countries with Mediterranean coasts, we are talking about 0.017 attacks a year per country, and 0.003 deaths a year per country. I live at 5 km from the Mediterranean, and I can assure you that once every many years, someone takes a picture of a blue shark fin and it makes the front page of every newspaper, because of how rare it is. I'm from Barcelona, but, personally, Asturias is the most beautiful place in Spain (Picos de Europa and Naranjo de Bulnes appeared but there's so much more, impressive mountains, cliffs...). My parents took me there on vacation for the first time when I was 6 months old, and we went almost every year after. In the last 3 years I've gone 5-6 times with my bf, who has also fallen in love with the place. If it weren't for work we'd def move there. It is truly a natural paradise 😍😍
14:28 that's in all of Spain, there's one in Madrid, Toledo and a lot of other cities in Spain, even in little towns you can find some. When festivity comes they put barriers of the streets and houses so bulls follow the path to the bulls ring or "plaza de toros" in spanish
Quite Rural zones of "Castille and Lion" in spring looks like very similar to the Shire of LotR. Green pastures, cultives, hills, flowers, river vegetation...
6:00 Castille is usually considered central Spain, not Northern. It's in the Meseta Central (Inner Plateau). I get what you mean, but no, there's not a higher concentration of older historial sites to the north as far as I know. One of the cities that he mentioned in the north, Zaragoza, was a Roman city (Cesaraugusta) founded in the site of an Iberian town, and it was later under moorish control (Saraqusta). The same happened in the south, more or less. Cádiz was founded by the Phoenicians (Gadir), was under Roman (Gades), and later Al-Andalus (Qadis) control. 14:20 The famous Running of the Bulls is in Pamplona, in Navarra (Northern Spain).
The running of the bulls is in Pamplona (Navarre), on the north of Spain. Bullfighting is predominantly on the south (though you also have/had it till recently in Madrid or Barcelona). In the North (Galicia) you have the trim/cutting of the beasts, which basically is people catch wild mares in the forest to trim their manes and then set them free till the next year.

6:00 it's such a rare thing to see an American knowing about foreign history. You'd like to see this country. It's full of contrasts, from the British looking of the northern Atlantic coastline and their own cultures to the arid zones of the south, not forgetting all the legacy romans, greeks, barbarians and obviously the arabians left here. And when you're tired of that you have the Balearic and Canary archipelagos that have a caribean look with an european touch.
I live in the Alicante region of Spain, on the Costa Blanca, and haven’t yet seen much of Spain. Weather is amazing which means I get out and about for walks at least 3 times a week. Biggest Royal Palace is indeed Palacio Real in Madrid... There is no Royal Palace in Moscow as it isnt a kingdom....the biggest castle however would be Malbork Castle in Poland, built in 1274 by Teutonic Knights.
I think it's the biggest royal residence in use, but actually, the biggest palace in Europe is Reggia di Caserta near Naples, but nowadays it's a museum (because Italy is a republic). Reggia di Caserta was commisioned by Charles VII of Naples, who later became king of Spain by the name of Charles III.

Spanish here, min: 11:00 yeah I can confirm that is bigger than Buckingham Palace, it's absolutely crazy, It is twice the size of Buckingham. A curiosity that not many people know is that the façade of the palace is adorned by statues of all the Kings that Spain has had, and next to them are the statues of Moctezuma and Atahualpa recognizing them as sovereigns. In fact, another curious fact, one of the most important police forces in the country, the "Guardia Civil" was founded by a descendant of Moctezuma in the 19th century, the Duke of Ahumada as its first director. In fact, Moctezuma's descendants continue to live in Spain as nobles, If I'm not mistaken, they currently hold the Duchy of Ahumada, the Marquisate of Amarillas and the Marquisate of Moctezuma.

Yes, the north of Spain is very old, and Castille and Leon were doing great, meanwhile in the south we were doing even better, the capital of Al Andalus, Córdoba, was the biggest city in the world.
The Montserrat mountains are not as old as they seem due to their eroded appearance. On the contrary, they are quite "modern". They are the molasses coming from the erosion of the first moments of elevation of the reliefs of the Pyrenees. They are loose, sandy, clayey, poorly cemented materials, which makes them very vulnerable to erosion.

True.. No need to destroy a mountain to make the road bigger.
Some of the Galician coast rocks have 1160 million years: 1.160.000.000 years
Most of my region in Rias Baixas, have 400 millions.
my village is more than 5500 years old, for example.
We are an old Earth part.
Only Newfoundland in Canada, zones of Poland and Australia are as old or more old than this part of the world.

GALIZA MENCIONADA 🗣🗣🗣
The oldest cities in Spain are actually in the South. Cadiz is the oldest city in Europe, for example.
And the nets in the water that you see in Mallorca are not for sharks. It is a line so that boats do not cross it for safety reasons.
Yes there is... there are Great White Sharks in the Med and as we all know they are pretty dangerous.....
If you don't want to take the risk, don't worry come to visit us and be happy roasting your skin on the beach, but is not necessary to scare other people.

Cíes (In Galicia) has one of the best beaches in the world. The whole island is so beautiful (Playa de Rodas my personal favourite.)

These open squares that you like in European cities were market places in the middle ages. In Belgium, where I live, they are still called market (Markt in dutch, Marché in french) and there are a lot in each city:
Shoe market, coal market, grain market, corn market, cattle market, fish market,
Flower market, …
The big square in front if the city hall is called ‘big market’
Hello, the running bulls is in Pamplona, north of Spain.
👍 Very interesting.
No, the bulls are held in the city of Pamplona in the autonomous community of Navarra, northern Spain.
The bulls are almost in all spain but Pamplona is San Fermin date and is the most famous bcos Heminway wrote about it
14:28 that's in all of Spain, there's one in Madrid, Toledo and a lot of other cities in Spain, even in little towns you can find some. When festivity comes they put barriers of the streets and houses so bulls follow the path to the bulls ring or "plaza de toros" in spanish
Bulls are put to run in the street only in some particular cities and towns. Pamplona in the North is the most notorious place for that.
t
The running of the bulls is in Pamplona in the North of Spain. Btw, I have been to Ronda. It's very pretty :)
Quite Rural zones of "Castille and Lion" in spring looks like very similar to the Shire of LotR. Green pastures, cultives, hills, flowers, river vegetation...
The running of the bulls (san Fermín) is in Pamplona (Navarre)
no shark net friend, it´s a bath protected from boats zone.
The running of the bulls is in Pamplona , Northern Spain.
These are the most famous, but running is the bulls is held in many many villages and towns
The running of the bulls IS something that happends in allí of Spain, but the most famous one IS the Pamplona one.
the running of the bulls happens in Pamplona, Navarra, up north. What you saw in Seville was a bull figthing ring.
14:30 we used to do it in most spain, we just put a bunch of fences so the bull doesnt scape, but seville is one of the cities that have a "plaza de toros"
The thing with the Montserrat mountains is that they were under the sea, so it's eroded by water, even you can find seashells in the rocks, that's why it has this stunning looks
August is definitely a time to avoid visiting, because of the heat, however climate change is seeing a serious shortage of rain this year and my region is averaging temperatures that are 2.3c degrees higher than average for the time of year.
I am English and I love everything about Spain. I have been many times. Andalucia is my favourite part.but I also love Madrid and Barcelona. However regarding your comments about climate. I am a person who cannot take sticky heat and Spain has a lovely DRY heat. I have been in August many times and never found it unpleasant so I was surprised about your comments regarding heat in August. I think almost everybody would find the Spanish climate is pleasant.
"Northen Spain it´s a sunny place" mate you ain´t gonna believe if i tell you xd
I definitely recomend you to go to León aswell. Beautiful city, full of history and old places to visit, really close to Picos de Europa, great food, packed with bars and awesome people.
hey! nice video! i heard you said you wanted to go to El Alcazar de Segovia cause it was also a museum. Well, almost every important and big castles are also museums. You can get in and watch the inside from every building you saw on the video. keep it up!
I live in Malaga on the Costa del Sol in the area of Arroyo del Meil.
When talking about Ibiza there are many images that are actually from the island of Formentera, which is very close. You can see the Ses Illetes beach, considered one of the best in Europe
3:20. That's not a shark net. Those buoys delimits the swimming area to avoid yatchs and other boats go closer to people. It's like a "safe zone". In Spain sharks are quite rare.
I'm from Ibiza, and deserved spot. I hate night party, but the sea here is just gorgeous
Maravillosas playas y calas en Ibiza.
As a spaniard, im happy to see people reacting to my homeland.
I'm from Mallorca and no, we don't have sharks, nets are there to avoit tourists' boats to get too close to the beach, in order to save underwater resources ^^
I'm so proud to be spanish , our culture, religión, gastronomy ,history and like you see in this video ,our beautiful landscapes.❤ love and peace.
well... i don't like how USA streets seems focused on cars either, but keep in mind that if our cities weren't so old probably we would also have our streets focusing on car traffic mainly
In spain yuo can do Bull running every day of the year is a slogan bcos al of the towns have a Saint and most of them have Bull running during the week of their festivity. Pamplona iin Saint Fermin jul 7th

Pamplona is the city that have the festivity of run in front of the bulls not Sevilla, but in Sevilla they do a lot of Corridas with is a men/women confronting a bull.

Yes the" Palacio Real" from Madrid is bigger than the Buckingham Palace, in Europe i think only the Moskau one is bigger than the Spanish.

The Winter Palace Saint Petersburg served as the official residence of the House of Romanov, previous emperors, from 1732 to 1917 and was founded by Peter the Great in 1703. But I still get you, you a lot of different titles, but the facts the same...;-)

The spanish royal family do not live in Palacio Real de Madrid "Royal Palace of Madrid", they live in Palacio de la Zarzuela, so is it really a Royal Palace..?? lets just agree they are all fascinating constructions that tell stories of our past.
Great video! I’m from Bilbao, I hope you like my hometown!
6:00 and a lote of old guns in the forest i found an old destroyed mosin there
Monterrat's funny shape is because is so old that it was under the sea, thousands of years ago.
Actually, the running of the bulls is in the north, in Pamplona. Cool video and reaction, thanks!
It happens every year in July.
Yeah, but there is bullfighting almost in every part of Spain

Running of the bulls = Pamplona and most towns citys have bull rings for Bull fighting even a lot of villages too
Just one thing, the royal palace is no longer the residence of the spanish Royal family. Nowadays, the Royal residence is Palacio de la Zarzuela.
3:26 it's not a shark net, its the limit for the boats, they can't go any further so there is a safe place for swimmers
He sadly missed the Pyrinees. Ordesa y Monte Perdido to be exact
Visiting Spain IS easy. That's another point if you compare to Italy wich have terrible roads and cities are often dirty. That's not Spain.
14:30 , yea you're right, it's "Plaza de toros", there are many around the country.
This fella's a master at cliff-jumping and tumbling, but he's a world master at mispronouncing almost every place he refers to him.

Yes, the north of Spain is very old, and Castille and Leon were doing great, meanwhile in the south we were doing even better, the capital of Al Andalus, Córdoba, was the biggest city in the world.
Im from the north of spain, of Asturias and yes, is beatiful
The Montserrat mountains are not as old as they seem due to their eroded appearance. On the contrary, they are quite "modern". They are the molasses coming from the erosion of the first moments of elevation of the reliefs of the Pyrenees. They are loose, sandy, clayey, poorly cemented materials, which makes them very vulnerable to erosion.
14:29,no,the running bulls is in city of Pamplona,in the north of Spain.
1) Not a shark net, probably a boat net to avoid ships entering and hurting the people swinmming or sporting there. 2) The running of the bulls is in Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, in the north.
i love how he gave more time to montserat than seville .....
The net are 4 ships, the can't go past them into the beach and people swimming sould avoid going into the ocean or they are in danger of being killed by a boat passing over them
