I saw Grand Funk Railroad live in concert at Wild Adventures in Lowndes County, Georgia in August 2022. They were high energy through and through, but it was just Don Brewer and Mel Schacter plus three other musicians. Mark Farner wasn’t in the lineup, though. Mel, Don, and Mark need to mend fences, break bread, bury the hatchet, and stage a reunion tour. It would be one for the ages.
Saw GFR in Madison Square Garden in NYC in 1971. When Mark Farner jumped off the piano my whole world turned upside down. First date with a new girl and 48 years later we are still rockin! Great memories
I saw them twice. First concert I ever saw in '73 and again on this tour. They were known for being CRAZY LOUD back in the day.......and they WERE!! As classic as it gets!!
Excellent as always! Fantastic quality and the kicker at the beginning is priceless! Thanks John, the exuberance the guys show on stage together during this clip is something to be cherished!
Thanks JohninFunk for posting another great GFR video. Keep up the great video posting. It is great to have such a devoted GFR fan such as yourself to remind fans like me why GFR was and why NRG is still a great act.
I never got to see them but I came close. I saw Bob Seger at the old Spectrum in Philly in the early 80s, and guess who was playing the drums for him...complete with his legendary red sparkle kit, white shirt with bloused sleeves, and Afro? Yep - Don Brewer. He didn't do any vocals, but did an excellent job driving Bob's band.
I'm not much on comments but today I was trying to find a classic rock station on my wife's fancy ass New Ford AWD Edge Titanium. Anyway I found this station that's suppose to be pure classic rock. So I definitely tuned in. Only to hear Michael Jackson singing Ben. I was thinking once in awhile they'd play something like this. Anyway the very next song was Smokey Robinson. Afterwards the D.J.had a guest. A black rapper from the 80s. The D.J. then announced that they were playing all black music during Black History Month. I have no issues with Smokey Robinson or Michael Jackson or Black History Month even if it does contribute to division of race. But I wanted to listen to classic rock so I turned on Utube and listened to Grand Funks Greatest Hits. After turning the volume up. Some Kind Of Wonderful.

Such a shame they can't still be together.. because they would still rock harder than 99% of bands out there today.
