Hi Yoyoka I am a Drum Instructor for The School of Rock In California Just wanted to tell you that was PERFECT!!!!! note for note PERFECT!!! great job!!! :) :) :)
Don Brewer's touring drum tech confirmed somewhere on here that she did perfectly nail it. Most music child prodigies play piano, violin, cello, etc whilst Yoyoka blows away that stereotype with her ability on the skins. I'm looking forward to seeing where she'll be musically ten years from now when she'll be 21. 🥁
I can't take credit for it but I think the best review of Yoyoka's drumming came from the guy who said: "I wish our drummer would quit so Yoyoka could join our band. And I'm the drummer."
Exactly, you cannot ignore the natural talent, but its the joy that takes to "11". It cannot be taught. It cannot be captured. She has it. Everyone else wants it.
As the war in Israel heats up it was a good thing to remember this video of the nine year old joy bomb named Yoyoka. When life seems too crazy to believe, I watch this video and remember it is not all bad. This, then child, now budding woman, proves that. Happy fourteenth birthday Yoyoka.

Jimbo 0117 . Very true! I have a friend (a tiny guy, almost as small as her...kidding) who does most of the singing in his band while drumming it away. It amazed me, also.
So much power for such a small person. Her kick drum technique and the way she whips the sticks for maximum power for minimal effort is beyond incredible.

One thing is to be all “cutesy” and smiling... the other thing is to be a professional caliber drummer like this little girl is. Yoyoka is an incredible talent well beyond her age. One can only wonder what would have been of, say, Bonzo, with this level of equipment and exposure to music at this age. We’re about to find out what happens to a natural talent like both, when one of them starts at this level THIS early in life. Only wonderful things can come out of these little hands, little feet and giant brain. Yoyoka, I’m always in awe watching your videos. Keep them coming and never stop. Our world needs more amazing little girls like you.
Yoyoka... She DEFINITELY put the ROCK in Rock and Roll! I just LOVE her expressions. She's having such a blast playing some of the best music ever! Zep, Cream, Grand Funk, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Stray Cats, Rush, Jamiroquai... GEEZ... She covered So many great songs and NAILED EVERY ONE of them!!! I LOVE this kid! 😀
I love the full swing of the sticks.. and she is actually doing what everyone does in their car when playing air drums.. facial expressions and everything else.
Man what a free loose swing 👏👏👏🤪with a smile to boot 🥾😎😎😎👏👏👏👍🏻🥂not easy to stay in the pocket on a cover...that’s impressive 👏👏👏actually this is so much more than just copying the original....she has a real joy and feel for the song that she infuses her performance with and you get lifted up by her energy and joy 😎
I’m older now, have heard all of this music she drums to for decades and her timing is impeccable, making it more incredible that she is a child. Her parents must be proud.
Yoyoka is clearly gifted, and also puts in the work practicing, so kudos to her and to her family for encouraging her, but also - and I think this gets mentioned less often - kudos to them for raising her in an environment of such great music?? I was born early enough that my childhood covered all of the 1970s, the whole ten-year-long kit and caboodle of it, so to me this music is my childhood because it’s what was in the air, playing everywhere or blasting out the windows of folks’ Volkswagen Beetles, Thunderbirds, and vans, from their radios, 8-tracks, or (later) cassette decks… but this family must’ve gone out of their way to play music with great drumming for Yoyoka, and kudos to them for it!
FYI.. in one of her vids where she is playing drums with another teenage drummer, he asked her about how much she practices. Yoyoka replied that "I am lazy and don't like practicing. I practice maybe 30 min a day, an hour or so when learning a new song." Needless to say the teenage drummer was shocked! She also doesn't know how to read music. Oh! She also states in other videos that at the age of 2, listening to the Beatles started her love of drumming. She cites being hooked on Ringo Starr. Her parents are musicians and they would have friends over to jam.
I've watched a few Yoyoka interview videos, and interviews with her parents. Her parents say Yoyoka finds some of her favourite music herself. They said she started drumming to Led Zeppelin, at about 7yo, and they didn't recognise it. She was self-taught from 2yo to 9yo. Also, her parents and Yoyoka both say she was only allowed to practice 30 minutes/day until she reached 9yo. Her parents wanted her to grow up as a normal kid. 👏 So she got this good, while her body grew, I guess, about 50% as she developed coordination, strength and speed. All the while learning how to make friendships, speak, read, ride a bike, and handle getting a younger brother. Plus, she has the 'ear' and ability to find Led Zeppelin, and other music, herself! 👍😂 Key to her life are her wonderful parents, family and their friends. Her parents are musicians, so she was hearing live music before she was born. She says they live in a rural part of Japan, so they can make lots of noise. 😃They have a home studio where her parents' band would practice. Plus her parents put musical instruments in most rooms. So even before she could walk, she'd experienced live music. I think children (anyone!) react to live music and musical instruments more viscerally than reproduced music.
@@jossdionne9810 No it's not. Someone there knows how to mic a drum set and is using quality microphones. There may be some basic adjustments with EQ, sound levels and reverb that any drum recording would use, but that is all IMHO.
I get what you're saying (and I agree with you) because Yoyoka is my absolute favorite. She is an awesome talent! But you need to also check out JUNNA. Most ENTERTAINING drummer in the world. Another Japanese Girl that is an awesome player. Her facial expressions and energy will floor you. She hits the drums like they owe her money. Killer performance.I am a fan, and I will continue to follow her until my passing.Yoyoka is a musical genius and a ground breaker for many that will follow.I've heard other young drummers, but she's the one to beat. She has a massive sound!!!
Every post by Yoyoka is a good post! Just makes my day every time. Next time she's in the U.S., we need to stand up and shout as one: YO YO _KA!_ YO YO _KA!_ YO YO _KA!_
I recommend you to look at this at half speed. Then you can see all the finesses yoyoka does. All those intricate rhythmic stuff and all the ghost notes. It is magic. You can even see how the hands times with the footwork. Scary stuff!!
Both what an incredible talent. Great god almighty what is she gonna be like at twenty!!! Keith Moon and John Bonham someone is about to grab your titles!! Im sure they would both love her! Shes 10 and already heading to be the best rock drummer who ever lived!!
I can't stop watching this Girl !!!!! The most "IN TUNE " perfect drummer I've " EVER " heard !!!!!!!!!!! Seeing her play is THE BIGGEST THRILL I KNOW !!!!! Un-FUCKING BELIEVABLE !!!!!!
Wow the intro part with the bass foot has that same triples thing Bonham did in Good Times Bad Times and this little 9 year old girl does it effortlessly. I'm 64 and been playing drums on and off for 40 years and I can't do that! Lol. You're amazing Yoyoka!!!
I'm working on this song on drums, and I was looking for drum covers for ideas. I initially skipped this one because it was just a little kid. Turns out this video was the closest I could find to the isolated drum track of the original song. Amazing.
Don't know wtf is wrong with the 77 who hit the thumbs down. I assume they've got to be jealous of a young lady who has mastered the drums, making it look so easy. Plus she is having so much fun drumming with so much enthusiasm. Keep going. You are fantastic.
JOY BOMB, JOY BOMB, JOY BOMB. Just like so many folk have said, whenever I am feeling a bit low, Yoyoka's pure happiness as she plays always lifts me. her skill is amazing, but it's that joy that kills my blues. Having entered her teen years now, she is naturally becoming a little more stoic and serious. Yet now and then she shows you that she still has a childlike energy inside as she plays. Her amazing skill is self-evident, as is her optimism. This planet could use more Yoyoka.
If ever you find yourself in need of a smile, just watch Yoyoka.

It is somehow going through sound enhancement hitech systems...
@@jossdionne9810 No it's not. Someone there knows how to mic a drum set and is using quality microphones. There may be some basic adjustments with EQ, sound levels and reverb that any drum recording would use, but that is all IMHO.
Sound no better or worse to my ears.
Old school drummer here. Let me tell you, she is brilliantly talented. Love it.
ドラム目線で見ることで何百回と聞いた曲が新しい解釈で見れて楽しいです。ジャズなんかも聞いてみたいです。
I don't believe I've ever seen a drummer who enjoys the instrument more than she does. Love her smile! :-)
I hit the floor when she starts on the drum pedals because I think a machine gun is going off. I love them both for different reasons. Reaction videos to her a similar to Yoyoka. Their jaws just drop and they don't know what to saw. For both girls. ua-cam.com/video/rBPjoNzvqcE/v-deo.html
Love this kid’s playing! Extremely talented. And choice of song, a classic.
Having a bad day? Watch this little princess drumming your blues away. That's what a doctor should prescribes to all during this pandemic season
Every time I watch this,I love it more and more.

I been playing since i was 8 yrs old I'm 60 years old and still enjoy the drums, you are fabulous on the drums..Great job,. On this song, I couldn't even get it right to this day, I think i need lessons from you lol ...Job well done
She can sign you up...She's been giving lessons since she was 5! LOL She's also a judge on "Hit Like A Girl" according to her IMDb profile.
Killer performance.I am a fan, and I will continue to follow her until my passing.Yoyoka is a musical genius and a ground breaker for many that will follow.I've heard other young drummers, but she's the one to beat. She has a massive sound!!!
Yoyoka has taped into a deep well of joy.
Her right foot never stopped pounding the kick drum. Love it
Every post by Yoyoka is a good post! Just makes my day every time.
Next time she's in the U.S., we need to stand up and shout as one: YO YO _KA!_ YO YO _KA!_ YO YO _KA!_
Yoyoka's coming to your town... she'll help you party down...
My favorite Yoyoka cover, she surely channels the might of the old GFR!
I recommend you to look at this at half speed. Then you can see all the finesses yoyoka does. All those intricate rhythmic stuff and all the ghost notes. It is magic. You can even see how the hands times with the footwork. Scary stuff!!
Who is having more fun? Yoyoka playing drums OR all of us watching Yoyoka play drums?
Not entirely sure really. I was asking the same question myself just recently :)
I can say I watch this probably everyday. It makes me happy to see the joy on her face. Plus it's an awesome song..
Both?
Both what an incredible talent. Great god almighty what is she gonna be like at twenty!!!
Keith Moon and John Bonham someone is about to grab your titles!! Im sure they would both love her!
Shes 10 and already heading to be the best rock drummer who ever lived!!
Both, definitely. There is no "or" in this case.
I can't stop watching this Girl !!!!! The most "IN TUNE " perfect drummer I've " EVER " heard !!!!!!!!!!! Seeing her play is THE BIGGEST THRILL I KNOW !!!!! Un-FUCKING BELIEVABLE !!!!!!
いわゆる真骨頂! すごく力強いドラムだねぇ
Who could possibly thumbs down this? I started playing drums when I was 12, I'm 60 now and this is rock n roll. Yoyoka, you are amazing.
Wow the intro part with the bass foot has that same triples thing Bonham did in Good Times Bad Times and this little 9 year old girl does it effortlessly. I'm 64 and been playing drums on and off for 40 years and I can't do that! Lol. You're amazing Yoyoka!!!
Hello from Toronto Yoyoka🤗. We love you in Canada and if you ever come here please get up and play with my band.
I'm working on this song on drums, and I was looking for drum covers for ideas. I initially skipped this one because it was just a little kid. Turns out this video was the closest I could find to the isolated drum track of the original song. Amazing.
Nicky J. Allison She has a drums-only version also!
Don't know wtf is wrong with the 77 who hit the thumbs down. I assume they've got to be jealous of a young lady who has mastered the drums, making it look so easy. Plus she is having so much fun drumming with so much enthusiasm. Keep going. You are fantastic.
Sounds like bruised ego.🤔
JOY BOMB, JOY BOMB, JOY BOMB. Just like so many folk have said, whenever I am feeling a bit low, Yoyoka's pure happiness as she plays always lifts me. her skill is amazing, but it's that joy that kills my blues. Having entered her teen years now, she is naturally becoming a little more stoic and serious. Yet now and then she shows you that she still has a childlike energy inside as she plays. Her amazing skill is self-evident, as is her optimism. This planet could use more Yoyoka.
Shout out to good parenting as well.
I love how she's going flat out. An energy I can only envy in the best way possible.
