    This guy is amazing in explaining things... As a slow learner, I've learned things from him. All his videos rock!

    Great video and well explained. I love the aerial to go with it. Ties it all in. I am an experienced skilled commercial capt for 18 years and had a delivery last week with this new system. I wasn’t fully aware how to use it so I stayed with the conventional throttles. I wish I watched your video before so I could have had the chance to really play with this new system and enjoy it! I’ll have to wait for the next delivery now. Thanks for the post, great stuff!!

    Motor Boat &Yachting,
    Hello Mr Mendes, just a thank you. I'm not an owner or a fender kicker😂 but have watched all the How to videos avidly. I used to be on RAF target launches in the 80's and we all had to have very good handling skills. The ease of your instruction is just great.
    I wish I really was an owner as I'd be signing up for the boat handling courses that are run near you.
    Best wishes,
    Jonathan

    Drove one of these today for a client and this video was very helpful. I have operated DP supply vessels and anchor handling supply vessels so was pretty failure with the concept. I was looking for a card that had a short break-down of the symbols on the controls. The client did not know if they came with one. DO YOU HAVE ?

    Can that be installed on a 45' Catamaran sailboat? Is it safe?

    Really helpful video but I would have liked to seen a camera on the joystick control in addition. Not a criticism just a helpful addition

      If you look at parts of the video like 1:54 you can see a camera pointed at the joystick but I think they must have edited out that footage

    When Michael Cain's not doing movies, he's instructing us in the use of the IPS system!
    "You were only supposed to dock the bloody boat!"

    I note it wasn't used in the demonstration, but why is that boat fitted with a bow thruster as well? I spotted the control on the dash.

    • @chefdan87
      @chefdan87 5 років тому

      Redundancy. If one system fails you have a backup.The boat might have had a retrofit for the ips system and the bow thruster is now not needed.

    I used to sell power boats... and we would do "on the Water Deliveries" for new owners, if they wanted. It was always recommended, especially if first-time owners, or when 'moving up' from a smaller boat to a much larger one.
    And we would take them out to open water, and locate a couple of buoys -- as reference points -- and let them learn and practice these types of skills. (Much safer for surrounding boats than doing this in a Marina! LOL!)
    But just as Driving skills for a car do not 'translate' to riding skills for a motorcycle... Driving a car is also VERY different from operating a boat!
    But very few boat owners will actually take "Skills Training"... (sad) And they are mostly 'self-taught' by trial & error...

    What if the wind is too strong and the idle power that ips uses is not enough?

    • @erikbuiten14
      @erikbuiten14 5 років тому +3

      JedemPoKucama Ips can use full motor power, so i do not see a problem. Ips uses the same range of power as you, the driver, if it is neccecary

      This IPS is the actual whole engine. Its not something bolted to a engine that is already installed.

    Business idea: Self-deploying drone that takes off at the push of a button and gives you a live top-down view for docking/difficult maneuvers. It should also land and charge itself automatically. Alternatively: A telescopic pole with a top down camera that does the same.

    IPS and a bow thruster? Is the bow thruster really needed?

    • @agontop1
      @agontop1 4 роки тому

      Absolutely!! It is redundancy. Lets say the joystick malfunctions leaving you with conventional throttles only.. As a skilled captain (commercially) I rarely use a bow thruster, however, there have been a few situations with strong winds and a really tight docking space that a bow thruster has saved my @ss. With long light bows, you’ll loose them very fast and they sometimes aren’t easy to recover. w/out a bow thruster.

    If you cant figure out how to use a joystick to move a boat, you shouldn’t be operating a boat. Literally position the stick how you want the boat to maneuver.

      I have been boating for 25 years I passed throw 6 boats from a 50 ft riva special to formula 353 fastech today. Ive never had issues with out using Ips drives more fun and enjoyable using the gears :) Ips drives are an accessory for today's boats its all part of a preference / luxury perk. Not what you just stated if one can't the ips joystick one shouldn't be boating... seems your a novice boater to have passed such a silly remark
