Very informative video picked up some good ideas. A question for you my son has a sonoff basic inline switch and a wifi light switch, when he put netflix on his tv neither of his lights worked i'm presuming his router switched over from 2.4 to 5 gh when netflix went off lights came on. Should his phone picked up the signal on 4g like yours? Hope the info on router helped somebody else
Thanks for the comment. The Netflix issue makes nonsense. It should in theory be running both bands at the same time. You could try getting a WiFi extender and add the smart tech to that network.

I would like to only use google assistant for this smart-plug to work with voice if that is possible? Can I just add/select the smart-plug app, directly into google assistant?
Thanks for the comment much appreciated. Yes unfortunately to use the voice commands you will have to purchase an Amazon Alexa or Google Home. You won't be able to do without as smart control option won't be available in the Google Home app.
Hi thank you for the added information! =) I kinda understand, I see some benefits of the Home having a build in chrome cast and see some value there, but not really convincing yet! I am running the google assistant on the galaxy s8, works great and was hoping to detect smart-plugs with that alone.. (Just like a normal manual/remote controlled wall-plug) Maybe someone should try duplicating the Google Home accessories with a Raspberry or backup smartphone, and maybe avoid unwanted costs, and bypass the add-ons this way !? The smart wall plugs however, don`t need any Google Home App in any way, they have one for themselves..They come along with dedicated apps for using them, right!? But instead of having multiple smart-plug apps, everyone would like to store these under one manager/assistant I guess!? So Google assistant should include this feature on the smartphone to extend on this voice command service, instead of fronting with by-products when we don`t need to, don`t you think? It`s also about time for changing the 'Ok Google', this is very annoying, so me is waiting for updates again. My search for answers continues..
You initially connected your phone to the device using wifi,but how does it work when you switch to 4G? Shouldn't the device also be connected to network for work over 4G?
i have one of these ,, been working for a year then now it doesn,t turn on when i plug it in electricity wall . i discovered i have to plug it for 5 minutes 1st " it does,t light during the 1st time " , then unplug and replug to get it to work ?? .. wht i discovered is that it have to plug it to get it to worm tempreture then unplug and replug to make it work ?? any idea what could be he problem ?
@@GeekStreet it works perfectly as long as electricity doesn,t go out ,, when electricity goes out for 15 minutes and come back it doesn,t turn on ,,, i have to unplug it , then replug it in to start .... may bt its internal hardware ,,, but i wonder what component might do that ,,, its not the replay or semiconductor i think ..
thanks for the reply (nonsense) what happened is as I told you my son has been on virgin for some time now without any problems until he decided to try netflix the switches I mentioned are in the same room as router, so good signal, as soon as netflix went off switches paired themselves back on

The device connects to WiFi and then it connects to sonoff servers, that's how your able to connect via 4G.
Do you have any idea how to control the timer of the plug via google home assistant? I cant seem to make the timer work on mine

It sounds faulty perhaps a component has burnt out!?
