      I looked it up. Apart from the fact there seems to be only 1 practitioner with credentials listed in their sleu of practionioners it more or less seems like a legit therapy/ healing workshop. I watched the first of their series of filmed workshops on their website. But the deeper you go I suppose it could get more problematic? A lot of practioners seem to have spiritual specialities so unless that fits its your personal belief system it could get more problematic. but off the bat I don't see anything super cohesive or manipulative about it. It was more interesting for me to watch compared to one of Yalom's videos which have scripted actors. It would be super cool to see Dr. Honda react to those too, lol.

      i forgot to add that there website does advertise peace conflict/resolution between Palestine & Israel's over a 30month program, which seems wayyy overly ambitious - but I guess I would need more information in what exactly they hope to accomplish. If they think they have a better shot of ending war then they decades long efforts put into it, than that is pretty delusional. but ya know, even Dr. Honda from time to time says things like 'just imagine if we could get countries to speak from their core feelings and stop misunderstanding eachother,' however he tryst to say that....

    So basically he lies to himself and others to achieve his goals. It's beyond me how people like this can be so popular. It's so easy to see through his act. He's not even that crafty or intelligent. I know some will say it's because people _want_ to believe in what he says, but there has to be more to it than that. Toxic masculinity + confirmation bias? Desperation? The need to follow others?
    I can think of so many things I'd love to believe in, karma for example, but if it's incorrect or BS I just can't.

    • @nmk420

      No, he chooses not to give the negativity in his life power and when he does that, he achieves his goals because all he thinks about is the positive Labeling yourself as a depressed person is like claiming a defeat before the fight is even started . I don’t know how you didn’t get that. Do you know the power of the tongue? Do you know you can speak things into existence? and there’s no such thing as toxic masculinity it’s just ignorance and immaturity, true masculinity, and femininity, are by no means toxic in any shape or form. True masculinity provides and protects. True femininity takes care of and nurtures.

      Trur, almost none of these practioners have liscenses or creditials and may lack the proper education. however somatic therapy is a real modality and radical acceptance is a concept applied to some therapy approaches as well. Hopefully, someday, he realizes he is enough, and always was enough, and that he doesn't have to live in survival mode all the time, constantly trying to prove his worth, that he is better than other people, that he can't be wrong.

    When i'm suffering of a period of major depression, forcing myself do things often just makes me feel worse because it reminds me of how i don't get joy out of anything.
    I swear maybe even most people don't know what they're talking about when talking about depression. They talk like it's just some kind of sadness that you can switch off by doing something fun. :S I know there's levels to clinical depression, and on top of that the word is used to describe a mood or a feeling. I really hope the language would change in some ways, since at worst it's _pure torture_ , that's invisible and some don't even believe it exists.

    • @Wordywizard1121
      @Wordywizard1121 6 місяців тому +4

      It is my understanding that therapists use 'clinical terminology' as a way of understanding/describing the complex symptoms of a given stranger. This is mainly for their own use and for therapy session planning. I agree that the terminology, especially the term depression, is now used to describe inconveniences such as an empty mayonnaise jar in the fridge, cloud cover, waiting etc. but this is happening to the language as a whole and it's effecting our ability to communicate with care and responsibility. That being said, words should have meaning and a greater effort could be made by therapists to clear the air.
      Depression feels like a shell term with little merit tbh. I've thought that the experience feels more like possession but not in a religious way, like a captive trafficked through a deafening personal silence of chaos. Anyway, thought I'd share also. Thanks for being open and honest, it means a lot. Take care of yourself!

      @Wordywizard1121 6 місяців тому

      @@Rpayan24 Focus definitely plays a part. 'Don't keep starting into the abyss' or 'what you seek, seeks you' kinda idea. I think when massive change happens and your ability to cope or adapt is effected by mood then you don't give that mood energy or power. The thing is, sometimes the change, shock, trauma etc can be superimposed on your view of life, knock you back on your heels.
      All I'm saying is that sometimes you need to focus on it, learn what you can but then you do have to put it down as best you can.

    • @cheyyhigh
      @cheyyhigh 6 місяців тому +1

      While I agree, I've dealt with being depressed for 10 years. I'm 30 now, and around the age of 28-29 I recognized and faced my debilitating issues head on that'd been eating at me for YEARS. I faced everything that had been holding me back which was keeping me depressed. Along with being misdiagnosed with MDD and anxiety, going off meds cold turkey, attempting twice, ending up in a mental health hospital, got rediagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder, was put on the correct cocktail of meds, went to therapy for a year, journaled, got my ass up every single day to practice yoga, and now I'm thriving like no other. I haven't been depressed since...I don't even know how long. It's been that long.
      Happiness and defeating depression is possible. You just have to get off your butt and DO SOMETHING. Starting is the first and hardest step, but it'll actually get you somewhere when you're fed up and GET UP to change your life instead of wallowing in your sorrows. Practice gratefulness was very beneficial, too.
      I hope you're able to take the first step to do something, even if it's just taking the trash out of your happy place when you get down and low again 🫶🏽

      One thing I think is REALLY interesting is why one subset of the population sees Tate-type bravado and performative masculinity and interprets it as indicative of internal strength and and secure identity. And then another subset, including myself, sees it as a screaming red flag that the person is extremely unstable in terms of their core self-esteem. What is it about OUR psychology that causes different people to interpret his behaviour in entirely disparate ways?
      Sometimes I actually feel sorry for Tate, because I get the feeling he has very little sense of internal peace. The shaky self esteem reads rather like continual anxiety to me. I wonder how much time he actually spends feeling just at peace with himself.

    I get building rapport with these type of clients, but that assumes they continue with therapy and work toward bettering themselves eventually. I know from my experience with my ex husband, therapists would use this strategy, but he would only go for a few visits, feel validated and use that against me forevermore about how the therapist agreed with him (really they didn’t refute him and whenever he left the room there was concerned conversations with me about my safety) and I am the one who was horrible. “Even therapist agrees.” Conversely, he severed relationships and left church’s for people/pastors who spoke up to him about his behavior. So I do see the dilemma, but I do think you have to tread carefully so they don’t feel completely validated in their abusive behaviors

Everything he sayz seems belittling, dismissive, arrogant. I truly think its a persona he uses for shock value. My only shock is that i listened to him speak for 60 seconds. As intelligent & observant as Dr Honda is, it seems his time could be used analyzing someone worthwhile.

      I get the feeling he’s a good example of someone with NPD with particularly poor self-awareness. I find Jacob Skidmore more interesting from the perspective that he appears to have more self-awareness. Essentially, both have found a way to monetise their Narcissism, but Skidmore has sufficient internal stability to recognise his Narcissism, whereas Tate is probably in full blown denial.

    I mean what’s the point of trying to analize him and “make him a better person”? He has everything a man wants in life, me included. Not only money. He’s very smart, kickboxing world champion, he donates money to charity, believes in god and do his daily prayers, helps his family, can discuss with you politics, history, geography, economy and has a perfect speech. Obviously I don’t think that there are really people who leave under the rocks, believe the media and still think that the accusations he received are true… I mean we all know that he didn’t commit any of those bs crimes (they literally showed the chats between the girls planning on accusing him, it’s really disturbing). So the question is what’s the point of trying to analize him and find “something wrong in him”? He’s 100% happy and satisfied, what’s the point of trying to “change” him by making him realize that “he’s insecure” or “he doesn’t know himself” etc…

      I disagree. having limited empathy is not the same as not having feelings. Feelings often times are what drives/motivates behavior, including harming others. When people like narcissists end up in therapy they will usually seek help for depression. As Dr. Honda puts it "their lives are trainwrecks." Even emotions like anger and rage, are just masking the inner hurt/pain/sadness underneath. If we look at Jeffery Dohmer for example, most experts think he was incredibly lonely and isolated and he did what he did to feel closer to his victims - so there is indeed emotion hidden under that. Or Charles Manson - I don't think he would have started a cult or tried to "get in" with the beach Boys writing a love song if he didn't care about his reputation, didn't need outside validation to feel valuable. Without feelings I doubt any of that would matter.

    i think most people never experienced depression, and because of that, they see depression as a sad mood, something everyone has sometimes. They think about those 1 or 3 days they feel like doing nothing, or being sad about something.
    If they knew depression they would have know that it is way more than that, its like you are trapped in a negative mindset where you cant come out, it can happen without any reason, and its not just those 1 of 3 days of feeling sad, but its on daily basis feeling extremely down, to the point most people think about killing themselfs.
    Because most people now a days think about depression as just few bad days, they will tell you its your own choice and it does not exist.

    Andrew is a fascinating individual and his spiritual perspective is on point. I’m looking forward to seeing him evolve and grow and I hope he gets comfortable being present ❤

      the guy is so insecure. it reeks...and I am no therapist. yikes. he has a lot of evolving to do. also, isn't it hard for narcs/anti social personality disorder types to evolve? Like, almost impossible???

      i mean, he’s a violent criminal offender and perpetrator of intimate partner violence, I wouldn’t exactly call him “on point”

      @@kimberlyevers7031 if you compare him from his past he has grown. A lot of men think like him they just don’t admit it. But overall I do think he’s articulate, intelligent and his work ethic is admirable

    Boys look up to masculine men. It’s in our DNA, it helps boys grow into men. In a world full of broken homes, it’s why superhero’s and athletes have always been idolized. It would be cool to have claws like Wolverine or drive a Bugatti like Andrew Tate but it’ll never happen. Point is is that even though we may admire someone like this, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we will become this or that we even would want to. What it does is it gives boys something out of reach to strive for, a dangling carrot. If society doesn’t give weak boys any carrots, they’ll gravitate toward the most enticing one available. Not toxic, just the natural course of things.

    Very bias reaction which is fine it’s your pov but he attacks your profession by how he speaks so your gunna get defensive which fine and again it’s him talking about himself and your judging and name calling before even ten mins got to past on this interview his persona bothers you so for a psychologist your very bias with your analyzing of him terrible therapist from my pov nothing honest besides your dislike for him
