I know absolutely nothing about this documentary but I am very excited to watch it alongside you, Kirk! From episode one, I can tell that this mirroring exercise would be absolutely terrible for me. It would encourage my constant gut reactions to feel guilty and blame myself every time I start to be mad or frustrated with someone else, which is no good and I actively try to fight against daily! It's so frustrating to have a default reaction of believing myself to be in the wrong, or if I am hurt or let down in any way it is because I have failed and it would be rude to have any sort of emotional reaction directed at someone else. I understand that a degree of introspection or reframing in this way can be very helpful certain individuals, but this sort of practice would push me into depressive moods. I'm pissed off already that there were people in this community who were likely similar to me but with less awareness and experience in therapy to recognize how harmful it is for them.
Can't wait to see more from this documentary though 😭

For anyone who isn't aware- there is an excellent podcast about TFU that came out last year. It's just called Twin Flames. It's so good.
They even interviewed the guy who got a restraining order against Elle. They use a pseudonym for her since she did not participate the podcast but it's definitely Elle. His story is VERY different from hers- not in terms of the events that occurred necessarily- but each of them paint very different pictures of how those events played out. It was fascinating when I listened to it a year ago and it's even more fascinating now with this extra context.

Hmm... Sound s little like Scientology where they have people believe that everything bad that happens, or everything that effects then negatively, is because of something they did or what they believe in. There is this ex Scientology member. I think his channel is called 'Dazed But not Confused.' His entire channel is about his leaving Scientology and how the cult ruined his family and are still in control of a lot of his family members. I think he used to be an actor, but I am not super familiar with all American actors. Anyway, he talks about how some people left the cult of Scientology to start their offshoot cults which apply some of the same methods as Scientology. By the way, if Dr Kirk did an interview or collab with this guy who left Scientology, that would be a great episode I think.

    1. Is this statement true?
    2. Can I absolutely know that it’s true?
    3. How do I feel/react when I believe this thought?

Yeah I read about twin flames.. I had an old love interest try to pull this shit on me.. I can barely get on board with soul mates.. it’s all just so fucking absurd.. have you read the websites about twin flames.. it’s good for a laugh.. It’s just so crazy.. and they have things like the twin flame runner and all this crazy.. it’s totally just the most absurd shit.. it’s all feels very in the same thread as miss Cleo.. it gives me those kinds of vibes.. if that makes any sense.,

This comment sounds like it’s coming from an extremely judgemental, non spiritual and biased place. Which is to be expected if you barely can get on board with soulmates.
I can tell you that twin flames are 100% real. However, this twin flame universe stuff is garbage… same energy as an mlm. It is not what twin flame souls are about at all. Not everyone has a twin and not everyone is meant to be on that journey.

You think that only reason for not finding that button is marketing? Do you have enough evidence for such conclusion? For me, it sounds like reasoning when people say, that psychologists are not interested in making solutions for clients , because then they will loose income.

Lol, so you were meant to use mirror exercise on your POI (prsn of interest), love connection - for instance when they ghost you ignore you shun you block you lie to you etc, apparently they say you really are ignoring yourself and being clingy to poi to get their interest, you shunning yourself or ghosting yourself/not showing up for yourself, blocking yourself; from whatever areas of your life. Basically you’re abandoning yourself and when you feel their lack of presence, it means apparently you’re not showing up for yourself in some way and you need to, and that when you do finally show up for yourself (self-love, self respect, financial independence etc fixing those burdens) then you’re finally happy free, not pulling on poi energetically and apparently they sense this and return back to you wanting you back. That’s basically what the mirror exercise is. But I like your point about it being manipulation, because true love shouldn’t be conditional. If they hurt you, you’re allowed to feel hurt, sad and abandoned. They should still care enough to help you, love and support you instead of abandon you further and leave you to support yourself. As why would anyone give their best self to the very person who abandoned and hurt them. Saying I am mad at myself for rejecting myself is like dismissing how bad they treat you. Which is unacceptable.

I never liked the vibe from these two. I had no idea they were selling books and doing courses, they showed up on my UA-cam and I just didn't believe in them they didn't seem real and sincere to me...now I see my intuition was spot on....the twin flame thing real or not does feel real if you have issues with connection, it locks you into the belief that one sided love is normal and eventually the other person will be with you when you do your inner work... We all need to do inner work and some of us more than others and millions of us have no help with it outside our own heads so this type of community of people is vast and preyed upon.... Now I gave up with it and have a new addiction of playing a game. There are thousands of lonely people on this mobile game and they're spending $1000s on micro transactions mental health issues shine bright egos among the spenders are insanely huge arguments hate and love for people they have never seen the face of is everywhere. I've never played a game like this I kind of hate it and enjoy it at the same time. Haha.

I am sad that your discussion about how some things are outside of yourself. Like it’s not all “projection” or “victim mentality” honestly you need to make a debunking self help bromides. I laughed watching you twist yourself in a pretzel trying to make your anger at cable company work within this paradigm. Can you tell I’m mad at all the time I wasted listening to the recycled self-help industry making me over-responsible for things in my life?

The mirror here would be that you are upset because you don’t allow yourself to be like this company which only has its own self interest in mind. You even call it greed, which for them is just self interest, self protection etc; it also didn’t make sense to me either but now it does and when I don’t like something it’s usually because I don’t allow myself to behave in certain way; which is a good thing I think, you stick to your principles; I hope that makes sense
It’s basically OPPOSITE to what they say here. Because it is opposite to victim blaming :) I think my version is better although it can give excuses but it fights e.g. with bullying and acts of I call it selfishness. E.g. men often criticize women that they are too emotional and the mirror say: well because you don’t allow yourself to be emotional, once you are aware of that you will not see women as emotional anymore as if it’s bad, and you will have more compassion. The problem is with abuse - yeah, you don’t allow yourself (nor even want!) to be abusive as some people but there is good, logical reason why. Because we all know hurting others is like hurting us. And we are one.

Because many people fall for it.
You have to understand that the whole Twin Flame terminology is not limited to Jeff and Sheila, it is a whole belief created by new agers and many so called medium or tarot reader use it to scam people.
The more it gets exposed, the more it prevents people to get manipulated.
