I love it! I am completely in favor of painting French Provincial furniture, and have painted quite a few pieces over the years. Just a couple of years ago, I painted a French Provincial dresser and night stand a bright coral-pink, to use in my guest room. I painted the original hardware matte black. It may sound garish, but it is not; it is stunning. I think I saw the color scheme in a House Beautiful magazine and fell in love with it. The color matches back to the contemporary floral pattern on the duvet set that I found on Amazon, and the room looks like a million bucks. The soft gray of the walls tempers the bright color of the furniture and the room is actually calming, if you can believe that. I also painted my childhood French Provincial set sage green, for my daughters to use when they were growing up. In the original finish, the FP style looks dated to me, but interesting color modernizes pieces that might otherwise be thrown out. I wish I had a sprayer...you make it look so easy.
Cottagecore is a style that's on the rise, and I think this dresser would look beautiful in someone's cottagecore styled house. I just saw a picture of a cottagecore bedroom on Google images that had the door painted this same color. You did a great job, and the dresser looks perfect!
I didn't think I'd like it but I do. I think it is perfect for a room that doesn't have a specific decor as would be the case with a child's room. It is very nice and I added a couple of items to my wish list the - gilding wax. Nice tip.

Looks awesome. Two things regarding comments here: in Europe they call them Tallboys. My friend is from England and she calls her tall chest a tall boy not a highboy. Next it is French Provincial. To the person who said it was French Country - that is a decor style that incorporates both French Providential and rustic furniture. You were absolutely correct in your video Lauren.

It couldn't have come at a better time as we are in the process of remodeling my parents' old Adobe home and desperately need furniture to fill it and don't have the money to purchase new. Long story short, which paint and topcoat do you find easiest to use? I'm a 52 year old woman Marine veteran, and I've never done anything like this before . As excited as I am to try, I don't want to ruin the furniture. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Great work. I love FR Prov. I used to have all Ethan Allen Country French bedroom furniture, but didn’t have room for it with a divorce and move to a smaller (much smaller) home. Personally, I would like to have seen in a blush pink color for my own room and would have made the trip from WI to NE to pick it up. Since my BRs are only 10x10 with 9 ft ceilings the taller pieces work well for me. I recently purchased a FR Prov. piece that is a dining room storage piece in the natural FR prov. wood color. I use it for bed sheets and misc items in my BR. This is a beautiful piece, i hope it finds a happy home.

I have an interface pad for my Black & Decker mouse, Sander, and also one for my Bosch Orbital Sander. I know the surf prep is an amazing sander, probably the best a furniture restorer could hope for, but it's really expensive for someone just getting started, so I'm glad that you mention that the interface pads are available for other sanders as well. I think I paid $15 for the set I got for my mouse sander, and my Bosch Orbital came with it.
“Method to your magic” makes more sense 🤗 Have you ever had problems with the Bondo putty not hardening? I recommend keeping a log of how much you spend on each piece of furniture for tax purposes. Maybe give each unfinished piece a catalog number. ❤
