Thanks I'm a drummer 45 years and I recently started playing the guitar as well you seem like a good teacher after a day of playing "smells like teen spirit " I had that sucker down at this rate I'll probably have the guitar mastered in 6 months
Comprehensive! ALL Parts! +Plus Solo! As well as explained and demonstrated... THAT is how you do a Tutorial/Guitar lesson! :D Thank you so much for taking the time and putting this up for people to learn... GREAT video as well as how (if a person is going to do a Tutorial/Guitar Lesson) it show be done! Thank you so very much again! Cheers! :)
thank you sincerely for sharing this in a easy to learn way, explained very well. Second, ty for the lesson as you talked you didn't refer to Kurt in the passed tense, you talked it through as he was still with us. this keeps his music and inspiration alive. kudos to ya
Hey Carl, i would also like to make a suggestion for future songs :) You think it would be possible to do some intermediate - hard flamenco lessons ? For example something like Tamacun (Rodrigo y Gabriela) or Song of the Golden Dragon (Estas Tonne) ? That would be something completely different and i am sure there are plenty of people who would like to have some proper lessons for this style :)!
If you like Nirvana, check out the guy who inspired Cobain to pick up a guitar:Greg Sage of The Wipers.Cobain covered a few Wipers songs (Return of the Rat on 1992s tribute to Sage release, and D-7, among others).I promise you will be amazed.IMO, Sage is the premier songwriter/guitarist of the entire rock era.
+Supernova1987A yeah dude, the wipers are fucking amazing. their first 3 albums are all stone cold classics, and greg sage's guitar style was one of kurts biggest influences....kurt had his own unique style too though.....
+Supernova1987A yeah i recommend to anybody to buy the wipers box set (has their first 3 albums and many bonuses and b sides, etc.), u can find it for basically the price of a single album. the wipers are one of the greatest punk rock/post-punk/alternative rock bands ever, soooo good...
Riff at 3:10. I am hearing F F F E F F# Bend. When I did FFFF F# or 1,1,1,2,2 bend it didn't match. Didnt count out the power chords correctly, but FFF (Open E or Power chord 0-2-2) Back to the F power chord up to the F# power chord, bend where he says It matched well. It also seems to work with the part before the slide down to 6 and 4 power chords. Maybe I lost my hearing listening to metal but it fits with the teen spirit video.
2.28 I prefer that than bottom two on the first fret, saw vids of nirvana in concert and Kurt played it like this guy does not say other vids or wrong but this sounds better
thanks I can now play this song decently. PS for those of you who are hitting other strings then the one required-Just lay down your index finger on all the strings while pressing down on the 6th or 5th string(depending upon the chord). This would mute all the strings that are not to be played.
watch a lot of your cover thanks i' ve learn a lot can you do My Chemical Romance's the sharpest lives, welcome to the black parade, teenagers and dead covers not many great covers of this songs but when there is there's no free tabs. Ray and Frank really make great guitar soundtracks looking forward to any covers you make out the four , thanks
I learned it a lot different than this. I think my way is harder. Glad I watched this. I put the guitar down for quite a while and this makes me want to pick it back up.
The first one I could find that actually told me where the chords are instead of just the names, it’s great for beginners but it’ll take a bit of time to get down the right fingering.
By any chance could you tell me (if you know) what kind of pedal Kurt uses for the beginning and the solo, if you could that would be so helpful! Thanks!
This is kinda late but hopefully you see if you haven’t already found out. But for the intro distortion bit he’s using the BOSS DS-1 pedal and for the solo he’s using the Electro harmonix Small clone chorus pedal or both pedals together actually I believe
This comment might be a bit late, but in the solo going from D6 to D5 back and forth then you go to D3, what are you doing to the D5 to make the D5 to D3 transfer smooth? I missed that step
32400mario It's not the point anyway the thing is I know how to play and don't have the equipments .... Asia third world meaning poor economy plus poor people equals expensive things here...

This is one of the first songs I learned on guitar. Jen from Mahalo taught it. Seems like Carl used to be with them too.

any tips on how to get fingers strong and flexible enough for barre chords? they physically won’t bend like that and it’s really frustrating
Practice. There's no other way around. We all been there
You are one groovy man
is the open part at 2:16 the same riff but without the dead notes between the cords because it seems odd when i play it like that
Love you bro

I don’t know what the power cord is for this song
I agree

Your lessons are the best, I’d actually wanting to play the song correctly.
How do you manage to not strike any other strings when you're thrashing? I'm constantly hitting strings accidentally.
I know how to play but i don't have a guitar with amplifier and stuff I'm asian.
He's muting other strings with his fingers
+kurt ian rosaluna Lol! How does being Asian have anything to do with not having a guitar or equipment? Why should you feel entitled to that?
