Nike needs to control their product better. I get that boutiques gotta make their money by backdooring these pairs. People get tired of logging on SNKRS to constantly just take L’s which in turn might just send them to other brands. Just my two cents. ✌️
This is me. I’ve bought way more new balance this past year. I was tired of taking Ls and took a chance to try something different. Other brands are more available, around the same price point or cheaper, usually better quality and more comfortable.
I feel like it’s obvious. Kids got tired of being told no. They did what they were supposed to do, they saved up their money, they got on snkrs at 9:50 waited til drop, then entered just to get a sorry… not selected screen. Kids got tired of the exclusivity effect. So they said fook u Nike & they started going elsewhere to get their kicks. Between Nikes limited releases, Travis Scott & trophy room backdooring pairs, they’ve made it clear to kids, they don’t want u to have our products!
Yo UNC, great video. Gotta admit, I'm one of those that wants all the old stuff (dunks, Jordan 1, etc). Imo, a lot of the new stuff is over the top for me, like they are trying to hard (if that makes sense). For example, DN has a couple colors that are cool, but in reality how would I ever wear a pair, the lines just dont seem clean, so back to what works! But to be honest even the old stuff seems very repetitive recently. Similar colors so no reason to spend (or stupid expensive)!
Im a runner and i used to use nike trainers but last 2-3 years they are rubbish. Uncomfortable, rubbing and my first 2 pairs i started with in 2018/19 were fantastic. Bought 4 new pairs but now have given up on them. Sure they make nice looking shoes. But if they don't do what they say they can do then goodbye..
U hit on all the issues. It’s truly a lack of super dope design and innovation. Throwing supreme on a turd brings the hypebeasts to the front but then when the GR drops is just turds nobody wants. I like the 4RM but mainly the Bike air version bc the solid colorways are good. The all cream joints are nice too but women’s and I’m an 11. The other colorways are mid at best. They need to tap into their most loyal consumers and find out what we want more of or it’ll be more sale racks for them.
Issue with the two models you mainly discussed… you were able to show a scroll of like 30 colorways of the DN. That’s WAYYYYYYY too many for the short amount of time since they first dropped. And the RMs… they dropped one that was seemingly limited n those flew. But then they dropped another 4-6 colorways asap. Since when is that what makes a model move? That is not how u capitalize off of hype. N it’s not how they used to do it.
Since everyone is a Kobe fan why not make them no so limited it may build hype but not everyone is a hype beast I’m huge Kobe fan so making them so limited is frustrating Unk
Because there’s really not that many Kobe fans. Nikes scaled back production on them and we can already see them starting to sit. The days of Kobe’s at the outlets will return again soon.
Unc. Here's my 2 cents. First the DN's problem is just about the entire shoe had a derivative cloned look of other running shoe brands including their own and why are they all in fly knit no leather no suede plus it's got air max in the name and it's not as cool as any air max 95? NO 97 ? Hell NO, 90 ? NO The 4 RM ain't a bad shoe I like the black/bone on the Nike site but most people would rather get a real 4
Whoever is responsible for the Jordan 4RM should be fired immediately. There’s absolutely NOTHING appealing about that shoe. The DN is actually a great shoe, but it’s an Air Max. They’ve always been great shoes for most part over the years but none have ever flown off the shelves outside of collabs or limited runs. I think a lot of folks are sick & tired of taking Ls on SNKRS and Nike for shoes that everyone should be able to cop. They do everything you’re supposed to do to snag a shoe & still get the “sorry” screen. Whereas New Balance & Asics are not only putting out some heat. You can ACTUALLY get your hands on almost all of em for retail no less. I’m a Nike guy through & through. But I’ve bought the same shoes, just different colorways for YEARS. Air Max 86, 90, 95. AF1 a few OG Jordan 4 with Nike Air on heel, some Kobe’s, TONS of SB. The newest shoe Nike has made that I’m remotely interested in is the Vamero 5 & DN. Heck the V5 is 15 years old. I did snag my first New Balance last month but it was a collab & similar to an SB so nothing too major. But the ASICS & New Balance I keep seeing, combined with the pricing & availability are making it harder & harder not to cop to try something new. I use the word “new” loosely cause a lot of the New Balance we see & tons of Asics we see have been around for YEARS. Just tons of new colors are here now & few new models. Combine that with hype from youngins & folks being sick of Nike’s hassle to get a shoe & BOOM you’ve got the next big trend….RUNNERS

Take as old as time sadly
Actually most other brands are cheaper

Great points. NB and ASICS put minimal efforts into marketing like Nike does and are having more success.
Good looks on the snkrs Kobe day info. Was able to 👮🏽♂️ a men’s reverse grinch 💪🏽
Congrats fam!

I agree on the DN. Def feels like they’re trying to push it too hard and make something out of nothing
@@unclechrissy and (IMO) so many shoes that are like, "ehh, that is nice, but is it really worth $125+"
$125 is cheap for Nike these days 😞
@@unclechrissy sad but true!!

I admire what they did with the RM but replaying the same old playbook isn’t moving units

Great point. Too much too soon
Kids these days don’t care about kicks or hype at all, the wear crocs and and flip flops.
Is it that they don’t care about hype or are different products hype these days?
Sup Unk ! 👊👑👌
I think dropping all 3 RM 4s on the same day was a mistake
Agreed 1000000%

Yea they seemed lost last year. But i'm willing to bet that this tune changes after holiday 2025
I dunno. All of the retros coming next year are starting to feel like overkill

Hmm…you think calling it the AM24 would’ve helped?
@@unclechrissy They could put AM on some LA Gear sneakers and the sheep would flock

Great insight. The best part is that NB and ASICS likely spend light years less on marketing than Nike
