- I made a short video reviewing the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tire. They are 245/75R16, on a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban.
I have been VERY pleased with them so far. - Авто та транспорт
Great review for us regular people that just want a good tire for all around everyday use thank you
Nice, helpful, concise review. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video, thank you for the review.
Solid review, one of the best I’ve seen. I bought a set of 31x10.5 r15’s for my Dakota and they’re great! I’d highly recommend these tires
Thank you!
should i get these for KO2? i dont mind the tire noise; but which one RIDES better on the road.
I just ordered a set of this tires after running on bfgoodrich km, how do you like them? Is the milage holding well on the treads?
Thank-you for the review Gary! We have a 97 K2500 Suburban and we are tire shopping right now. We are going with the Duratracs load range E. The tire places are sticky around here for downsizing load ranges. Its a liability thing and we understand.
Good to hear! don't forget to check my rotation updates, I try to provide as much information as possible regarding the life, quality, and performance of the tires.
good choice in tires i have them on my 94 suburban 4x4
I own the exact same tire on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler 25575R17 They are excellent for off-roading never let me down. They are also fairly quiet on the highway compared to an actual mud terrain tire. There are three years old and have 53,800 miles on them. I still have 11/32 seconds of an inch of tread left brand new they were about 18_32 seconds. When I replace these I will be going with a 33 inch diameter Wrangler DuraTrac.
James Bonanno good to hear! I have no doubt that I could have gotten close 50k of not more out of them.
Pretty good review man! I just ordered a set of those tires, for my jk after the factory bfgoodrich km tires didnt last me no more than 40 thousand miles! They are only good if you do a lot of offroading, but not so good on the pavement! Hopefully this new duratrac's gives me some more milage than the last set! Ohh i paid for mine 185 dollars each from discount tires, for the set of 4 plus the spair, and im getting a 145 dollars rebate from goodyear after intallation. I think thats a bargain!
Great to hear!
Dude good thing you went with the duratrac. I went with the authority and they are loud as hell on the road they are almost like a mudd tire which makes them look pretty cool but they are rough. Next set I'm getting duratracs.
Imabeast191 Good to hear! I would go with the Duratracs too!
Nice got a set of 315/75R16 on my Ram. 700 miles now and liking them so far. I can't hear the tires at all over my v10 and the dual exhaust. Looks good on there gives the burban an aggressive look.
Thank you! I have been very impressed with them, at this point I am wondering why I spent so many years not buying these tires
Good review buddy
Thank you!
Got mine tire kingdom tire size 245/75r16 Toyota Tacoma 2017 good year wrangler dura trac i love my tires...
Great tires mine are 275 70 r18
I run duratracs in a wheeling format. I live in alberta canada and out winters are brutal they held up great even on a 2 door wrangler. Any way after a few side wall punctures and cuts I realized the side walls are like butter . Amd those little treads inside the groove is called tractive groove. They are not for "ejecting rocks" they are for dirt mud and deep snow for added traction.. when sub merged. I found the speed howl gets worse as they wear when new they are not bad at all.
+kenneth Price-Jones Yep, that's what worries me. Do you have C or E rated tires?
+Steph N e rated I believe I could be wrong though I would have to have another look. I know they are the big rating.
+kenneth Price-Jones that's a bummer that the sides are so weak. If they'd go back to three ply or kevlar, I'd bet they'd have a home run with these things.
+Steph N great tire these are 10 ply tires but the compound they use is soft but yeah Kevlar would have been s great idea
Im getting these in a few days. I was torn between these or general grabber at2. Do you think i made a good choice?
Anonymous Anonymous I think that either would be a good tire. I like these because they do a good job of cleaning mud and snow from the tread. My next set may be the Grabbers just because I hear so much about them.
Gary Burrus the tire guy said he doesnt recommend the duratracs, because they wear down fast. But you say otherwise, and also every internet search i do for best aggressive a/t tire, duratracs are always mentioned the most.
Anonymous Anonymous I heard that a lot, but I have over 40,000 miles on mine and they're still good. Rotations and proper air pressure are the key to making tires last a long time.
Gary Burrus thanks. I have hankook dynapro atm now. But i want these more aggressive looking tires.
Anonymous Anonymous These are MUCH better than the Hankooks. I've had those in the past, and I will never buy them again.
Are these LT or P tires? Load rating? (P=SL standard load LT=load C or E)
They are LT C load. They do make an E, but that was too much for my needs.
1/2 ton pickups passenger tire is enough not LT.
Are these two ply sides? I really like these tires except for that. Shame, they used to come in 3 ply sidewalls, a few years back. Lots of reports with flats and blowouts... anyone know if the E has a stronger side than the C? Goodyear couldn't tell me.
+Steph N Load Range C is the light-duty LT tire that Goodyear offers. They are a 6 ply tire. The E load range is a 10 ply tire. If you're not towing or off roading a lot, the 10 ply will give you a very harsh ride. The C is good for all around use.
Nothing comes in a 3 ply, the lightest duty, which is P-metric is a 4 ply. These offer the best ride, but they are not designed for heavy towing or off roading.
+Gary “GeekDad” Burrus But will the E's will have a stiffer sidewall? The 10 ply has to do with the tread, not side. That's what the tire shop told me yesterday. I wanted to compare the C and E but they had none. Will an E rated tire help better protect a pothole/branch from puncture? My Rubicon jeep came with MTRs E rated and rode great. A quick search, there's so many reports of sidewall punctures and flats from these tires even on pavement! If the E's will be more durable on the sides, then I might feel better to go with those. If not it's the KO2 because of sidewall protection.
+Steph N The ply rating has to do with the overall "layers" or plys in the tire. The link below has an image, scroll toward the bottom. Tread depth is the "height" of the tread. For example, these tires are 17/32" of an inch "tall". In theory, the E rating should help with punctures. Whether or not it does with these, I can't say. I know that a lot of people have complained about that issue, but I don't do any heavy off roading, so it didn't concern me. I haven't had any issues with sidewalls at all.

To me it seems the 10 ply E would be for tread but not sides as it shows in the link/pic. I think the sides would be the exact same.
E rated tires which are rated at 10ply are actually less ply but radial plies are stronger then bias plies. Yes the E tire is a 2 ply polyester sidewall. The tires are rated at 10 ply but are overall 8ply. Ply rating is tread 2 ply steel 2 ply nylon 2 ply polyester and sidewall 2ply polyester.
I never knew they come with white letters. No more $170, now Walmart sells them for over $200!
Yep, that's why I went with the Falkens. I bought new tires AND wheels for less than it would have cost me for just the Goodyears. I have reviews of those tires as well :)
How long did they last?
They had just over 40,000 miles on them when I sold the Suburban. I don't recall the tread depth, but there was still quite a bit of tread left.
Has anyone had an issue with these tires smelling like burning rubber a few weeks after installing?
That would be an alignment issue
Yes i have
Damn, my f350 teacher get these tires, they're 238 a piece. How'd you get that price?
+KM L (KLsemperFi7) They are probably running the "E" load range, which is a 10-ply tire and usually does cost more. The size also plays a part in cost.
E load range is about $235 and the C load range is about $186 or so depending on location. At our Walmart the E tires are $200 (Indiana).
Tire Rack has these in E rating for 198 and comes with a 50 dollar rebate from GoodYear. If you use your GoodYear credit card you get 100 rebate.
Would you buy them if you didn't live on dirt roads
Probably not. They are way too much tire if they are going to be highway only. I would recommend a M&S HT tire, or something less aggressive.
I love these tires , but your comments about Walmart had me pissing my pants laughing. This tire in an E rating is almost 200 dollars.
Big Chili Rango 01 The price has gone up substantially with these! I'll be making another video soon, I went with a different brand because these are so expensive now. I feel that it's because they are more popular, and if you notice GM is using them as OEM tires on their pickups.
Goodyear is an AMERICAN company and the tires are made in USA.
The duratraks are made in Canada 👍🏻
You are correct, I discovered this once I got the tires but I’m okay with that. Better than made in China👍🏻
@@rayf982 absolutely I love mine and besides who would know snow type tires better than maple heads aaaa😂👍🏻
All I heard was the WIND!
get your ears checked
+David Millan checked..... passed with flying colors....
+Wayne Winton Clearly you didn't...
e rated
These are m &s not AT tire . Great tire tho ,used it on my Jeep and they hold up well and off road . Little noise on highway . Good deal
The authority tires are way better in all the conditions you experience
I was going to go with them as they were cheaper, however, they were sold out at the time. That's why I went with these.
That sucks
You cruise down the highway at 70-80 mph? I'm going to tell Obama.
tisoy909 yep, our speed limit is 80 mph on the interstate
Now that you've had them for some time. I bet you hate them like everyone else. The wet traction is NONE.
i wonder. they dont talk much about wet road traction
+gol10dr45
I haven't noticed any adverse capability with them in wet weather. I drive both asphalt. concrete, and dirt roads, and I have been pleased with them.
+gol10dr45 My 285/70r17 duratracs are great on wet roads. You on crack?
+gol10dr45 I have 21K on my set and still love them. And no, they aren't the best in heavy rain, but it has a tread similar to a mud tire and ANY mud tire will not be the best in heavy rain.
+gol10dr45 Way to show you don't have a clue wtf you are talking about. After 4 sets now, in all driving conditions they are hands down the best all around tire out there. Have never had a flat, they are as good as bfg mts offroad and they are incredible in the winter. Not to mention i got 106 000 km out of my last set. You have obviously never even ran a set of duratracs and probably hate them because your brother daddy does
These have been he worst set of tires I have ever owned. My wife asked me to get cheaper tires because I've always had BFG Mud Terrains. So I did and they didn't wear evenly (yes I rotated them) and one or two had a spot at 50mph the truck would shake. And they've only lasted about 45k miles. Back to the BFG's.
Well obviously they will last a little less than a mud terrain due to the softer rubber
I find it strange to read comments like this because my experience as well as the majority of others is the opposite. Maybe you got a bum set or maybe your vehicle geomoetry doesn't agree with them or maybe you just went into it with the wrong expectations.
Don't go on any muddy, or soft trails, they are worthless and you'll bury your truck. Plus they are noisy on the road. Wasn't impressed at all.
I have over 25,000 miles on mine at this point, and they have been fine in mud, and soft gravel. Our roads are horrible when we get a lot of rain, and I haven't had any issue with them. Of course, different vehicles, different tire sizes, and different situations will be different for everyone.
The noise hasn't been any worse for me than any other A/T tire, and they are less noisy than M/T tires.
The only deficiency so far has been snow. Once the siping wore down, they have been horrible in any snow.
Lol no one listen to this fool. Idiot
This guy says there ok in mud but not a mud tire which makes sense.
ua-cam.com/video/32RLuzD5tbg/v-deo.html
Gary Burrus I agree with you I have had them in my jeep with mud and water up above the exhaust and they got me out no problem. They are amazing I have 23,000 miles on them with lots of abuse off road and still have above 75% tread
I don't think Debbie Janssen has ever owned Wrangler DuraTracs, if that's the review she gives. I honestly think that was nothing but a troller. I am on my second set. First set went 72,000 miles and I couldn't have been happier with their on-road and off-road performance.
