- This is the rcvideoreviews.com maiden flight of the X-UAV X8 Skysurfer. I've built this kit as a proximity FPV plane for fun at the park. I'm using a Turnigy 2826 2200kv brushless motor, 40a ESC, 6x4 APC prop, and a Multistar 5200mah 10c 3s battery. For hand launch: Power @ 40% and throw it like throwing a football. Put enough on it to make a 30 yard pass.

I was build my Sky Surfer from kit set with Racestar BR2212 2200 kV and APC 6x4 propeller, 30A ESC. Total weight of this plane after reinforcement is about 900- 905 grams and still the power of motor is really big. The plane is still going almost verically to the sky on max throttle!

what is the equipment list for camera and receiver?
I used an L9R RX and a $20 CCD 600TVL Camera I found on Amazon or GetFPV. Nothing particularly interesting about either one. I prefer CCD for FPV feeds. Some swear by CMOS.
man thats a big battery you use... i use 3 or 4s in gliders i owned that size...
Yeah, I fly this FPV for 30 minutes or so. It's only 3s, just 5000mah. And it's actually very small for a 5000.
Can this run 4s? Or overkill with 4s?
It could be run with 4s if you have a 4s esc, use a smaller prop, and be prepared to rebalance. I don't see much reason for it given what this plane does with the 3s battery.
