"Free" is kinda stretching it... They just make money in a different way than charging for the view directly. The fact that you're blatantly saying that you let him go off on his own because he wanted to get E85 and you didn't want to be slowed down.... that hurt. Seeing as he was there for you when your tires popped he drove five hours for that and he waited while you recharged. That's just messed up Thorn 🤣🤣🤣😂😂
I think for all that he had to go through helping out with the tesla and the recharging, I would say the cheating he did for the race should be forgiven for that since he probably could have been massively ahead if he didn't wait for recharges or help with the tire swap

Love the series but I would also love to see a road trip with a 2020 Tesla Model S Long Range Raven vs a 2020 Honda Civic Touring. 2 great cars with excellent range and mileage and modern technology.

I think a Model 3 LR would be a closer comparison as price difference is less, may be even midrange or SR+, for the sake of price, but 3 LR would make the most sense.

Yes it does, atleat until you hit 85%or so then it slows down a bit. The new ones can go up to a 1000mph charge rate!

32:18 You'd think Tesla would use stainless steel on anything that's going to see weather. That magnet for the charging door should be oiled regularly if it's going to rust up like that. Gotta say, it threw me off seeing rust on a Tesla, even if it is only a little spot of light surface rust.

So, in order to make a Tesla appear viable, you have to compare it to basically the most compromised gasoline powered car you can find that is barely street legal.... if it it.

@@GraveUypo The thing is, Tesla's do just fine on road trips. We've driven my brother's Model S from North Carolina to Texas and it was like a normal trip, generally speaking. The time to charge didn't affect us since we used it to eat or bathroom breaks. All told, it took an average of 38 mins to charge every 4 hours of driving. So it did take a little longer but it wasn't as big deal as some people are making it.
Not only that, road trips only take up about 10% American's time annually. Which means the other 90%, gas takes longer due to charging at home.
I'll take 90% shorter time over 10% longer any day.

If they took the same route. Gas cars will always win. It just doesn't take long to fill your tank with gas. Also if it was a tdi Volkswagen they would get over 650 miles per fill up and would have won the races without even trying.

Glad you did the oil change dynamic. When I first got a Tesla, my brother said he would race me across the county. I said I would win because he would need to stop and get his oil changed. 😁
Good for a laugh, but unfair comparison, Tesla is not a race car...Imagine a Tesla race car and then filming this all over again .
What makes me laugh is when a tesla owner gets upset they'll just mash the pedal and it takes off in silence. And nobody cares to look or dont notice it.
