Her voice just makes you want to listen to more!! There's a lot of people that can sing. But to have that catchy voice that makes people want to listen more is what separates you from just another singer. Which sadly not every singer has.

[11:43] it's totally natural to hear a voice with reverb. Every space sounds different. Reverb allows you to 'create' a space. It's still her. Unless you were in an anechoic chamber, you will never 'not' hear reverb. You might want to hear her sing in an 8'x10' concrete dorm room with no processing, but I sure don't, not on youtube, anyway.

13:06 I studied music and singing and worked as a graphic designer at a recording studio. I had the privilege of watching and listening recordings of celebrity singers take place. Yes, I recognize her voice is being enhanced by reverb, but she has an amazing voice with or without reverb. Calling her voice “photoshopped” is not a fair characterization. It’s not the same to have Photoshop take off 100lbs to have Photoshop make lipstick a tiny touch glossier. The amount of “Photoshop” in this case is so minimal that it is negligible. To all the haters, record yourself with reverb and see if you can match this output. 😉 She is truly amazing with or without that touch of “makeup.”
I’m not a music person, I am a photographer. I can totally relate to the comparison of Photoshop part of what you said. She’s got another song out that I’d like to hear you critique. Great job!!!
I’m glad someone finally talked about the processing that’s going on during this recording. She has a great singing voice but it’s being altered with the tech.
She had 25 record companies reach out to her because of this video. The Jonas Brother's dad became her agent, and signed her to their label. She did a song with David Guetta that went worldwide. Pretty sure she doesn't need much overwrought advice.
Do you still give lessons? And do you do personal video reviews? I am not a professional, but I wouldn't mind sounding like one lol. ( nevermind I finally found it in the description box... after overlooking it twice)
I learned many things he says her about 50 years ago. I was chosen to be a member of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Chorus. Went on tour to NY and sand in ?Carnegie hall when I was 20, in 1975. Can someone please tell me what microphone she uses?
She does have an Acoustic Guitar version of the same song without all the "bedazzle" search "Lanie Gardner singing Dreams (Acoustic Guitar)"
This guy seems like a little jealous, and is poop pooing on her! He hates the 14 million views! Just my opinion! She sounds great!! This guy just seems to be capitalizing on her success! What do y'all think? Not saying this guy cant sing, probable can, but I never heard of him! Whatcha think?
She has a hevenly voice to be listening to all day long
13:06 I studied music and singing and worked as a graphic designer at a recording studio.
Excelente comentario. Análisis justo.
Awesome
Analysis. I hope
You get much more viewership!
I think her mom would tell you differently.
I tell this to confirm what I am hearing here, starting with relaxing the jaw and dropping the jaw, is correct technique. I have never heard of this young man but he is teaching this correctly.
While he is artificially processing his own voice? Irony at its finest.
This guy is way off.... She is Amazing!
Great analysis of the recording.
I believe she sang it in studio, and made then a video where she made a playback from
1:54-> Sam stunned out of his mind. Priceless reaction.😆 Lanie's cover is BETTER than the original if we are being honest.
I love your breakdown of this because I felt the way you said prior to watching your video. I knew it was a prerecorded take. What I wondered was the added ons
Such an amazing voice, liked it more than the original one. I am going to another video so I dont hear all the negative comments
Sam, I love your videos, and I was thinking THE EXACT SAME THING when you talked about photoshopped bodies that we're led to believe are "human". I completely agree with you, it's important to know what's natural and what's not, not to say which is best, but to not be fooled. (I hope I'm making sense, English isn't my first language :) )
Agreed we live Society obsessed with perfection and unfortunately we have this distorted idea of what we want instead of embracing what we have.
