Fix or Replace Lawn Mower Fuel Gauge

Easy, quick video of replacing the fuel gauge in a scag freedom. This should work on any riding lawn mower. Cheers!

Thanks, my Simplicity gauge is the exact same, now we know how to pop it out, see what's going on, mine is stalled on the 3/4 position or so, might just be stuck on the slides.

The float somehow loses its buoyancy. I had same issue. Took it out and it worked fine in bucket of water but not in container of fuel.

Ethane gas ruins the float so it won’t float in gas - will float in water

My freedom Z doesn't have a fuel guage. Do they have one that can be installed?

I have a Scag Tiger Cat 2 and had the same problem last weekend. How did you figure out which other brand gauges were compatible? The only one I can find anywhere is the Scag brand one that costs $90.

Yea the name brand stuff is priced ridiculous. I got this off brand here and it works great

​@@hammershomerenoyou got that right. I just did a full service new plugs, NEW carb, vanguard Briggs oil and filter, the gas gauge, air filter, and 2 coils for under the price of a briggs carb. By the looks of it briggs makes all these gauge for most tractors. My simplicity called for the same P/N

If it gets a pin hole and fills with gas it will not float

I have read that using E-10 instead up full unleaded gas is what leads to the failure. Not sure if true, but would make sense to me. I’ve gone full unleaded and haven’t had an issue since
