    Just a hint that I realized while fixing a chair leg recently, it's easier to use zip ties than clamps especially if you're using soft material

    I’ve seen you do this several times. I was doing a chair for a client that was missing one of three rungs on the back. It was cost prohibitive to take it to a local carpenter to make a new one. So, I bought a dowel of the appropriate size, made a mold from one of the existing spindles, filled the mold with Bondo, then squeeze the mold tight around the dowel, taped it well, and let it dry. Well to my surprise, after filling and sanding, it was perfect! The client couldn’t tell which was originally missing! Thank you so much for letting us in on a doable way to make repairs.

    Before adding bondo to the glue mold. Coat with Vaseline (petroleum jelly or cooking spray, like pam)

So satisfying haha. I can't wait until I have a project I can try this little winner on! Exciting, cool, amazing!! Nobody would believe it if they didn't see it haha! This is great! But what did you do with the nails that were sticking out?

    • @VintageAndPainted
      @VintageAndPainted  Рік тому +1

      Well bc they were at an angle I didn't have to do anything they are concealed inside the bondo. If they were sticking out too far then the mold would not have gone on correctly and it would have been at that time I would have trimmed the nails back. Hope that makes sense.
