Hi Phil Great that started well pleased for you buddy i have just picked up the next wrecks to riches car 4 all locked up no keys so hopefully that runs that st will take some work putting it back on the road but you will do a amazing job as always mate that steering wheel cut is how it got stolen
Hi Phil. Great as always. I've found it easier when doing inner cv boot to knock off outter with boot. Then you can slide inner boot on. Alot quicker buddy 👍👍. Love the stretcher part. Brilliant 🤣👍
Hi Phil. what a nightmare fitting the boot. In my day I bought a Boot which was slice/split from end to end. You just had to wrap it over the shaft and use the supplied Glue to join the split. Then place Jubilee on each end. Job done. 👍 See you in the next one.
Phil, you've come a long way from your early days up on the moors, and then in the dimly lit cow shed. Subs are steadily rising. You've managed to get a much bigger workshop, and many subscribers were pleading with you to get a lift which you've installed. Maybe it's time to consider adding a hydraulic scissor lift (many of which can be easily moved around) to get round the bind of having an immobile car stuck on the lift awaiting parts when needing to do jobs on other vehicles. Just a thought, but it might be one worth considering. More power to your elbow and all the hard graft you've been putting is noticeble with the increasing numbers of different cars you're working on. 👍👍
Hi Phil, on the CV boot stretcher you have to buy stretchy cab boots for them to work with the stretcher. Euros will do them not to more expensive than normal ones. Makes the job 100x easier 👍 … or just buy normal ones and boil the kettle and let it soak in the water
Hard plastic boots are not stretchy Phil.... they do however sell stretchy boots. Them boot expanders work well with the stretchy rubber boots, I have used one for years.
Hi Phil I take my hat off to you your doing an amazing job on that car.p.s.love the cv boot stretcher scene about as much use a chocolate fire guard lol keep up the good work😀🏴
Great result with the 🔑 and it running OK. Let's hope you don't find any more faults with it. I think this is going to be a fantastic car when finished.
Hi from durham phil👋👍 great job getting fezzy running and pleased it went well 👌 tho you need 2 things mate a bigger hammer and vice in set as am sorry but it was painful to watch you with driveshaft mate😂 but yeah they horrible to do full stup just done one on transit mate and apart from the main end the bit inside the ring had to cut each ball bearing out individually before removing cap then cut it off the spine on shaft 😢💪 not a job for faint hearted I say but even bigger hammer and chisel couldnt help me 👌 lol great show tho mate hope alls well 👍 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon 👍👋
Phil , plastic boots will not stretch , the inner boot as hopefully you have now discovered is a special CV boot , with 3 slots for the shaft to sit inside , there will be nothing wrong with your new CV boot stretch tool , you just need to use it in outer CV boots that are stretch type , you can buy stretch boots on line at J & R driveshafts at Birmingham , hope you are learning as you go along , our job is not easy , and we all learn new skills every day , try wearing gloves when working on dirty jobs , take your time and you should be ok 👍
Phil, tapping away with the hammer then the guy in the blue coveralls appears and hey presto the jobs done, did he come with the new driveshaft boot kit. Remember those words "plain sailing from here on" great vid.
That tripode joint was giving you some jip, after the circlip is removed they usually surrender without too much bother.. but, there is always the exception to the rule. And you got the bugger in the end.
The last inner CV boot I did was claimed to be a stretch boot, like foxtrot was it. I ended up taking the shaft apart. Like you, I ended up in a right mucking fess
For the sump it's best to put long headless bolts in to align the sump home accurately. Put the normal sump bolts in and take out the headless bolts out.
Great that it starts and seems to run ok. Quite a lot of mechanical componnents have needed replacing on this one which has added to the costs, but has you say you are never going to know exactly what you are dealing with on a salvage car until it arrives! Definitley getting there now - be interesting to know the final repair costs on this one.
Loved the driveshaft. Only thing I have anywhere near as messy recently is swapping out Hydraulic oil in the lever of my mountain bikes seat post (i have had grease to do on headsets, axles, etc. previously. Fortunately I had some disposable gloves to reduce the mess, but I can bet the grease from that was ... lovely! Ps - got to love cheap costco yellow rags!!
Phil, You were using your own tool incorrect, the boot goes on the spreader small hole first lol.....also you need a copper mallet mate, you cant go and hammer bearings and driveshaft threaded ends with a hardened steel hammer and expect the parts to be in good condition after, get yourself a little parts washer basin for the corner of the garage too mate. I really think it was your own improper use of the stretcher that made you go through what you had to do. Im not sure why the sump replacement wasnt the first job you did before putting all the bottom end back on?? That was quite painful to watch hahahahah lol
Phile that cv boot expander. If maybe you had it up against the bearings (that you stripped) would that be enough to stop it flying off and then going over the bearings ?
Another great video. I know you are open to new ideas, have you though about a brief voice over covering the time lapse, just describing each bit you are doing? ( I have seen it in other UA-camrs time lapse and it is effective
Mate not being rude but the wind is really loud you should use expanding foam on the walls. That will be a nice video. For all of us to see how you do it.
Hi Phil not long started watching your videos which are great. Just watched the astra gtc video with the broken timing belt and you mentioned at the beginning the letters after the lot number. Could you tell me please if you don't mind what they all mean please. Thanks
about time the 20k give away was done .... i've not entered so no vested interest from me but it's almost like he's stretching it out to get more subs !
U have done a good job Phil, but I think you have way over paid on parts. Should of gone and collected from local breakers murrays in Huddersfield, lads in Leeds u used for the last white one. You would of saved probable £400
Time to invest in fabrication of work bench with a quality vice on another pair of safe clamping hands I have always used a nylon cheater cone for cv boots those tools where 250 quid when I saw them years ago don't you need to use a special stretchy boot with them. Not a oem replacement? Did you have it around the wrong way anyway when you expended it it shot off so quick You will win at the end Talking of winners. Whom got lucky and got the battery super capacitor booster? 😁
Phil I seen videos on UA-cam where they change a st2 or non cruise control steering wheel to a cruise control steering wheel. Seeing you have to buy a steering wheel anyway does this open your options ?
Hi Mark, yes I will. Some has already asked and will be given first chance but I'll let you know aswell price when it's done. I think we have spoken by email before haven't we?
@@SeriousAboutSalvage yes Phil I live in Halifax I nearly bought the blue fiesta St and the white fiat sport, and was intrested in the white focus st, we messaged through Instagram but I don't go on there that oftan

Hi Mark , I'm looking forward to the wrecks 4 riches car , Phil u do a great job really well explained too 👍
good job phil youre still working hard as usual :}
Wow, I’m impressed, despite the heavy collision it endured, it started straight away, hopefully there won’t be any more hidden damage!❤️.
Was in tears with the CV boot stretcher😂
Great result Phil hoping things go smooth through the rest of the build👍
Lovely Jubbly, a really great long video enyoyed very much Phil good luck with finishing this one of.
Hi Phil. Great as always. I've found it easier when doing inner cv boot to knock off outter with boot. Then you can slide inner boot on. Alot quicker buddy 👍👍. Love the stretcher part. Brilliant 🤣👍
Well done Phil.
Glad you showed things that don't go straight forward. Must invest in gloves.
Fantastic Phil ,but I bet your heart was in you mouth when you pressed that button,I’m very pleased for you. ,

Glad it runs, I was not convinced it would!
Well done Phil. The car is going to be a good buy . Keep up the good work 👍👍
the cv boot you took off was rubber the one put on was plastic that's why it would not stretch over the tool
A relief when it starts for the first time after that amount of damage
Keep on hearing a peacock in the background,,, there again I might be cracking up🏴👍😄
I have the same cv boot tool, the bailcast one,it’s a brilliant tool, you need to use the proper boots with the tool
Hi Phil, on the CV boot stretcher you have to buy stretchy cab boots for them to work with the stretcher. Euros will do them not to more expensive than normal ones. Makes the job 100x easier 👍 … or just buy normal ones and boil the kettle and let it soak in the water
"we've come a long way in this video" :) I think that was you, all I did was avidly watch. Great work Phil, very pleasantly carried out. Cheers!
Great progress buddy well done. Enjoyed watching it.

Hi Phil , what a nightmare that drive shaft c.v. boot was. You might be able to get some money back on that crappy tool and sell it to a midwife !
Really need to be using nitrile gloves Phil, at least for the greasy stuff, if not all the time.
Be worth getting a wash station for proper clean up.

Great vid Phil, vino in hand watching a master at work.Beats watching that sugar on tv any day 👍
They are not called pumps Phil they are known as A/C compressors ,great content , very enjoyable
Phil, tapping away with the hammer then the guy in the blue coveralls appears and hey presto the jobs done, did he come with the new driveshaft boot kit. Remember those words "plain sailing from here on" great vid.
Hey Phil, great video. You need to use stretchy cv boot kits with your cv boot stretcher. Keep them coming 👍
Love watching your videos keep them coming 👍👍your very knowledgeable

Great video Phil it's coming on nicely.
Good progress Phil 👍👍
great fiesta video mate looks going be a good car in the end
Hi Phil great video PMSL At boot stretcher you need to use Bailcast boots with the boot stretcher as they are made with a more elastic rubber .
What a great video phil loads done hope the rest will a bit easy for you well done mate👏👏👏
Sorry I had to laugh about your new tool (c.v. boot stretcher) anyone for badminton... lol
Done a cracking job so far 👌 👍
It's probably already been said, but you need to use a specific type of CV boot to use that tool with.
Philosophical Phil. If it needs it change it. 😉👍

Shame you couldn't get a fast road cat in there. But all great progress. 👍
Looks like kitt with top of steering wheel cut off 😂 👍
Nice to hear it run m8 will make a good car after you have finished it 👍
Great work mate.
Surely new driveshaft cheaper. You gotta watch secondhand prices on ebay phil
You ok Phil, not heard owt for ages now ?
Should you not put the car down before nipping the control arms up? Just to save twisting bushes. Good job it’s flying

Good work but cant help thinking a decent work bench and vice is in order.
What became of the Audi v10?
Great video Phil 👌
hi phil did you buy stretch boots they sometimes come with a cone to fit them
Get some gloves Phill when doing them!!!!!

Phew, big result there mate
U have done a good job Phil, but I think you have way over paid on parts. Should of gone and collected from local breakers murrays in Huddersfield, lads in Leeds u used for the last white one. You would of saved probable £400
you really should invest in some impact sockets and did you check the diff for that missing/broken bit off the cv joint
yes Phil 3 out of 4 Festas' started good for you 😎👨🔧🔑
Hi you need a stretchy boot rubber as well not a stock one .
Great progress Phil!! By the way what is going on with the Mini? Did you decide if you want to rebuild the engine?
Great content mate

Its not a flexible boot phil. That one requires the cv joint removal
I thought if a Cat was OEM, that it was an MOT fail if it was missing, regardless of emissions.
Hi Phil festa coming on nicely.By the way what have you done with the insignia ?.
Great job Phil 👍👍
It purrs like a kitten
good job
You have an F1 steering wheel …..!
Did you do gearbox oil?
