  • Tutorial video on converting a new Samsung (Model: NX58H9500WS) - 5.8 Cu. Ft. Self-Cleaning Slide-In Gas Convection Range from natural gas to liquid propane (LP). I am hoping this video helps another DIY home owner. There are other similar videos on the LP conversion, but this is meant to be specific for the Samsung models.

    This 70+ year old woman converted her new stove to propane by herself thanks to your great video. The only thing missing was how to get the door back onto the oven. 😁

      For some reason getting the door back on the first time is ridiculously difficult. When we converted this range to propane a few years ago it took me like 30 minutes to get the door back on. I've had to take the door off a few other times since then and never had an issue with it after that.

    This is a fantastic video. Thanks for the help. The directions that came with the stove (I have a slightly different model, but the same orifices are involved) would have been terribly awkward to follow. Great video, same steps for Samsung NX58R4311SS. Installing door back can be challange. I suggest to remove bottom drawer and get ready for the door. Fully open those hinges, locks open as well. Go with tips from the hinges slowly in to the slots and sliding from the top down so it's seated at the bottom notch on both hinges. Once it's in, then fully open the door and lock those hinges back. Try to close it & open few times, if everything works put that drawer in and pat yourself on the back. You did great job.

    I love how you cut away when installing those two side wall nibs on the large burner. Having converted this SAME range to propane years ago and then back to natural gas just today I know how much of a bitch those are to get in. Took me about 15-20 minutes alone for those. I used the same wrench you did but what I had to do was put a piece of packing tape on the back so the nib wouldn't fall out the back. Even then it was incredibly hard for the threads to catch. Took me about 90 minutes total to convert back to NG and get it properly working. It's a good range but it's kind of a pain to keep clean.

    Helpful video. We had Lowe's/CRST install and convert a similar samsung range to propane. But it seems like the burners, burn too hot. It makes me wonder if the installer flipped the dual purpose orifice. I have to check if that orifice is behind the underneath drawer on our model and look under the red cap. I think the propane would have to be turned off from outside the house to flip the orifice. Thanks for the video.

    • @plasmac9
      @plasmac9 3 роки тому +1

      The ignitor on this stove is not the best part. We had to have it replaced twice. First time the repair tech said he would put in a different brand than what Samsung uses and I said I wanted the OEM Samsung part. Big mistake. Was more than twice as expensive and half a good quality. Next time I had them put the "aftermarket" ignitor and haven't had an issue since.

    Are you able to run this oven on 20 lb tank of propane after properly converting it to propane? Got this exact stove and did the conversion the spud is in properly with the LP big hole showing on the outside its hand tight and all the top burners & bake & broil orifices changed out. The top burners work perfectly but the bake & broiler will not light for some reason. For the bake (bottom) for instance I see the igniter glows red and I smell gas but it wont light. Does the oven light the bake position gas the second you hit start? Or is there a slight delay on the gas while the igniter starts glowing. Does the bake gas start the second you hit bake? Thanks for the video it helped!

    • @grwebman
      @grwebman  2 роки тому +1

      You should be able to run this on a 20lb LP tank. The bake gas usually take a few seconds to start, as the system checks the status of the ignitor before opening the gas valve.

    Thanks for the informative video! We just ordered a different Samsung model (NX587T7511SS), and your video will be invaluable in converting it to LP. One quick question, Samsung says your model is a 'True Convection' model. From what I've read, true convection ovens have a heating element by the convection fan. Did your range not require that, or is the true convection heating element electric?

      Our unit is a convection oven, but does NOT have an additional element near the fan. It does have an electric heating element for the warming drawer. Hope this helps.

    I subbed. I just bought the latest version off this stove and your video was very helpful, thank you. Did you have a separate video on the back of he stove and the flex line hookup? As for that little brass nipple that you inverted - I have one also, so I inverted it as you suggest. What do I do now? Do I cap with that plastic red cap or leave exposed? I don't see how the yellow flex line can hook up to that - I hooked the yellow flex line (with adapter) to an aperture below the brass nipple thing I inverted.

    Do you happen to know if the air mix has to be adjusted somehow on this Samsung? I’m reading that some ovens require this to adjust the rate of fuel. Thanks!

      The bake and broiler burners are adjustable, but I did not have to adjust mine. The factory settings were fine. Hope that helps.

    I am desperately trying to find the installation instruction sheet for the LP conversion kit. Would you have that? I only see the general range installation booklet online.

    I just got my Samsung stove today. The directions are terrible. I followed what you did on the pressure regulator, but according to the directions that is wrong. It says to make sure the LP spud is "exposed". To me this means it's under the red cap and not facing inside the regulator the way you and I did it. I just reversed what I saw, but directions make it sound wrong. Also, it mentions the oven shut off lever needing to be in the open position, but the graphic is poor and I can't tell. You didn't address this at all in the video. Does your oven work properly?

      Using the unit for the last year and a half with zero issues. I must have done it correctly. However, I appreciate all feedback and comments that can help out. Thanks!

    On the orifice by the LP hook up in the rear of the range, does that need a red cap?

      So far, so good. The family really likes it. The large burners get the big 'pasta pots' boiling in no time.

    I did the conversion but unfortunately when I tried to test how it will work,the flame just flare up boom just like that.I have changed the front valve assemly,I have changed the spark module,I have changed the igniters ,meaning that I have changed almost all that makes the range works and I have not been able to get the reason for the flame flaring up instead of working properly.Please if there's anybody that reads my comment and knows what could be wrong and what can be done should kindly respond.Thanks.

    What is the convertor pieces for??? What is the purpose of changing them?? I just thought they were extra replacement parts.....pls

    • @grwebman
      @grwebman  3 роки тому

      They are NOT extra parts. Running an appliance on natural gas is VERY different than running it on liquid propane. "One cubic foot of propane = 2,516 BTUs compared to one cubic foot of natural gas = 1,030 BTUs. Propane contains more than twice the energy of natural gas." This is why the orifices of the LP nozzles are smaller than those for the natural gas. They are NOT interchangeable and it is a serious safety hazard to run an appliance set for natural gas on LP. Very dangerous.

    I just got the newer version of this. The Wok burner takes a minute to light and then has high flames...what could be the issue?

    • @grwebman
      @grwebman  3 роки тому

      Are you running this on LP? Did you have it converted? If you answered yes to LP and you did not have it converted, the high flame is certainly from not converting. Please discontinue use and have it properly converted to LP. It's not safe!

    I like to convert my new Samsung gas range to LP(propane). is it secure to do my own or need professional person to do it. What would be risky things to do. What I need to do to make sure there is no lick or anything if you can suggest

    • @grwebman
      @grwebman  3 роки тому

      There is always risk in doing this yourself. I have tried to layout as much as possible in this video to show the steps of completing the conversion. Good luck.

  • @cesar8ramirez

    Thank you just bought one. Only the top was converted but the flame comes in strong. Where do you adjust how much gas flows through?

    • @grwebman
      @grwebman  4 роки тому +2

      At 14 minutes in the video, I explain about the dual purpose orifice on the pressure regulator. That is the only gas flow adjustment. Be sure that orifice is setup correctly.

  • @enhancedlife
    @enhancedlife Рік тому

    I striped the orifices on the big bunner that is sideway installed. Any idea how I can take the entire thing apart to try and get it out. At this point I am stuck with the natural gas one still in there. All the other ones have been changed to the propane orifices.
