  • From receptors to networks - Samuel Kohtala, PhD, MSc (Weill Cornell Medicine, NY; University of Helsinki), provides an overview of the neurobiological mechanisms underlying ketamine's antidepressant effects. Classic psychedelics may be making their way into psychiatric treatment in the next few years. But the psychedelic-like dissociative ketamine is already there, being actively used especially for treating depressive symptoms. How is it able to reduce depression so rapidly?
This talk was originally presented as part of the Ketamine in Psychiatry online seminar, organized by the Finnish Association for Psychedelic Research on January 20, 2021.

I am a Veteran with severe PTSD & chronic depression. I’m watching this 1 hour after taking 100mg of ketamine + 6 hits of cannabis. They complement each other by recalibrating my brain for 1-3 hours at a time.

21:00 return to baseline ~10 days post ketamine treatment.
My return to baseline after 300mg 3 hour ketamine infusion is around 3 days but the VA will only give me the infusions once every 6 weeks.
22:30 Crucial importance of Sleep after ketamine 👌
24:30 Sleep is the price of plasticity

Kiinnostava aihe.
