As a magician coming up on 10 years of performing, I don't go anywhere without my cohorts of marked cards! If you know, you know, and yes I know they're not objectively the best option, but they've never failed me!

Cohorts are my go to as well. Great marked deck. I’ve recently became a big fan of the Pete Turner cross keys deck, & the new Pioneers deck from Ellusionist. Both easy to read @ distance IMO.

This was great David, it's so easy to forget about some of these the deeper we get into magic, especially with all the 'latest and greatest' that everyone instantly wants.
When you go back and look at some of the projects produced to go along with these decks there is some stuff out there that could really go into a working set.
Too many people write these off as they have seen them from the very beginning of their magic journey but believe it or not, spectators will still be just as surprised with one as these as they would if you do it using decades of sleight practice 👌🏼

Thanks for the list. I have a number of these decks, but since I don't normally use them, I tend to forget how each is structured, so this was a nice reminder about that. I had come across the Pop-Eyed Popper but don't have one; maybe it should go on a wishlist. One trick deck I have that wasn't mentioned here is a Mene Tekel deck; I can't say if it's better than the others or not, but I have a book that included tricks for it, and I bought it for that reason.

When performing card tricks I always use a regular deck and let my hands do the magic BUT if I was going to carry another deck which does one trick, it would be Richard Sanders - Any Card. I personally think it's better than the invisible deck.

David. I just want to say that I love your channel. You are the first reviewer I go to when I hear about a new trick, and you are very often the source where I discover new tricks. Probably 40% of the tricks in my collection are because of your reviews. So from one "non performing, enthusiast magician" to another, thank you!

I won't ask about the codes, I'll research it later, but I will ask this: how can I improve my tricks, in general, not just card tricks. I am always concerned about the angle even if I never actually messed up a trick because of it. And I have one more question. Using gimmicks, marked or special stuff when doing magic tricks makes me less "magical"? What I mean is I know that some magicians don't need gimmicks, they manage just fine with what they have around them.
P.S. thanks for everything you teach us!!!

one i love using is the 52-to-1 deck! also i don't feel like its a terrible thing if the spectator messes up the orientation of your tapered deck since it's designed to be easy to fix, unless you mean that you lose the setup you already had but i wouldn't hand it out if you cared about the way the cards are oriented.

@@magicorthodoxy Oh, forgot to mention, thanks so much for the review/list of trick decks! I especially was interested in you mentioning Ralph W. Hull, I never heard of him. I searched and can’t find any of his books. Certainly would like to peruse them. Any chance of your doing a “book” review in the future?

I'm absolutely surprised that you didn't include a 52 shades deck. With that deck you can perform mind bowling effects in just a walk around

Sven, obv. That said, it makes no sense to list all the available trick decks and be all coy about other magic products/methods used to implement some of these decks. You do know they sell that stuff in exactly the same shops, right? OK, I'd probably put the Marked deck higher, but I'd put the Sven above the Invisible Deck.

As someone who’s relatively new to magic, I had to really think about the two codes here.
Great video as always! You’ve listed a few decks here that I hadn’t heard of, and definitely given me some new things to look out for! Love how simple and fooling a marked deck is, and the Svengali deck is probably my favourite deck on here, with the Invisible Deck a close second. Not overly fond of the mirage deck yet but I’m sure that’s just because I haven’t figured out how to utilise it properly instead of just pulling out the Svengali or Invisible decks.

A few complaints: 1) I could see the invisible deck, so obviously, you got a dud there; 2) was that really the mirage deck or was it my mind playing tricks on me...; 3) a stripper deck? really? Kids watch this channel...
    And dagnabbit! I can't help it: L&S=Laverne & Shirley and R&S=Reconnaissance & Surveillance
There it is. Really sorry, but I couldn't help it. Feel free to delete my post. ...Sniff...
(Really, I love the channel and everything you do! Thanks for this excellent overview! Note to self: I have to stop drinking so much coffee...)

i cant remember where this came from but here's a fun idea:
1.take an invisible deck and get it all oriented so it looks the same as a normal deck.
    2. Get a force card from a normal deck and reverse it somewhere near the middle of your invisible deck
    3. Have your spectator place the deck behind their back and turn over any card into the middle
    4. They return the deck and you spread it to reveal their force card

....I love your reviews brother. I really do. I really like that you want to maintain the secrets and don't want anyone talking about or revealing the secrets....I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything....but I feel like you may have unintentionally revealed the entire secret/gaff to the stripper deck. By saying how they are made, what they do and what they accomplish...lol. either way. Keep these reviews coming! I'm loving it.
