    Well hot damn. I spent like 4-5 hours building up an almost identical explosives-dedicated factory the other day, except mine brings uranium in via requester chest (or train, but my base doesn't justify that level of throughput) to make atomic bombs as well. Amazing job Nilaus, a fine addition to the collection.

      @@kyleb1958 I managed to make a stackable Artillery shell and Stackable Explosive Rockets that you can just keep adding on to support what ever you are using more. I currently have a Long Artillery Train that holds 12k Shells and of course spidertron.

    Explosives are usually something I completely ignore so this was very helpful. The Spidertron, for instance, I usually just use as a transport + shield bus and let my personal laser defense do all the work, but being able to arm it will be nice.

    The combinator for rocketry lists only iron on the belt that needs iron and green circuits

    Nice build! Just a note, the blueprint you left for later game has no green circuits in the lane for rockets/radar in its respective combinator, so might be confusing for newer players.

    I’ve given the Spidertron MK3 mod a go... that is truly fun lol problem is it goes through explosive rockets like you wouldn’t believe 😆 I’m talking 1k in a few minutes lol it holds maybe 24k in it’s trunk which lasts me around half an hour if I go on a killing spree as the biter nests are getting huge!! A lot of fun though, I used nukes for a while with MK1 Spidertron to clear up.
    Also just incase nobody knows you don’t have to automatically fill the Spidertrons ammo it will automatically take from its trunk when low, one thing I learnt after a while! Helps a lot when using remotely

      From what I can tell the pumpjacks can work at wildly different rates depending on the nodes they're on, and the amount you use up can also vary based on how often you're attacked and by what tier of biter. In my experience just a few pumpjacks filling a tank as a buffer is enough to easily support a pretty big line. Basically as long as you buffer your input you could manage a lot with just 1 or 2 jacks.

    You have a mistake in the second blueprint Nilaus, I just used it and there's one Radar Assembler that needs green circuits for the artillery shells, you have them on the constant combinator shown (implying you'll use them), yet no belt ever asks for them. I only noticed after I realized I had 0 artillery shells stocked up. :D
    Otherwise it's great.

      Just need to split that belt with the Iron on the right with Green Circuits and you're good.

    I understand your point, bu just using artillery is boring.
    For me Factorio is also a war game, and a very good one.
    I like to experiment with every weapond, and I have found myself a quite nice strategy with armored cars and poisond bombs to kill all the worms.
    I recoment you all to try every weapond and develop new strategys cause it's very fun.
    Flamethower and poisond bombs is a good combination but using walls to stop the bitters and them use rocket launcher with red rockets is nowadays my favourite.

    Do you ever play modded games of Factorio? And if so, would you ever consider a masterclass video on the big mods? (Everyone uses all the Bobs mods together, and all the Angel's mods together... usually at once. Greatly extends the early game, in my opinion...)

    I've never used those land mines. Are they cost effective compared to all the energy/ammo you use when the biters come for your walls? Will construction bots automatically replace them after being triggered?

      Yes, as long as you have some in the network. You'll see speedrunners use lines of them around mining outposts because they're quick to put down and robots replace them. They'll hold off biters long enough to get the rocket launched, which is what a speedrunner wants. They're not great for long-term defense. I don't know how well they'd do against behemoth biters either.

Only when you have a chokepoint on your base and you wanna save a few bullet rounds on your turrets, otherwise just destroy the spawners inside your pollution cloud and you only need to worry about defending when you make artillery.
      "Will construction bots automatically replace them after being triggered?" provided you keep a constant supply of them available in the network and don't mind losing construction bots placing land mines in the middle of a firefight, sure.

      They are pretty cost effective. I use landmines only in my current deathworld. Also have a mod that adds "Snappers" which are like biters but much more tanky. Gun turrets and flamethrowers don't really work on those, most of my resources went into those, but land mines work fine and I use so much less resources on defences after I switched.
      Gun turrets require ammo logistics set up, and so do flamethrower turrets. Land mines are replaced by construction bots which are fairly early game, so that makes it actually simpler. If the land mines are stored a fair distance away from the walls then the bots won't arrive to replace mines during attacks and you don't lose any bots. You don't need walls or turrets, land mines seem to me to be the strongest, cheapest and easiest way to protect yourself. Efficiency modules are of course another way, which you can combine with land mines to become completely safe. Keep in mind that land mines have AoE and stun, so they become really cost effective because the stun forces the natives to bunch up and the AoE will then hit multiple targets.

      @@VladTheImploded efficiency modules in machines lowers pollution and electricity need (for even less pollution). This means you get less attacks and less evolution. Not that many landmines are needed to stop the largest of behemoth swarms, but if you get attacked even less by lower evo enemies then that trivialises defense even more, to the point that you might not even need to rebuild the minefield at all before you expand past it.

    Unnecessary second fast inserter on the cliff explosives inputting from the coal/sulfur belt. BP is LITERALLY unusable :D

    I found this mod. It’s called shifted worlds. It does so that after a certain amount of time you switch to a completely new world but on the same coordinates. Which means that you’ll have to make 2 bases. I would really like to see you playing with it

      Base would remain the same, but you'd be continually outposting. With outposts being one of the most annoying aspects I can't see it being fun as audience dont want to watch outpost episodes.... just my opinion...

      As in you get teleported between the two worlds at certain time intervals? That sounds like it would utterly destroy my ability to build anything functional. Not sure how others would play it, but I'd just end up stamping down near-identical base blueprints and run with it.

    This is pretty useful, thanks. By the way, are you going to be making updated City Block blueprints with the new blueprint tiling features? I'll probably do it myself for my copy of the blueprints, but others might find it useful, since it's a feature that's practically made for city blocks!

    Nice artillery build, BUT...
    I would so move the upper section left a bit so it's one long thin thing, you only have to move the steel/plastic belt a bit and that's it.
    It would be neater and you could stick a load of them next to each other ad combine belt if need be as well.
    You can extend them until the belts are just not keeping up.
    Then do the same for the rocket build basically.
    I also never used rockets, ever, so i never really had to make such a build for it.
    That will now change with Spidertron of course.

      The level 2 only leaves about 8 total spaces before you run out of room using a city block. Nilaus has a great video on city blocks if you're unclear of what they are and why your suggestion wouldn't work.
