Loving the guy with the chainsaw trimming the ends off, with his mate underneath holding onto the offcut while he's cutting and with no edge protection. I can see how you get these things built so quickly now. Hope your employees appreciate your commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
I wouldn't consider what he's doing to be anymore dangerous than just simply working in the trade itself. A good worker knows how to support the offcut material without binding the cutters blade.
@@roccoconte2960 What's your reason please Rocco. Is the ply better quality? And/or more waterproof. That said I've bought lots of poor quality ply recently (ok for my application tho)
@@johncoppock3823 wax face of osb is more water resistant then ply over time, but the cut edge of osb swells up as soon as it gets wet, so for a roof that might be exposed for a week or two max ply is probably better, especially for any roof that isnt felt, where you want a totally flat surface
I thought there always some kind of steel beam need to be used for building regulations. Quite surprised by how two initial wooden posts took all that weight.
Hi, there is a steel ridge beam as designed by structural engineer. Head beam above dormer windows is supported by 3x double posts during construction.
Looks like you went above existing roof height(ok if client knows) and missed cross ventilation between flat roof rafters ( long term issue ,,condensation’’ ) but video nice cut
For all the people bitching about the chain saw don’t knock it until you tried it . The idea of reaching over with a skillsaw works but sucks. The ability to stand up and reach with a chain saw is way better and probably safer.
I’m thinking they Should have raised the ceiling joist and then nailed the untreated sleepers on the bottom of the joist instead of the top. Any moisture or sweating will happen between the plywood and the joist at the top that way they treated part would be the only part wet .The plywood decking dose look superior in Quality nice job .
Very skilled, a miracle you can train people every week to replace the ones falling off, fall from heights are the #1 killer of workers, cigarettes never killed so many, shame full to broadcast such sh*t

Nice to see a chain saw used well done
I hope you’re taking the pizz
how come you didnt show puting in the main steel beam ?
There wasn’t one

Great video. I blinked and missed you fitting the ridge steel which would be interesting. How do you choose Ply vs OSB
i never use osb on a roof always fir plywood five eights.

That’s the times consuming part fitting the ridge beam and bolting the wood! Apart from that great video
So many inspectors & HSE inspectors watching this video - done many dormers I think lads have done well !
Alot of weight on those little metal hangers?
good work but for the love of God where's your fall protection guys?

mate how much for all this
How did you finish the ridge tiles very disappointed not to see that. Also did you mean 50mm fittings? What size was the roof joists? Thanks
Were.
The scale of these builds and the skill used is very impressive but do you ever get any aggro from the neighbours unhappy about the works?

Can't x-ventilate when they're tight to the dormer next door, usually would use mushrooms, but that's probably why they've sat on the ridge
excellant work guys, would be better if we could hear him talk his way through as well though
Thank you!
What's the approximate cost of this type of conversion? 🤔
I was wondering the same as I'm not far from London and need it done
@@cosmicpants7261£25000 all in

£600-850

Think those 3inch screws might be overkill for the firrings 😂

Wtf
There will be a vapour barrier beneath if it’s a cold roof and there won’t be any sweating
Those fancy black gloves are not going to do him any good when he falls off the roof 🤕
You must screw firring by sides and not in middle, and cutting with chainsaw is like horror movie
why by side not middle?
4:07 minutes. Where is the scaffold?? Do you want to live a long time mate? disgraceful :(

Nice, but wicked overcrowded to live so closely.
So many things wrong ,air flow, ridge height, noggins, plywood ewww
How they are going to vent this roof? Can mushroom vents stick out above ridge tile? 🤔
