- Getting this 1968 Dodge Charger Hellcat Swap to RUN this car would not turn on and would not start but after going through the hellcat wiring system and sorting through cut wires and mixed wiring harness as well as unmatched and unprogrammed modules we finally get this dodge charger restomod car to start and even drive in short order. The car still has a host of other things that need to be fixed but we are off to a good start

I really like this type of content, with you tearing into something and diagnosing the problems and explaining what you had to do. Very interesting. Cant wait for the next one
Couldn't agree more! Probably would be faster and definitely more reliable.
True project
Remove it all and start fresh
Good luck man
Start from the beginning and do it right. Who knows what else they’ve done and hooked up incorrectly. What you see is always the tip of the iceberg.
Hats off to you for figuring it out. You’re the guy to fix it and get it running properly.
At this point, I would tare it down to bare chassis, get new charger harnesses and go from there
☝🏻I second this one. Save yourself from the obvious fuckery….. and possibly burning that thing to the ground…
Would have to use a challenger harness since it’s a 2 door. If you use a Charger harness you’re gonna have a big chunk of wire just loose that were meant for the rear doors, impact sensors, etc.
@@SRT_DRE not necessarily cause the 68 is Actually same wheel base as the new day chargers, seen that when ppl do chassis swap the old body wraps the new chassis with ease. Keep in mind they were bigger cars back then. The 2doors were bigger they the now day 4doors.
@@l.boogie2764 bro, the Charger and the Challenger are the same length. It wouldn’t make sense to use a Charger harness because the 2015+ Charger harness is a 4 door harness. It makes sense to use the Challenger harness. You’re talking to someone that knows from experience bro. All parts from a Charger and Challenger are interchangeable. I’m just saying if you’re Charger is a 2 door like the 68, then use a Challenger harness so you won’t have loose wires behind the interior panels. That’s tacky.
@@SRT_DRE me too, I have a 20 demon, 69 charger , 70 Cuda in my garage now had 16 charger and wife daily a hell cat swapped 300s . So I'm familiar with the chassis. I feel where you coming from and not discrediting that. I was just speaking from what i seen a friend do on his resto mod, that's what he did and ain't have no loose wire harness no where. Aye maybe the way he routed things doing wire tucks and stuff is why he went with the longer harness. Just saying doc, but yea right either or would work not here to debate. But am currently using challenger harness on my 68 dart project.
68 charger is my all time dream car. I’m excited to see this car done
You’re quite the Hellcat resource bro! It’s fun to watch you troubleshoot and resolve issues. That’s going to be an awesome car when you get done.
Thanks man I’m liking the challenge it’s fun!
Yeah, God bless you buddy! I am a Local Union #26 electrician! I am very well trained in A.C., and D.C. theory, and you are a better Man than me! Because I would have told them, "Yeah good luck with that"! Thanks again for all the great things you do! I am a long time fan, and will always keep watching!
Thanks man! It’s a fun project I’m enjoying the challenges it’s bringing 💪
Time to hellcat swap the swap and put that boosted quality stamp on it!
You know how we do it 💪
Jon, from what you show us, someone apparently Mickey-Mouse the electrical system(term we technicians use loosely). Glad to see that you got some of the electrical corrected & repaired. I know it is gonna take time & patience to get it solve & running in the right manner. Keep up the good work friend.
This Charger will be amazing when done.. Don't give up!
I caught a quick clip of this project & had to go back to this episode to see how it all began. My first thought watching this is it's crazy to have spent sooo much cash on the vehicle, the Hellcat swap, all the interior, a mini tub, roll cage, etc & have so much messed up on the electrical. There's so many issues you have identified. That's unfortunate to go so far into a beautiful car and idea, & be so far away from done. I enjoy how you can ID all the plugs & what they do just by sight - lots of time involved in making it look that easy. This will be amazing when it's done.
WOW, I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH AWEFUL WORK IN ALL MY DAYS, IS THIS THE CURRENT STANDARD OF WORK, YIKES 😬 (Thanks for fixing the incompetencies)
I think the best way to go on this is to get a wire harness from dodge. Everything is marked and it’s made for projects like this. It will save time and money.
John I'd be careful with the wiring the way it is and disconnect the battery when not working on the car or away from the shop for any length of time. It looks too sketchy until you've worked your magic on it.
I am a die hard Chevy guy But wow I love this Car what a thing of beauty 100% bad ass😎👍🏻👍🏻
U found a jem. Love old school cars. Im working on my next pontiac fiero now. A very easy car.
Exact same problem I had with my 1970 challenger three shops around here cannot get it right to save their lives. I sent it to Cleavland Power and Perfomance in Cleveland Ohio and they got it RIGHT,but we had to start all over, and BOY that was a ride.
What a beautiful paint job, looking forward how you troubleshoot the fuel system and brake hydro boost system.
Very cool content! Thanks for the update, sounds and looks like a bowl of spaghetti as far as sorting wiring out! You got this, just takes a bit of time. Looking forward to the next episode!
Excited for you to tackle the hydro boost so then you can clue me on what’s going on with Dentley’s
Lots to sort out on this one lol
Show us some more details of the car under the hood and inside.
I always like to see how a build is put together and the solutions to problems with swaps like you did with the Dakota.
You are a genius. Not easy to fix someone elses hack job but I know you will figure it out.
It would be too big of a project for me, but with your knowledge, you will figure it out !! Good luck!!
Nah, it’s not a big project. Once you remove the interior and expose the wiring, it’ll take about an hour to rewire everything. When I installed a harness in my Challenger I did it in 20 minutes. I installed a engine harness with the engine in the car in under an hour. If you have all the parts then it’s easy.
I am sure you know what your doing.
For me I hate wiring!
But fun to watch.
Thumbs up.
Not quite understanding all the problems. Looks like a great restomod but I own a 69 Camaro restomod with LSA motor. Almost everything is plug _adapted these days. The hardest part of building the car is body mods fitment and painting and the hours of work involved with these attributes. Super cool car tho love the content and hope it’s up and running soon. A car like that is definitely a labor of love and no matter how well it’s done the problems never seem to end lol.
Bro! That is going to be bad ass once you get it up and running! Good luck, also it be really cool if some one could build a harness for a swapp that can work on anything. Like the LS guys have done for the swapped cars. Good Luck!
Thanks brother!
Damn that mug gonna look good when it's finish
The paint scheme I like. The mat black roof looks 👌.
It’s leather soft top. Not matte paint
The Charger is going to be a beast when complete.
That's going to be an awesome car once everything works.
This is one of the coolest swaps.
OMG THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO SOOO BAD!!!! Dope video big homie 🙏
What a collection of cars
Millions of views to you bro!!!! We gotta get you there
Thanks brother that would be awesome 👏
Jackfab is doing my HellCat swap. On my 2016 Charger police version has been a big project. Unfortunately none of oem wiring, modules, sensors etc are not compatible. I had to buy all HC oem components, wiring etc. Hoping to get it soon! Good luck that’s an awesome build!
Such a nice ride
That's one good looking car 👍
In love with this vehicle
This ia the perfect blend of oldschool and new school. Amazing. Ok i just saw the interior. Dont dig at all. Lol
I'm waiting for John to get a classic car to drop a monster motor into. Love this project!
Thanks man! These rollers are pricey these days but would be fun if I can afford to soon!
@BoostedMotorsports it also doesn't help that I love that Era of chargers and challengers.
I like that the OEM door panels are still in the car.
@19295 What is my giveaway prize ?
I liked it brother
Wow man that's a crazy mess at least you got it going that's a good start but it's crazy how they chopped up alot but knowing you john you will bring this badass machine back to life 👌🏽. #BSTEDMTRSPRTS
4:19 For those with a keen eye for things... somehow the original man's came across a Demon dash aswell as probably multiple other factory Demon parts from a wrecked Demon maybe but BROOO ITS A DEMON DASH!!! 😈🔥
Dang! It's a real beauty!
what a rats nest!!!! I enjoy a good mystery now and again but you're a more patient man than I
Beautiful car
Honestly that’s wild, the first thing the owner should have did before even putting the dash in, was run the wires fully
Man what a beauty
This Car is WELL DONE. YES LIKE THE TYGA WELL DONE ALBUM
Man sick car, idk if it’s just me but my heart aches every time i see an automatic of these
I would love to own this car… dream car rite there
This is dope af!!
John to save the day/car ! 💪🏻🤘🏻🔥🏁🏁🏁
💪💪💪
Love this project
I went to a car show last year. I saw a Dodge Magnum with a Hellcat engine.
Keep up the great work as always 💯
Thanks brother 👍
@@BoostedMotorsports np anytime
I love the charger keep it how I is
JON THE HELLCAT WHISPERER
This thing is crazy
Looks like the Jaded brand car from Chicago.
Awesome looking car, to bad whomever did the swap screwed the pooch on doing the job. This maybe a future business for you to consider with all your knowledge and would be done right.
reminds me of an 82 Trans Am I tried to buy from a dealer's used car lot in the early 90s. Wiring all over the place. It was probably taken in on a "push pull drag" trade in deal. They want $2000 and were not going to let it go for less.
This is a sweeettt ridee
what a nitemare. big cahones to tackle this one John. I sure hope someone didn't pay to have that conversion done? maybe the 'hammer the lock on the trailer' guy did all the work 🤣
Just spam bots unfortunately. Not the real BOOSTED 🤦♂️
My dream build❤
You should really bring one ur cars the mopar mania in littlerock Arkansas in May
What does it take to use a hellcat dash in a older car? I plan on using the Mopar stand alone control harness for the swap.
Wow that’s a mess. You got this.
It’s a fun puzzle! New episode tomorrow 💪
Very badass
new nickname " HELLCAT WHISPERER "
I was hoping to see the body swap! I want to do a 17 mustang gt to a 67 fastback so bad!!
Alright. This will be cool.
The original owner on the channel Jaded Brand did awesome job building this car!
As a person who is building a 68 charger hellcat i just dont get why ANYONE would wanna cut that many wires on that wiring harness lmao that is just a huge mess. It seems like the rest of the car was put together pretty nice and is super beautiful! Watch that PAINT!!!
I wish I could go to a dodge dealer and pick up a 60’s-70’s era car with modern updates like this
Speedkore sells them for a few hundred grand 😉
Awesome ride but did you really have to put on those banana guards.
After seeing this car I now know what it feels like to have a dream car. An extremely painful feeling
This is why I said f it and bought a hellcat crate motor and mopar engine management system from modern muscle extreme. Ain’t nobody got time for that! 😆
It a charger demon bro
Que carro bacana que projeto
maybe it's the angle, but has this thing been shortened?
Yes sir! 👍🏼🤘🏼🔧⚙️💯
Throw it all out and get a new complete new harness.
Maybe a crazy question but how did you update that stuff without an obd 2 port?
If I ever want to swap a Hellcat into my '69 Charger R/T I know where send it!
my man working on a car that looks like it came from gta v
Yessir 😬💪
is that a universal front bumper lip?
this will be your best car if you get it running & doing doughnuts im not even lying ive always wanted a 68 charger im 25 but once i seen that body style they shouldve stayed two doors
I really hope you got a good deal on that car. Cause it's that car is not right
My dream build is a 6.1L srt8 hemi swap 68 dodge charger with 2015+ interior 😩
Good job figuring that mess out. I have a question though...is this really a 1968. Reason I ask is the front grill is for a 1969. Rear taillights are of course different also. just wondering.
Originally it's a 68 but the guy who built this car swapped 69 front end. Taillights are from current challenger (which look ugly imo).
Is this car for sale? Please reply.
I didnt expect it to run
Replace with a new harness maybe
Yhea the first thing the person should have done when they started to take the hellcat apart is take pictures and notes about the wiring! Maybe it wasn't a complete car and it was just parts? They picked up to do the swap? I don't know if it will ever be a good reliable swap? With out it being stripped down and re done? It was a good idea but with reality? Might just burn to the ground one day? Which would be a shame.
That wiring is a hot mess call 911 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤯🤯🤯🤯
Who put the car 2gether Wolfman.
BUILT CUMMINS SWAP IT!!!
Who built this car?
