- Have you ever heard of soda cakes? I guess they have been around since the 60's!? I accidentally stumbled across this on Pinterest and was so intrigued I had to recreate at home and who better to do this with, than my favorite fellow foodie, my husband!
All you need is a 12oz can of soda and a box of cake mix!! Yup, that's it!!
Cake combinations to try....
creamsicle cake: white cake mix and orange soda
strawberry shortcake: strawberry cake mix and cream soda
very cherry chip cake: cherry cake mix and dr pepper cherry
zesty lemon cake: lemon cake mix and sprite
purple cow cake: white cake mix and grape soda
ginger spice cake: spice cake mix and ginger ale
sinless devils food cake: devils food cake mix and diet coke
chocolate root beer float: chocolate cake mix and root beer - Розваги

The best tip I got was to wisk the cake mix first to get any lumps out, then add the soda stirring once per second for thirty seconds, trying to keep as much CO2 in it as possible or the cake will sticky.

I'm going to bake chocolate cake mixed with cherry coke to maybe make something like a black forest type cake.
My favorite though is angel foid mix with can of crushed pineapple (don’t drain)

We used to sell soda cakes in store I worked in, using sprite or 7up, orange soda, or coke.I recall the orange was solo good!
We used to make these to sell at bake sales. Way back in the day.

I was thinking maybe root beer would taste better with a spice cake mix since the flavors might be pretty similar. And maybe use a strawberry soda with the strawberry cake I think that it would taste better

I just saw a video regarding the same subject with a little girl and her mom. I had no idea this has been around since the 60's. I might try a vanilla or chocolate cake mix with orange soda.
I think a strawberry soda with a vanillia cake mix would do better as the artificial flavoring in the cake is probably what is messing the flavor up
I tried Cherry Coke with triple chocolate fudge cake. It was good but...... no Cherry Coke flavor, and the cake does not rise like it does using egg, oil, water and the cake is very dense/heavy with a Brownie texture so...... I had a two layer cake only as tall as a single layer. Going to try the orange next.
Try perier water.... It is naturally carbonated....tastes like sugar free 7up.
PLAIN Chocolate cake with coca cola is what we used.
i literally just made today chocolate cake mix with a can of coke. i added chocolate frosting 🤷🏻♀️. i think its ok
Try juice instead of soda fizzy drinks,maybe.
the soda has carbonation-same as adding baking soda/powder to a cake recipe. Without it, juice wouldnt work. You would end up with pancakes lol

@@sugarpopmagic2999 I made spice cake with Dr pepper and added cinnamon to the vanilla frosting. Delicious. Also, use lemon pie filling with lemon cake and lemon frosting. You can use Strawberry frosting with the strawberry cake and top it with Strawberries. Orange cake with orange crush. Use orange frosting and add orange zest to make it your own. So many combinations that are not listed. It's fun to just do your own ideas and make your own list. Happy baking!
Kamryn Rainntree I don’t know if I’m just hungry or have the biggest sweet tooth but I’m taking notes 😂 the lemon cake sounds perfect for summer! Do you add soda to the lemon one or is the lemon pie filling the liquid to bind it
@@sugarpopmagic2999 use the lemon pie filling. You can do the same with spice cake and angel food cake by using apple pie filling. You can also use pumpkin pie filling on spice cake. On the angel food cake you can use pineapple chunks too. 20oz cans. Perfect cakes.
perhaps invest $15. in a hand mixer to aerate and mix your batter better

Use flavor seltzer water 12oz and cake mix blend,Take fresh fruit cut up or frozen fruit of your choice like apples, cherries,berries,or mangoes anything then pour the mixture over the fruit bake 1hour at 350 degrees , healthy.

You dont. Carbonation is what makes it rise. Try it
